Formerly the Georgian Dower House of the Northerwood Estate built in 1820 and used as a hunting box by King George IV, the restaurant new chic interior is complete with walnut tables, potted plants, interesting fabrics and contemporary artwork, creates a warm and inviting space for a casual dining experience.

Situated on the edge of the New Forest, Swallowfields Farm is family business, run by a fourth generation of farmers. Turning their cattle out to graze in the New Forest just as farmers have done for centuries, we source prime hand-cut steaks from The Farmers Butcher and proudly feature these on our menu, alongside a mix of modern brasserie classics.

This restaurant disguised the fact that it is the restaurant of the Forest Lodge Hotel,Lyndfield. The Restaurant had been moved into a much bigger room with ZERO ambience, there were just 2 other diners, the food was execrable; my wife’s starter was a few peas with a blob of goats cheese, and mine was braised squid which was appalling, both were sent back as they were stone cold.
We ordered steaks very rare and medium rare, they arrived medium and medium rare, we couldn’t be bothered to send them back, the one saving grace was the triple cooked chips which were very good.
All in all an appalling experience.
