1802 Oyster Bar and Bistro
The oysters were delicious, we loved the selection. A large array of seafood on the seafood platter, however all of the food was cold. The kids meals are overpriced..$15 for a bowl of spaghetti is ridiculous. Overall a lovely dining experience but just overpriced
Understanding it’s a public holiday and limited supply available, for the 100 text message & email you got prior to the reservation one could of informed you of the limited menu options. Service was polite, took way to long to get food (biggest downfall), lucky the food was great.
We came to the Eyre Peninsula looking for Australia's best seafood and we were not disappointed. The seafood platter was incredible, and paired with a lovely wine in the sun it made for a fantastic afternoon.
Food was good and so was the service. Well worth the trip!
Was beautiful. Lovely atmosphere and food. I loved the kids colour packs to keep them entertained too. Thanks
Excellent service from Kelly and great ambiance.; though the girl behind the bar did not have the same enthusiasm- but that because she was having a bad day .
Staff fantastic and very happy and helpful
Food and service were top quality. Our guests were surprised at the high price of the oysters compared to what they pay on Perth.
We all would recommend 1802 to anyone on the Eyre Peninsula.
Just amazing - it is certainly a must!!! We showed up early and they where happy to help and the food was so amazing!
A true Gem of the Eyre Peninsula, showcasing exceptional local product, and delivered with magnificent presentation and surroundings! Well done! Love it!❤️
Booked the 1802 whilst on our visit to Coffin Bay for Husbands birthday. Wonderful food, we chose to share a seafood platter and wasn't disappointed. Husband did think a small serve of side salad and chips would compliment the dish. We both loved the mussels and vongole in thai yellow curry - they where yummy! My only criticism was the young lady who served us (who was lovely) didn't seem to know enough about what was on the menu or the wines. She did go and check for answers to our questions but think a little more training so as staff knew what they where serving would be helpful, especially as the seafood is the main attraction in this area. We did enjoy it and returned on our last evening in Coffin Bay and will be back when we return to this beautiful part of South Australia.
The restaurant is a wonderful surprise in the sleepy wonderful town of Coffin Bay.
High quality food with fine dining flair.
King George Whiting meal was fresh and generous.
Very good well structured wine list the great majority in the sub $50 range.
Oysters during this tough season were first class although smallish and pricey.
If you get a chance do the oyster walk too around the coast.
Very accommodating staff. Food was so delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant
Food was nice however the staff were dressed so casually it was if I was having a very expensive meal in a milk bar. The experience could have been very special but this detail really let it down. Washed out jeans and a faded shirt really didn’t cut it. You have spent a lot of money on this very nice architect design building, you could at least make sure staff dress to suit.
we thought the service was great, food ok but value not so much ie $34 for flathead - we assumed we would get two pieces, one was certainly not enough.
oysters were very small but realise the shortage of these probably make sit so .
Had a wonderful time and loved the experience. We went for dinner on NYE and everything was superb. Food is really tasty.
Overall the meal was good, although the oyster kilpatrick's sauce was dry and overdone. Apart from that we were happy and enjoyed our experience.
Have eaten here before, and this time was just as good. Sat outdoors on a lovely day, and thankfully the insects were elsewhere! Beautiful view across the bay. Very knowledgeable staff and attentive service. Great tasting, nicely presented food which arrived quickly.
Highly recommended as a place to go for a special occasion, or if you would like to enjoy a great lunch or dinner!
very fresh seafood for a fair price.
wine and service were good to.
Lovely food and service. Will definately visit again!
Service was fine as were the oysters. Mains however were disappointing. Pipis and mussels were overlooked and very small/chewy. The curry sauce was salty.
Excellent food and service, relaxed feel in a great location, we will be back!
Fantastic service! We appreciated how the restaurant accomodate food intolorences. Great wine and cocktail list too.
We had the seafood platter. Crab was very dry. Bugs had little meat and the sardines looked like they c ame out of a bait packet. Crumbed squid was nice, yet under all the hot food which made them very soggy. Actually wish we spent out $100 on something else there
I read reviews about this restaurant and was not expecting such a lovely experience. Food great, service great and the view was wonderful.
Even though one of the ordered items said that it had scollops in it, no scollops could be found in the dish. The waitress told us that the chef had told her that the scollops were the tiny red dots (not even three dimensional ) on the pasta. We are not fools. The person who ordered it is a chef! Very disappointed . Upon ordering, we were told that we had to order everything on one docket, i.e not allowed to order in stages. The restaurant was empty ! These poor waitresses are given some odd orders by management and the chef.
Don't think we will be back
Had a lovely lunch sat outside on a gorgeous day looking out to sea whilst eating oysters from the bay, nothing better! service was quick and friendly best of all we were allowed to have our 2 dogs under the table. Food was delicious. Highly recommend
We live in Adelaide and we met friends travelling from Perth in Port Lincoln. We have eaten at 1802 before and as our friends love oysters is was the perfect destination for lunch. A good day had by all.
We were looking forward to dining as we had read great reviews of the food here. We were disappointed however for the following reasons.
The food took a really long time to come out and we had to ask what was happening
The sides were over cooked bowl of peas and grilled corn with popcorn and chilli which was a bit weird with fish.
The person who had the abalone gnocchi said they could not taste the abalone.
Overall the menu was not very varied.
Absolutely recognise that restaurants have good and bad days and everything in between. On this occasion it didn’t suit us.
The menu is not as wide as it should be, If you dont like fish not much else on the menu.
Our friends from Adelaide were delighted with the menu & the amazing choice as they are 'lovers of fine foods'. It didn't take much convincing to try the Kingfish, Coffin Bay Oysters, Spencer Gulf Prawns & the chilli Mud Crabs. The service & welcome makes this a restaurant a pleasure to go to & it always provides a special experience, especially for visitors to this region. Thank you.
Return Good Friday visit since last year. Worth the drive from Port Lincoln. Outside dining as sun sets creates great ambience. Friendly helpful staff with efficient service. Great food with interesting variety of oysters. Worth trying something new. Well maintained restrooms with refreshing hand wash. Plan a visit if you are in the area.
We had lunch at the venue.
The seafood platter for 2 was terrific.
We had a table outside and the view was lovely.
Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Best service, waitress was fantastic at making recommendations:)
The food and service was outstanding. Oysters were amazing.
Good select of ocean foods, we were very impressed with our dishes and we loved the food , we are still talking about how beautiful and yummy the food is . We will be back when families return from other states. Great place for ocean dishes, as well as other meals .
Hard to complain when you can have the best oysters in the world, served by attentive, enthusiastic staff whist enjoying a priceless view......but....the rest of the food is pretty average....just get 2 or 3 dozen oysters and a bottle of Clare Valley riesling and have the best time.
We have been here many times and the food and service is always exceptional
1802 mouth watering food. Pippis on peas and broad beans to die for
we generally visit 1802 whenever we are in Coffin Bay
the meal was excellent a selection of 3 different oyster dishes in a dozen for starters followed by Lime and chilli prawns, then topped off with desert
