One Eleven Spring Street - The Hotel Windsor
Breakfast is an a la carte menu featuring favourites from Melbourne's thriving cafe scene, made with quality, locally-sourced ingredients. The menu ranges from light pastries to healthy options and hot breakfast dishes.
The Windsor breakfast - with freshly squeezed orange juice, a pastry, hot breakfast and Niccolo coffee or specialty tea - is a signature.
Afternoon Tea is an institution, served since our establishment in 1883. Blending tradition and modernity, the seasonally-changing menu comes on three-tiered silver stands with French Sparkling Wine, specialty tea or coffee. Expect ribbon sandwiches, savoury canapes, scones with housemade jam and double cream, and a trio of chic patisserie by our French Head Pastry Chef.
A dessert buffet with chocolate fountain is served on public holidays and weekends.
The food we had was great but I would have preferred a bit more variety and choice. I was expecting a buffet style breakfast but it was order off a menu with a note to say " No changes to menu allowed".( I would have liked bacon instead of ham with eggs benedict :) )
The seating was excellent and the waiters were courteous. They were friendly and engaged in conversation easily
Good atmosphere service and food
The decor and ambience is different to any other restaurant I’ve ever been in.
This is the 3rd visit but this time I found the service quite slow. We waited 20 mins for a drinks, scone & sandwich tier that has never happened in the past. Probably wouldn't recommend or return for another special occasion.
Very disappointing to arrive and receive a less than friendly welcome.
Was shocked to see no table cloth on the table, more a cafe vibe than a $99 High Tea.
The server did not discuss the menu, and when asked what were the alternatives to the sparkling wine, a rude reply of softdrink was given.
The food was nice.
Having experienced many High Teas locally and internationally, this was one of the less enjoyable ones.
Rather disappointing. 2 x 3 plate high tea ensemble was delivered to the table with all of 6 items on them - farcical! No room for any tea pots. Uninspiring sandwiches, unknown 2 items on middle plate and 2 scones. No hot savouries such as handmade pies. There was 3 tables of desserts but one can only down so much sugar. Breakfast tea was the worse I've had. Very disappointed and certainly not value for money.
As we were staying at The Windsor we decided to enjoy a High Tea. Booking was easy during the week. The experience was very special. The food was very well presented and there was enough to skip dinner. Some of the cakes were so beautiful it was a shame to cut them open. The ribbon sandwiches were delicious. The French sparkling provides the perfect complement for the food, so I had two glasses. Staff are friendly and efficient. Lovely way to spend part of an afternoon.
I went with a friend to celebrate my 60th Birthday She had Booked the 2 bedroom suite as a surprise and I had booked the High Tea The experience from beginning to end was truly the stuff of ‘Best Memories’ The staff from the front door and back were fantastic The High tea was outstanding in every way. The suite was a melding of past and present delight, it’s history added an unexpected layer of interest to the experience She truly is ‘The Duchess of Spring Street’
A delightful way to spend an afternoon in Melbourne The High Tea offering is extensive and nicely displayed I personally would have liked some more savoury treats as the amount of sugar available was a bit overwhelming However I still highly recommend it
I love High Tea here, I feel like a lady having afternoon tea, its a venue you can dress up or down but don't feel out of place.
Having high Tea at the Windsor is a lovely experience to share with someone special.
the staff were attentive but not obtrusive and the food was lovely,
This was my second visit and wanted to introduce friends to the Windsor Hotel. Friendly staff, beautiful & historic hotel with a morning tea we all enjoyed. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you are an occasional visitor to Melbourne splurge a little!!
I surprised my mother for her 85th Birthday here last week, we had the high tea... My mum and I were extremely happy with the service, food and the whole experience.. She was also treated to a very special little birthday cake.. 10 out of 10, thank you.
Afternoon tea at the Windsor is a pleasant experience with professional staff and a lovely setting. Although there was enough to eat, and the food is quite interesting and tasty, it isn’t overly plentiful and it would have been appreciated had there been a little more on offer, particularly for those who do not enjoy scones or egg sandwiches. Some choices would be a good idea.
I had taken a friend to celebrate her birthday (and we made this known to our waiter when asked) so I felt very sad to see other diners’ birthdays being celebrated with the delivery of a small cake and candle, when there was no such offering at our table.
Could be done better!!
The dessert buffet was FABULOUS ‼️Absolutely Wonderful
The High Tea Cakes/Scones and sandwich’s were absolutely terrible ‼️
Sorry the sandwich’s were BLAND
The Scones were below average
The Cheese fillied pasty was SERIOUSLY DISGUSTING ‼️
I’m sorry but I have to be honest
The champagne was great, as I know champagne
Overall, I’m sorry, but I cannot recommend without my true criticism
I hope someone actually reads this and communicates my disappointments
It was a special treat for me to celebrate a very special family occasion.. I loved the food, the tea and the history of the traditional afternoon tea that’s been served here for over one hundred years ❤️
Service was friendly, comfortable and attention given when required. The food was delicious with great attention to individual flavours textures and balance.
We made a great choice to return to the Windsor for hight tea as it is a special place with the right atmosphere and history.
High Tea at the Windsor: a must do in Melbourne. Excellent service, delicious food,
Elegant surroundings. Highly recommended
This is a special historic venue, perfect for something as dainty as high tea. The service was exceptional and the maitre'd both professional and entertaining. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
Service was excellent, with lovely High Tea quality menu.
The dining room has very dignified furniture. The room itself is decorated beautifully.
Staff made sure we were served promptly and made comfotable.
Would definately recommend to friends to at least try it once.
The experience is abit on the expensive side for seniors but well worth doing at least once.
We went to the Windsor Hotel for high tea. It was a special occasion for my mother in laws 70th birthday. The service was excellent and attentive. We had a selection of pastries, sandwiches, sweet treats and scones, the food was so tasty. We had specialty coffees, teas and a glass of bubbles.
It was my mother in laws 70th birthday, so we went somewhere extra special and this place definitely hit the mark! Food, service, experience was just fabulous.
More than just a meal but an experience
Service is excellent
Our experience at The Windsor was very enjoyable. The cost did not really match up with what you received. I would have expected more. It is great if you are a sweet tooth, but if you are a savoury fan I would look elsewhere.
I was disappointed that they dont do they buffet of deserts after u have the high tea
Wonderful High Tea.
Delicious food and delightful and very welcoming staff.
3rd year in a row we have been to celebrate our son's birthday.
He has always been made to feel special by the staff.
Overall still a special experience, but I think you have lost the reason why a lot of older people particularly enjoy a high tea. Was very rich, could change a mousse cake to a vanilla sponge with strawberries for instance. A quiche instead of 2 rich savory options
Really beautiful high tea. They really make you feel fancy here. Everything is so professional. Plenty of food. The only thing is the scones weren't a traditional scone recipe so they tasted a bit weird- that could be personal preference though.
A wonderful, olde worlde atmosphere for a special celebration.
There was a delightful buffet of sweets, beautifully presented, but I would have preferred a few more savoury choices ie sandwiches etc. to balance out the sweet flavours.
The Maitre D' was delightful and deserves a special mention.
Beautiful hotel. Old world feel. Traditional high tea experience.
I had the pre-show dinner special. Firstly, there was no choice for the “snack”, even when I said that I didn’t like olives (a large part of the snacks). I had the John Dory fish which was delicious. But there was NOTHING accompanying the fish. I would have thought some kind of small salad or seasonal vegetables should have accompanied the fish. This is why I wouldn’t recommend the hotel for dinner.
Fantastic experience with amazing food. The staff were also wonderful. I didn't catch the name of our main waiter but he was extremely charming and funny and made myself and my girlfriend laugh.
Fabulous experience to have afternoon tea at The Windsor. Certainly ticked one off the bucket list.
This was my first experience of a high tea and eating at The Windsor. I was really looking forward to the event and was delighted with everything. I highly recommend booking to have High tea at The Windsor.
I go every Father’s Day with my dad. He loves it
High tea was wonderful
Enjoyed food, service good.
An absolute pleasure with the venue something that my wife and my mum will remember just outstanding thanking to all
Excellent staff (especially Ken) very knowledgeable regarding food ,drinks . Lovely decor
A perfect girls afternoon in a beautiful historic building having a beautiful high tea - what more can a girl want?
