One Eleven Spring Street - The Hotel Windsor
Breakfast is an a la carte menu featuring favourites from Melbourne's thriving cafe scene, made with quality, locally-sourced ingredients. The menu ranges from light pastries to healthy options and hot breakfast dishes.
The Windsor breakfast - with freshly squeezed orange juice, a pastry, hot breakfast and Niccolo coffee or specialty tea - is a signature.
Afternoon Tea is an institution, served since our establishment in 1883. Blending tradition and modernity, the seasonally-changing menu comes on three-tiered silver stands with French Sparkling Wine, specialty tea or coffee. Expect ribbon sandwiches, savoury canapes, scones with housemade jam and double cream, and a trio of chic patisserie by our French Head Pastry Chef.
A dessert buffet with chocolate fountain is served on public holidays and weekends.
Rather disappointing after such a big build up and top price range. Sandwiches were cheese, ham and tuna which from an English background was pretty ordinary. Tiny appetisers and sweet selection were more adventurous. Scones, very disappointing and rather after the event! Had my old mum over from England and she wasn’t impressed, probably better for a tourist venue.
Loved The Service and the atmosphere, at the high tea , always recommend
Lovely atmosphere and the staff very friendly and service was excellent; food very tasty and well presented
Amazing high-tea. Celebrated my mother's birthday and the staff were so attentive and generous with their birthday wishes. Food was excellent and delicious, it was perfect for a special occasion.
Excellent service quality food and wine loved the environment with lovely table setting felt very Poh without being stuffy beautiful would go again tomorrow
lovely to spend time with friends and family over such a lovely high tea.
Made to feel welcome
I took my husband for a special treat while on holidays for a few days. We were lucky to be there for Chinese New Year, and the dragons came through the restaurant. It was spectacular.
Service was excellent, food was an experience, deliciously prepared, food was as good a it looked!
The food options reflected Chinese New Year. Scallop toast was very tasty and the macha chocolate was to die for. I found the service to be good. My son was little hungry still after we left, but he has a large appetite. It was a very expensive treat though.
Could not fault the staff, who were attentive without being invasive.
For us, there was too much sweet foods and not enough savoury.
The quality and quantity of food presented was mediocre and did not reflect the price paid or what our group expected. The service was attentive but came accross bored. The food was served very quickly and felt as though we were rushed. The selction of teas were good and presetnted on beatuiful silverware.
As a visitor from the UK and having experienced afternoon tea at a variety of hotels and restaurants I can honestly say this comes to the top of my list. Celebrated my friends 80 th birthday and all the staff pulled out all the stops to make it a memorable day. The food was delicious even catering for myself as a vegetarian and surprised my friend with an extra plate with birthday wishes written in chocolate. The hotel is beautiful and top marks to the staff who were courteous and very helpful.
Everything was wonderful. Very special place.
The ambience and the service
My husband and I like to go to afternoon tea whenever we visit a city, and this one was up there with one of our favourites. The scones were perfect, the savoury bites delicious and the sweets not too sweet.
The high tea was very lovely
Wonderful ambiance. Felt classy and cared for. Afternoon Tea was delicious and a lovely occasion. Staff were so professional
I had the gluten free high tea.
Although they did not offer me the option with champagne and forgot to bring cream and jam for the scones, I loved the experience, would recommend and will go again.
Being a female dining alone I did not feel judged or treated differently as I felt in other establishments.
Food and environment lovely however staff seem fatigued and not as attentive as previously experience.
Waste of money, standard has dropped, coffee spilled into saucer by waiter, not the service you'd expect for the money paid, dirty chairs, change of menu not advised after l booked. Better off going to a nice cafe where you'll get a smile. We couldn't wait to leave. Don't bother spend $100 p.p. elsewhere.
Always love a High Tea at The Windsor.
Great Old World atmosphere and charm with modern ambience
The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing to hard to accomplish for you.
We're thinking of making this yearly occurrence, we had such a good time.
We didn't ever wear out our welcome when we stayed chatting when everyone else who dined at the time frame had left.
Thanks The Windsor for making this a wonderful afternoon.
This is not one of the better High Teas in Melbourne.
The service is inconsistent (ignored for a long time - no water refills etc, then 3 people in a row asking for tea orders). The food is mixed - lovely high tea platter, but unusual scones with insufficient jam for the table.
Sadly the service was poor and inconsistent. The food is not as good as other high tea offerings in Melbourne. Disappointing.
A touch of class in a more-often-than-not ordinary dining experience in restaurants and cafes today. They all have their place which makes the Windsor a standout. Ambiance and service made for a relaxed and elegant occasion. The waiting staff knew how to serve. We didn’t feel rushed at all. Food was really lovely. We enjoyed it all very much. Thank you.
Had a wonderful girls afternoon, with three first timers to the Windsor, who came from country Victoria. They all enjoyed afternoon and look forward to repeating the experience.
We thought there could have been more sandwiches as we did leave a little hungry when we left. The sweets were nice and service was good. Quite expensive for what you get.
Great place for a special occasion, highly recommend the afternoon high tea experience.
The food we had was great but I would have preferred a bit more variety and choice. I was expecting a buffet style breakfast but it was order off a menu with a note to say " No changes to menu allowed".( I would have liked bacon instead of ham with eggs benedict :) )
The seating was excellent and the waiters were courteous. They were friendly and engaged in conversation easily
Everyone was very pleasant and attentive. We did feel special.
Good atmosphere service and food
The decor and ambience is different to any other restaurant I’ve ever been in.
This is the 3rd visit but this time I found the service quite slow. We waited 20 mins for a drinks, scone & sandwich tier that has never happened in the past. Probably wouldn't recommend or return for another special occasion.
Very disappointing to arrive and receive a less than friendly welcome.
Was shocked to see no table cloth on the table, more a cafe vibe than a $99 High Tea.
The server did not discuss the menu, and when asked what were the alternatives to the sparkling wine, a rude reply of softdrink was given.
The food was nice.
Having experienced many High Teas locally and internationally, this was one of the less enjoyable ones.
Rather disappointing. 2 x 3 plate high tea ensemble was delivered to the table with all of 6 items on them - farcical! No room for any tea pots. Uninspiring sandwiches, unknown 2 items on middle plate and 2 scones. No hot savouries such as handmade pies. There was 3 tables of desserts but one can only down so much sugar. Breakfast tea was the worse I've had. Very disappointed and certainly not value for money.
As we were staying at The Windsor we decided to enjoy a High Tea. Booking was easy during the week. The experience was very special. The food was very well presented and there was enough to skip dinner. Some of the cakes were so beautiful it was a shame to cut them open. The ribbon sandwiches were delicious. The French sparkling provides the perfect complement for the food, so I had two glasses. Staff are friendly and efficient. Lovely way to spend part of an afternoon.
I went with a friend to celebrate my 60th Birthday She had Booked the 2 bedroom suite as a surprise and I had booked the High Tea The experience from beginning to end was truly the stuff of ‘Best Memories’ The staff from the front door and back were fantastic The High tea was outstanding in every way. The suite was a melding of past and present delight, it’s history added an unexpected layer of interest to the experience She truly is ‘The Duchess of Spring Street’
A delightful way to spend an afternoon in Melbourne The High Tea offering is extensive and nicely displayed I personally would have liked some more savoury treats as the amount of sugar available was a bit overwhelming However I still highly recommend it
I love High Tea here, I feel like a lady having afternoon tea, its a venue you can dress up or down but don't feel out of place.
Having high Tea at the Windsor is a lovely experience to share with someone special.
the staff were attentive but not obtrusive and the food was lovely,
This was my second visit and wanted to introduce friends to the Windsor Hotel. Friendly staff, beautiful & historic hotel with a morning tea we all enjoyed. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you are an occasional visitor to Melbourne splurge a little!!
