Queens Grill is the elegant basement restaurant of the eponymous landmark Leeds hotel. The handsome building has been a hotel since the 1930s and not that long ago had £10 million lavished on it and its art deco grandeur. Now as modern as it is classically luxurious, Queens Grill features an impressive neutral décor and dark wood parquet flooring. In an affectionate nod to the building’s heritage, the kitchen prides itself on the traditional Yorkshire dishes on its world-class Modern European menu. We love the risotto of Morecambe Bay shrimps with salmon and garden peas; herb-crusted medallions of beef with potato fondant, creamed leeks and red wine jus; and rhubarb and apple crumble served with just a spot of ‘proper’ custard.

Booking was made for my Mother's 76th Birthday as we were staying in the hotel. Service in restaurant was excellent and was probably the nicest part of the hotel, they even gave my Mother a little dessert for her Birthday, a nice touch. Would eat here again.

Booked the table for Monday at 8, got to the door at the right time to find the doors shut, lights off and it set for breakfast. Open table still would have allowed me to book a table for later even though it was clearly not going to happen.

Excellent food but customers appeared to be unimportant. Waiters and waitresses standing around chatting whilst we waited.

Overall fantastic experience with a great customer service. The night felt very special with the whole ambiance, art decor and lighting. The only thing I would really pick at is the fact my vegetables were under cooked but to turn that around the daube of beef I had was spectacular where it would just melt in my mouth along with the red wine due (perfect combo)

Food was nice though there isn't a great choice on the menu however have no faults with what we had (soup for starter then steak for main) took a while for the drinks to be served. We ordered a second round half way through our meal but they didn't artive until we'd finished but this wouldn't put me off going back. Nice relaxed atmosphere and staff were very polite.

The London Road Restaurant & Wine Bar is part of the Heathcote empire, and always good. Today I enjoyed a light lunch of crispy duck on spinach leaves with sesame seeds. It was delicious but more of a starter than lunch, I would say. The food, presentation and service is always good here. The portions are modest - which is no bad thing in this age of over eating. Music was a bit loud for daytime, I think.

Excellent food. Not sure how the billing worked as we went for the 2 couses for £14.50 each, 2 of us so should have been £29 for the food but actually paid £51.30 for the food. Drinks etc were extra to this figure.

Did not make a fuss as it was my wife's birthday. Next time I will!

I thought London Road Restaurant & Wine Bar in Alderley Edge was excellent. Attentive service and all our choices were extremely good: I particularly enjoyed the crispy duck salad as my starter. Highly recommended.

London Road Restaurant & Wine BarF, Alderley Edge, Cheshire. 22 July

From start to finish, a really good experience. All the staff were exceptionally good and the lady who took our order had taken into account my food problems. Had the best ham hock salad ever. Marco, the Manager, was brilliant - he hit just the right note of customer service with friendliness and humour. Will definitely be back - I think the best eatery in Alderley Edge (and there is a lot of choice).

Had sunday lunch at the London Road Restaurant and Wine Bar in Alderley Edge and the food was excellent. We opted for the 2 courses at £15.50 each which was great value for money. The singer brought a very nice ambience to the restaurant. If your are having a sweet you must try the affogato - the best way to have ice cream.

The London rd restaurant at Alderly Edge, Cheshire is set in a beautiful and very affluent area ( found it hard to park because of all the Bentleys !). The restaurant its self was very busy and buzzing. Everybody stares when you walk in to see if you are a footballer . We had to sit in the down stairs area were the open kichen is which at times made it very warm, smokey and occasionly hectic. Croquet and lobster starters was a disapointment. Nice evening but make sure you sit up stairs.

The Queens Grill in Leeds was very much a typical hotel restaurant with residents with small children and not the romantic meal setting that i had hoped for. The soup and steak were good but a little more choice on the menu would've been nice.

On a Sunday they have live music, which is extremely loud and prohibits any conversation. The drinks service was also shocking. We were ignored at the bar whilst waiting for our table, didn't get our water or wine until after our starter and had to ask twice for our coffees. Only one waitress seemed to be doing all the work who was very attentive. The rest of the staff let it down. The food was good but won't return for Sunday lunch!
