We believe our guests should feel at home when they join us. The Publick House is the place to be; whether you're seeking fine dining, innovative cocktails at the bar, a seat in front of the big game or a relaxed gathering with family and friends.
food and atmosphere were good. service a bit slow.
Went here for a quick coffee and dessert and the atmosphere was perfect. Our server was so kind and warm despite us coming in close to closing.
Typical menu. Not overly impressive. They used to have an amazing Sunday brunch - Best I ever experienced - but for some strange reason (staff I questions had no idea) they discontinued it. Outdoor seating is very nice.
The food and menu are traditional and prepared without any added presentation or creativity. Their secret sauce is the setting and location, making it a convenient spot to meet. Our dishes were all acceptable but unexciting.
Food was ok. Service could have been a lot better.
Great neighbor bar steeped in a city feel. Atmosphere and selective clientele are down to earth. A bar that can be frequented and enjoyed every time.
Smells like wet dog 89% of the time:/ service is okay I guess
This a good stop for a beer. Service is typically good and beer selection is good. Food is mediocre at best and could use some creativity.
Great food and atmosphere. We love sitting at the bar. Their pizza is one of the best! They have live music on the weekends, which is fun. Good place for private parties as well.
Consistent quality food with an unimaginative menu.
Over rated. Food was not good, gravy on dried pot roast was glutinous. Would not go back.
Charm of yesterday with well prepared food at a reasonable price
I would return
excellent! my parents stayed in a guest room there in the early 1990's!
So so food and way pricey. Probably would not recommend,
Loved this place. Super Cozy and food is terrific. Great Date Night spot :)
With a great location on Main Street in Chester and a lovely outdoor patio it's such a shame that the food is just not up to snuff. They have a great pizza oven in the bar area and live music on the weekends. They just need to get their act together in the food and service department!
traditional and well established tavern in Chester.
Best pizza in the area. Great menu for a quick stop or a very nice relaxing dinner.
Nice atmosphere. Good food. would come back. Rarely go to NJ.
OK bar food. We went to hear the band. That was worth it
Under poured and over priced drinks coupled with Sysco frozen food. If I am eating in Chester, it's not at Publick House.
The food we ordered was bland, greasy and over priced.
There are many places in Chester but this is a very rustic restaurant and worth a visit. The food is great and the atmosphere is comfortable.
It is decent. Nothing to Rave about. Middle of the road at best. Not bad, though nothing special. Pricing is about right to meet quality. I would say try it out. At least once.It was not bad.
Mother’s Day buffet was not organized and wait staff didn’t not give any sort of instructions or insight. It took a while for food to be replenished. The place is nice but would b better for sit down dinners
Mother's Day- totally understand its busy. Staff was less than attentive, I bused my own table, nothing of the buffet was replenished, nor plates to even get a piece of bacon left in a tray. Waited over 15 min to even be asked if we would like a drink then finally told its a Buffet around the corner in a few rooms. REALLY! Absolute horrible and not worth $200 for 3 my husband, daughter and myself.
Overall great and reasonably priced place for Mother’s Day brunch. We got a last minute reservation which was terrific.
Overbooked for Mother’s Day. Buffett was empty.
Very disappointed. Super expensive for what you got and the gratuity was included at 20% for a buffet meal. Would not recommend it
The Mother's Day Brunch at the Publick House was very good, but not spectacular. The buffet contained a modest selection of very good food, but not $40/person worth to be sure. Our waitress was very polite, but stretched over too many tables to be attentive.
The guy making pizza starting yelling at his wife who was serving or packing pizza... only one guy making pizza .. waited 45 min for pizza to be served for dinner.. waitress apologized and d d not charge for pizza... pizza was suppose to be margherita with sausage and they forgot the basil so it had to go back... will never go back.
We had a lovely lunch here. Warm and cozy atmosphere and delicious food.
We sat at a table by the bar, had our traditional Old Fashion with WR. Could not choose one of the great selections from the menu, so we did one each to share and tasted TWO...!!
Food and service is very good. House wine is $9 a glass and not that great.
We have been to the Publick House many times off and on over the years. It is always reliable—nothing special, but safe and predictable. The food is fine. Our server was fantastic. We were very disappointed that we were seated in the bar area by default; although we did not make an issue of it, we would have preferred to have been given the option of sitting in the dining room.
Always a good meal, service is solid and a very friendly environment!
Great food and service
Visiting this wonderful little town, Publick House was a warm welcome meal hile traveling through.
First time dining at the Publick House. Good food, lovely historical building...will definitely visit again!
Was cold in the restaurant
