This was our second visit to the Park House and it didn't disappoint. Another splendid meal accompanied by excellent wine. We shared it this time with our children and their partners, it was a great venue for a special family celebration.

We had the set Sunday lunch menu for £25 each - it was superb. I don't understand why this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star - it's certainly of that standard. The wine list is amazing but of course on the expensive side. They also have an interesting selection of beers. The service is outstanding. The icing on the cake is the building itself - a William Burges design - you feel as if you could be dining in Castell Coch! An excellent place to take visitors from abroad - gives a good impression of Cardiff. If your budget can't stretch to a full dinner, go for the afternoon tea, which looks splendid.

This is the most luxury restaurant I have ever been in Cardiff. Sumptuous ambiance and impeccable service, it is the perfect place for a romantic date or a special occasion. I have tried the seven-course tasting menu, which is seasonal. There were very particular chef creations, for example the grouse bon-bon, and one of the most delicious apple crumble I ever tried. It is quite expensive, but I think it is worth every penny.

A real gem of a restaurant, food of the highest standards. Could and should be Michelin star.
Has become a regular venue and never disappoints.

Really lovely food, great service. Definitely for a special occasion as it is pricey, but worth it.
I was concerned that the vegetarian options were limited, but I was pleasantly surprised with both starter and main, delicious flavours and deceptively filling!

This is what Cardiff has needed for years. We had the taster menu and each course was beautifully presented and absolutely stunning quality. The wine list is clever in that there are choices available for all budgets or you can choose to match each course with a wine. A must visit.

Great food and well matched flight of wine. We used the Travel Zoo voucher which made it good value, but I think it would be over priced otherwise.
The courses were small but delicious and we felt comfortably, but not over full by the end of the meal.
It was a very warm evening and at times uncomfortable in the dining room because of this. Some fans would help I think.
Overall a very good evening

I went to celebrate my graduation and was offered the set menu. Although we only signed up to three courses we had approximately 7 if you include the Canapes, pre-desert and post-desert which were all lovely suprises. The chefs here really know what they're doing with food and it was all very 'designer' the portion sizes are just right and I can't wait to go back!

Food and service was excellent. The only fault with the evening was that it was a bit too warm in the dining room. My wife (7 months pregnant) was very hot and it was evident from a few other tables that people were fanning themselves with menus etc so this is perhaps something the floor staff should've picked up on and addressed. An enjoyable experience on the whole and I would definately recommend this place to others.

We had an excellent meal and thoroughly enjoyed every dish in on the Tasting Menu and the accompanying wine. The staff were very friendly and professional. We particularly enjoyed the chat with Lloyd, the sommelier. He introduced each of the matched wines which, when we were there, were South African.

Altogether the perfect way to spend our Wedding Anniversary! Thank you!

We booked a table for lunch on a Saturday. We ate from the fixed menu which was great value at 3 courses for £21. The food was amazing and although the service was a little slow it was very good. I would definitely recommend the Park House Restaurant to others, especially the fixed menu. I look forward to going again.

My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate our wedding anniversary in Cardiff. This place was recommended to us and we are so pleased it was. We had a delightful three course meal with wine. The food and service was fantastic and at unbelievable value. Moreover, this is a great restaurant for wine and champagne with a wine list to match a Knightsbridge restaurant. Our meal was a really pleasant experience and comes highly recommended.

Had a business lunch with 3 colleagues. The food was excellent, as was the setting. My only personal gripe is that in a setting such as The Parkhouse with ornate panelling, fireplaces, plasterwork, etc., I find the background music in the restaurant irritating and incongruous. Nevertheless it will not stop me returning soon.

Booked for a midweek lunch with the wife. We were the only people eating in the restaurant but that didn't really matter as there was suitable background music to create some ambience.

We were only presented with the lunchtime menu and not the Lunch Al a Carte so opted for the 3 courses for £21. The food was very good and I have to say exceptional value and we accompanied it with a bottle of NZ Sauvignon blanc which was excellent.

Only faults would be that we were given cold bread rolls with no butter or side plate to accompany the meals and would have liked to have the option to order from the Al a Carte menu.

Overall good value.

We had canapés to start followed by tuna loin starter with cloudy bay wine then crab croquette starter with 3 diff vintages of Riesling then quail main with a Pinot noir then beef with snail bon Bon! With an amazing Shiraz All delicious then cheese then 1 st dessert then a lemon dessert. Absolutely fantastic!

Had afternoon tea on Mothers Day and had a great experience - lovely food and atmosphere. Enjoyed adding a few glasses of Welsh fizz to make it extra special. Scones were great with plenty of jam and cream, good cakes and treats and tasty sandwiches served with pea shoots. Nice presentation of the food and we didn't feel rushed, had a very relaxing afternoon.

Booked dinner on Saturday night with friends for my 40th birthday and planned to have a drink beforehand in the Vanilla Rooms. This is the 3rd time to try Vanilla Rooms and each time it has been closed to the public. We therefore had drinks upstairs but the cocktail list from the Vanilla Rooms was not available to restaurant diners, which left us disappointed from the off.

The food menu was appropriately limited, so one would expect them to be done exceedingly well. I had lamb, which was divine but parts of the dish were cold; my friends also had partially cold food, while the scallops on the lobster dish were gritty. The wine list was amazing and we spent lots on it. Our bill was £377 for 4. Too pricey for mediocre food, but ace wine.

The food was excellent and service attentive. The £25 set menu was good value for money given the quality of the cooking. Although the building is fascinating, I felt it lacked a nice dining ambience. Maybe an evening setting is different. I hope to try it one day.

Pre-booked stating afternoon tea was a birthday treat for my wife.
Cakes & sandwiches were bland with no pastries and very uninspiring, tiny portions, tea was from tea bags!!!!
Shocked to find in a restaurant of this standard they were served on a cake stand with three large chips out of which when pointed out to waiter produced no comment.
On making views known to manager he offered a free re-visit for another afternoon tea which I declined as did not wish to repeat this experience. Having now appreciated the level of my disappointment he then offered a refund which I accepted however when he processed this he only refunded one of the two meals !!!
Very disappointing birthday treat for for my wife.

We recently visited the Park House for a lunch, we opted for the a la carte menu. We were not disappointed. The food and service was exceptional. We can highly recommend the venison and the wine was also excellent value ( grenache). It made for a real treat after the hussle and bussle of the christmas crowds. We would definately recommend this jewel of a place to friends and family.

Food was sheer perfection. The chef is obviously highly talented and working extremely hard to serve dishes which must rank amongst those at the half dozen or so top restaurants in Britain. I very much doubt if one could have a nicer meal at the Manoir or the Fat Duck. The suggested wines with each course were a perfect and very skilful selection.
Very civilised if rather quirky location, redolent of London clubland. The pianist was a little too loud and should not have been singing - in a place like this what is needed is a classical pianist playing Mozart and Chopin gently in the background. Yet again we encountered very pleasant Polish staff - but why on earth do they speak English so quickly? - and where were the Welsh speaking staff?
