I ordered the trout, but it was dry and over cooked. The fish was small and not worth almost $30!. The veggies that came with it were some sort of greens, maybe collard greens and they were unappetizing The greens were put in a small bowl along with the mash potatoes. The mash potatoes were good, but were inundated with the collard juices (which I did not like), so the potatoes were contaminated.
My family loves this restaurant and it is one of our go to spots when in Seattle. Normally we're in a booth to the right when you walk in or a table in the main section to the left and this time they put us in a bit of a back room to the left (when you're facing the bar as you walk in). This would have been ok (not the best ambiance for Mother's Day), but there were some very loud groups around us that made it really hard to hear or talk. The food was great as always as was the service.
I took my granddaughter after we attended a play. Pay public parking was conveniently just across the street. We were warmly welcomed and seated (before reservation time) at a great window table. Staff treated my granddaughter with respect and care. Having the offering of several non-alcoholic beverages was such a plus. She loved the Brussels Sprouts and wings from the app menu. We shared an entree and they brought it to the table already divided on two plates. The food was excellent as usual and she has eagerly agreed to go there again when we travel to Seattle. After we got home, I pulled out a Tom Douglas cookbook for her to choose something for me to prepare for her next week. In the cookbook, she found a picture of the restaurant at the exact table where we were seated. It was a wonderful experience for the two of us. And the chocolate salted caramel ice cream for dessert, had an absolutely glorious taste and mouth feel.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of Palace Kitchen! I'm so pleased both you and your granddaughter enjoyed the experience, and we hope to serve you both again in the future :) Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Emily is one of the best servers on the planet.
We agree! :) Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Our first time to Palace Kitchen left us with a very good impression. The host seated us right away even though we were nearly 15 minutes early. He asked what our timeline was to make sure we could leave when we needed to. We hadn’t even told him that we had tickets for a performance at Jazz Alley (right next door, so convenient for us). Our server was warm & suggested an appetizer that we both loved & will order again! Drinks came surprising fast..especially for a busy Saturday night, as did the appetizer & entree’s.
We ordered the burger & the halibut, both were delicious. Loved the fries (thin & crispy) with aioli. Serving size was just right. The only thing I would change is the lighting. It’s dark & you can’t read the menu without your phone flashlight. The couple across from us were using there’s too & not keeping the light to themselves I must say. The host attended to us just as well when we left as when we arrived, to make sure all was well. We loved Palace Kitchen & will be back soon! (I rarely leave reviews, this place deserved it!)

Delicious food. Interior is a bit cramped and noisy.
While our server was vert competent, pleasant, and nice, service of courses was excessively slow.
The pig ear poutine was excellent! And the staff was very attentive.
Thank you so much, we appreciate you! Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Always a great experience a TD restaurants. Food choices and quality exceptional. Service fun and professional
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback! I'm so pleased you enjoyed your experience at Palace Kitchen, we appreciate you! Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Palace makes great food, Our service was a bit slow but nothing egregious. Overall 4/5 this time around
This is our second time visiting this restaurant over the last few years. The food is exceptional!
Service was great as usual. I highly recommend visiting this establishment if you're going to be in Seattle. We live about 70 miles away or we would be visiting this restaurant Weekly.
Thank you so much for the lovely review! We look forward to serving you again the next time you are in the city! Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Excellent meetup and dinner location. I can't say enough good things, too, about our waiter Eric. He knows his stuff, and he's a long-timer at the restaurant. Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and a natural storyteller. The food was just right, the prices are in line with any restaurant in the area, and it was easy to reserve table for Friday evening.
I'll be going back, this is a great spot.
Awesome! Thank you so much, it's our pleasure to serve you! And I'll definitely let Eric know that he is appreciated! Andrea E Guest Relations, TDR
Staff very professional and informative. We celebrated a Birthday and they sure made us feel special.
The servers are skilled, attentive, and genuinely friendly—- the food (pausing to come up with words), so delicious! Looks beautiful, smells ah mazing!, and tastes (pausing again). Beautiful tastes all over the place! Had the lamb, melted in my mouth- also had the brussel sprouts (oh my!). Hubby had the roasted chicken- so flavorful and moist. Love this place!
We ended up in the smaller room with a table of 8 that was SO loud. Like it was their own, private outing. That was a bummer as we could barely talk to each other across a two top. The next seating of the same table ended up the same way. Super loud, oblivious to everyone around them. Not Palace Kitchen's fault at all but next time I will wait for a table in a different part of the restaurant. The food was amazing, the service was stellar. I love all of the TD restaurants.
Denise, I apologize for the rowdy parties you encountered! We like to think it's because people are enjoying themselves, but we understand it can be frustrating. Please do let us know next time you are with us if you find the same issue, we will of course move you to another table if possible! Thank you for providing us with your feedback, we appreciate you. Service was a bit choppy, several different "servers", but they were all nice. Food was just OK. My hamburger tasted like salt and little else. Calamari appetizer was very small and tasted a bit fishy. Pigs ear poutine was good, not great.
Overall it was very pricey for average to below average food and average service. We went because of the location (close to Jazz Alley) and I will look for alternatives for our next visit to Jazz Alley. No reason to return to Palace Kitchen.
The Restaurant was very dark and loud and this was at 6pm, so not late. We asked to be moved to be closer to a window where there were plenty of open seats-to have more light. They claimed they were reserved, but the tables remained open. So, not very accommodating at all to a customer preference. We were not complaining, just asked if it would be possible and they were very disinterested and blew us off. The food was very ok, at best, and extremely salty. We won't be going back and definitely would not recommend. I will re-think checking out Tom Douglas restaurants too-given the mediocre food.
This was a fun restaurant, delicious food, great service and a short walk to the 5th Avenue Theatre on a beautiful evening!
Fantastic service! Naan, mussels and fresh local cheeses were exquisite!
Please update the online menu to the current one offered.
Guests who'd never been to Palace Kitchen raved about a he good, trading bites around so we could appreciate every dish. Our waitress was fun yet professional. Love this place!
Another enjoyable night at The Palace. The updated wine list is outstanding, and interesting mix of US and wines from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, and Argentina (may have left one out). Well put together. Food also great, the chicken remains the best in town.
Always amazing, my first choice restaurant for sure.
Very attentive service. Hostess was warm and welcoming. Food allergies gladly accommodated. Palate-pleasing flavors from apps to vegetarian to mat dishes and desserts!
Good ambiance and great service. Calamari was light. Too much cauliflower too little squid. And a couple of$5 beer options would be nice but it is downtown Seattle so prob not. You guys never truly dissapoint though. We had a great time.
Food was amazing. Loved that our time frame was considered in our service. Didn't have to worry about making our movie at Cinerama.
the host at the palace kitchen arranged for us to move to dahlia lounge for dinner therefore this review is for dahlia I can't begin to tell you want that meant to us, I had just eye surgery that morning and was looking for a little more calm environment. had the perfect evening thanks to her. thanks again.
The duck was cold and the turkey leg lacked flavor, maybe more spices? The hamburgers were definitely the winner. Martinis were great!
Great service, our waiter was friendly, attentive and funny. There is a good sized menu but for some reason not a lot jumped out as “wow that sounds delicious”. The mussels were served with a yogurt sauce drizzled over, which was tough to enjoy and made getting them out of their shells messier than usual. My burger was pretty good but a little dry. Overall fine but not my favorite.
We have dined at Palace Kitchen many times in the past. We enjoy the ambiance and fun environment and amazing food selections. However, this last dining experience was different. We arrived slightly before our reservation time and did not receive our food until about 50 minutes later. Our waitress seemed quite busy. We had to ask when our food might arrive after waiting 45 minutes after being seated and her response was "I was just thinking about that too". We were not on a time table as she did ask us this but rather thought we would have received our dinner in a more timely manner. Additionally, our son received a meal he ended up not liking due to the spicy taste. The waitress checked on us after we were done and asked if he did not like it. He replied no it was too spicy for him. She did not offer to replace or remove/discount the meal from our bill. One more suggestion, there was only one vegetarian entrée offered on the menu this time. It would be nice to have more than one option.
We were also surprised to find gratuity was already added to our bill. We honestly would not have paid 20% in gratuity as our waitress really wasn't that attentive to our needs. This restaurant has a special place in our history but it felt as if it wasn't really worth the price this time.
Amazing experience. Great food. Highly recommend the goat cheese fondue wow. service was amazing. Server Emily was awesome, she had great recommendations and was very fun, kept our glasses full and bellies happy. Ambiance was also great, not too loud and great lighting. Had a heater by the window we sat by which was also great.
Dinner at the Palace started with olive poppers (they’re back and even better). Beef stroganoff on happy hour menu was a surprise and nicely done. Interesting cauliflower vegan entrée:cauliflower on a setup of hummus, radishes, pine nuts, pickled currants and cauliflower chips. Tasted great and the chips were excellent. We had the rotisserie chicken, which remains the best in town, to round things out. The service outstanding as usual. Great team. Nice night.
10 out of 10 as expected from Tom Douglas
Classic, American, great weathered "been around" atmosphere, but cool. Everything was spot on, from the food to the service. Can't wait to get back, maybe even sit at the bar.
It was a perfect spot for a cold rainy Seattle evening. Good cocktails great food and yes the Coconut Cream Pie exceeded expectations. Cheers
Food was well prepared well but nothing stood out as phenomenal given the price. We ordered the lamb chops and pasta. I should have gotten the steak which seemed to have alot of good reviews.
Great food. Fantastic server.
Fabulous service and Brussel sprouts that were amazing!
Our meal was outstanding. Service was great. The only down side was the temperature in the restaurant. It was actually pretty cold. Most diners kept their winter coats on.
Upon entry through the front door, there was no hostess. We waited as 12 other people that arrived after us were seated. Once we were seated I believe we appeared annoyed as our waiter commented that we seemed ready to order. The waiter was fantastic and the food was good.
I apologize on behalf of management for your rough start with us! That is certainly not the first impression we aim for :( We appreciate your patience, and I'm pleased you ended up with the service you deserve from a Tom Douglas restaurant!
