Orso - NYC
Shocking for within the theatre district, Orso is a lovely place where you can hear your conversation without screaming. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the individualized plates are truly happy making.
Did the special was great, service was great, just the correct amount of attention and our water glass was always full
Always delicious...always dependable..always where I want to eat in the Theatre District...
A lovely dining experience.
Been going for years, One of my favorite places in NYC Michael Kriston
The food and service were excellent. Both my wife and I highly recommend Orso.
ALWAYS a WINNER!!!! Great service and DELICIOUS, AS ALWAYS! GO!!!!!
Great Pre-theatre meal
Loved the food and service
Delicious beyond measure from the fish to the pastas to the desserts;great friendly service.
Great food and very efficient and kind service. Would recommend!
One of my favorites for theater district dining. Just as good as I remember from when I lived in NYC.
There is something very special about this place. The food is excellent, as is the service, but the whole is even greater than the sum of its parts. Warm and welcoming and always a joy.
On the hottest day of the summer, the air conditioning was not working; in fact, it hadn't been working for the previous three weeks we were told. Totally unacceptable! The food was over-cooked. I've been going to Orso, both in L.A. and NYC for the past 30 years. At one time, Orso in NYC wasn't the typical theater district tourist joint. They've 'dumbed" it down to just that. At one time, it used to be an Italian restaurant. Not anymore. The very limited wine list tells me that they're not interested in the discriminating diner.
My granddaughter just turned —16 and was visiting from London and so we went to theatre and Orso to celebrate her birthday
Tasty food and great service.
The menu was very limited. There was pizza offered so it was expected to be an Italian. No veal , one chicken, one fish, a pork chop and a shrimp. That was it plus 3 pastas. No Caesar salad. We both ordered the beet salad which was absolutely tasteless. However, the dessert of tartufo was outstanding. We had been there a number of years ago and even though its proximity to the theatre district is a draw, we would never recommend it nor return.
The AC was not working and the room was too warm for dining. I wished the restaurant had called to alert me of the situation so that I could have changed our dining arrangments.
Great food and experience. Went with the Monday special, a two course meal
That was delicious.
We are from Birmingham, AL and Orso has been one of our goto NYC restaurants when we visit for at least 20 years or more
It's hard to find a decent meal around Times Square, but Orso is a perennial favorite. Nothing too fancy, but a straightforward Italian menu, pleasant ambiance, and great service. Also good for people-watching; I've never failed to see at least one celebrity dining there every time!
The perfect place to eat after the theater. Convenient, quiet, delicious, with great and courteous service, even at 11:00pm!
Orech and bread with bean dip were outstanding. Service was attentive but not very personable. Overall a good experience, though.
First time there and was pleasantly surprised by the food, service and decor.
We had a wonderful time. Service was excellent and food superb.
buon ristorante tranquillo e semplice.
Cucina con un occhio ai gusti americani ma si mangia bene ed ad un prezzo corretto.
We were delighted with the food and the service. The room is small and could be loud if it were filled. However, when we were there it was perfect. The hummus served with the bread is outstanding. One member of our group is vegetarian and loved the hummus. They happily served an extra dish to go with the excellent roast cauliflower.
Wine prices were reasonable and selection limited but fine. Prices were lower than expected in the NYC theatre district and, in fact, reasonable for any city.
Would expect to go again and highly recommend.
Great food, great service, been many time and will keep going back! Love it for post-theater dinner.
Enjoyed the orrrechite pasta although not al dente. Grilled asparagus perfect!
We love the liver!!!! Everyone so friendly . One of our fav go to places pretheater.
Orso for pre-theater dinner. Noisy but that is Manhattan! Food, service and attention to detail were top drawer. Best Italian food in the theater district. Bravo!
The restaurant was very hot. Service was fair. My halibut was small and dry and not very flavorful. My husband's meal was good. I won't go back despite being convenient to the th etre.
We found Orso to be quite good. My wife had the risotto which was delicious and perfectly prepared. The biggest challenge was the halibut which is what I ordered. It was incredibly dry, which led me to believe it was not fresh. Daughter had the scallops which were nicely prepared and presented. Her boyfriend had the rigatoni - fine but nothing to write about. For apps we got both the mussels and the Buffalo mozzarella. Both were good, not amazing and probably not worth the price. We would go there again.
I love Orso. I have been going there since it opened, many moons ago. Great food, great service, great ambiance.
Having eaten here many times in the past, we were very disappointed in the food. The beet salad which we asked to split was tiny - should have been advised by the waitress. Had to order an additional green salad. Both ordered the halibut - it was rather dry, and the haricots vert which accompanied it consisted of 3 pieces, each about 1 1/2 inches.
Very expensive dinner/ very fair food. Will not return.
I especially liked that our reservation was honored after cancelling mid day due to a conflict. The location and ambience was perfect.
Good food, good, friendly service & I love the Vietri pottery on which the food is served
Love this place...always have..for decades...best Theatre district Italian..a treasure
Terrific food, service and ambiance!
Great place to eat before or after the theatre. Feels like the show is still going on!
