First time back to Off the Hook in about a year, and it is not the same place I remember frequenting. Service was so slow ... we just ordered oysters, grilled calamari salad and fish and chips and it took more than an hour. Perhaps it was an off night.
However while the oysters were very fresh, they were not shucked so we had to pull them from the shell. This was not the case a year ago when I was a regular. The salad was fresh yet the calamari rings were inedible. I showed the server how I could not even break one in two by stretching it and she tried to convince me that "calamari is always tough" I am a big foodie and cook, and I know better. I requested she ask the chef to eat one and if he could I will pay for my dish. Needless to say it was taken off the bill.
Not sure if I will risk another Saturday night on this place although we may just come back for the fish and chips.
Food was good and so was the service. Sat in outdoor space and it was great.
A great find in astoria
Seafood was delish! Ordered oysters and steamed clams to start and they were awesome! Entrees were delicious! Waitress was very attentive and friendly!
It was good
The food at Off The Hook was good. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious and I had the fish tacos which were also pretty good. The prices were reasonable although I thought we'd get more shrimp in the shrimp cocktail. We also ordered a dozen oysters which were delicious but thought it was odd that they did not give you a horseradish unless you asked for it. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoy Seafood
Loved the food. Had a great experience. Worth the drive to Astoria.
This is one of our favorite restaurants! It can get a little smokey, but other than that, I HIGHLY recommend this place for a great meal.
When I came in saying that I had a reservation for an outdoor table at 7:30pm he said it's first come first serve and there is nothing they can do about it. What about contacting the people who manage opentable or contacting the customers Even then they didn't have an inside table ready. The bartender was rude when explaining how it works. Its a reservation for a reason. The food and table service was good.
Awesome food and service. Highly recommend the lobster sandwich. Clams and oysters very fresh.
Nice vibe and service matches the excellent food bit small in the inside but also has outdoor dining
The menu for Father's Day was more expensive than expected and the service was very slow - had to ask for a basket of bread when the bottle of wine showed up 20 minutes before the oysters -- and it seemed like an annoyance to expect bread with a meal.
It’s a great place for friends to meet up. The rum selection is extensive. The $1 oysters for happy hour is great value. I have eaten here a few times and food is consistent and delicious. The portions are generous.
Good food, drinks, and atmosphere. Staff was nice and friendly
Off the Hook was literally off the hook. This restaurant is so fantastic!! From the signature cocktails, to appetizers, to dinner, everything was top notch. Fresh and delicious!! It is a must try!!
This is a hidden gem! Their brunch menu was fabulous. I got the waffles with fried oysters and was not disappointed! I often go there for happy hours cause they have a good deal. Definitely would recommend it!
Our waitress must've been working by herself on a busy Friday nite (Good Friday where fish would be what would be popular) and this establishment did not have enough service. Food came warm not hot ( a table of 6 where 2 ordered boils and it was warm to cold in temperature.. waited almost an hour for plates to be cleared and the prospects of dessert coming in a timely fashion wasn't high. Been here before when it wasn't busy.... good then but a really long drawn out unpleasant experience when it is busy.
2nd time here. Food and service, great. Great wine selection. Some tables wobble, need comfortable seats. But all in all great.
Staff is on point. Even when there's a lot of ppl in the restaurant and not as much staff
The food was great. $1.00 Oyster hour, happy hour, crazy hours. Love it. The service, ambiance, food, staff were amazing. Located in Astoria, a walking distance away.
Delicious seafood! Mondays / $1 oysters.
Great food and service. Small seating capacity but that kept the noise level down for good conversation at your table. Also very nice ambience.
Our food was really excellent, I got the shrimp mofongo and my bf got the fried fish. The only downside was that the service was extremely slow, but I believe they were training a new waitress. I would give this place another chance bc the food was so good!
Amaaazing fish and chips - that curry dipping sauce: dammmn.
Food was amazing, service was spectacular, our server was friendly and extremely courteous. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
Do yourself a favor and try the lobster roll.
Amazing dinner overall :)
I would go again. Some items on the menu were over priced but aside from that it was a decent experience.
The catch of the day is the best item on the menu.
We don't go all the time but always enjoy ourselves when we do. Fresh seafood, great service and a relaxed atmosphere complemented by a full bar if you want a cocktail before dinner. My only complaint would be that the menu and is not extensive and...for the record, their online menu doesn't even tell that full story. If really have to stop in to this one to fully realize how good they are. Go once...you'll definitely go back. Food is delicious and service is great.
This was our first time at this restaurant and I highly recommend it. It's a must visit
Nothing bad to say about this place. Our server Rina is very pleasant and sweet, we came for Brunch. Lobster and grits is amazing. The bloody Mary is on point, the raw oysters is sweet a d for the price of $1 each, can't beat that. We really enjoyed the ambiance and the service.
The food was great, and the service was just as good. The portions were just right and all the food seemed fairly priced.
We just spent my birthday here and it was wonderful. They accommodated about 8 people and the service was stellar. We loved dish we ordered. This feels like such a hidden gem in Astoria. Delicious food with a small business feel. I certainly recommend it.
This place was great! We had the seafood boil, lobster Mac, and the ribs! Everything was amazing, the ribs could have a little more sauce but very tasty! I’m the manager of a restaurant in Manhattan and with my experience I can say the service was perfect, I didn’t get the waitresses name unfortunately. Going back for sure !
Some of the best fried fish I’ve had (and I grew up eating it fresh out of the ocean in the Caribbean). Really outstanding meal.
Off the hook has fresh oysters and clams. The best happy hour too! I am a regular customer here for a reason
Fresh happy hour oysters! Delicious food, love everything that we ordered. Highly recommended
The waitress was pleasant and the place looks good. The food however was overpriced and under seasoned. Ordered a dinner for two that was sized like an appetizer. The portion size disappointed me less than the taste of the food.
We decided to go because I was in the mood for a lobster roll. Once we were there, we decided to also try the arugula salad with grilled calamari and fried calamari. They were great! The calamari were perfectly cooked. Many places overcook them and then they get rubbery- Not here!
My lobster roll was delicious! It came with homemade potato chips (I ate every one!).
The service was great too! We will go back!!
