We drank and dined here pre the Lionel Ritchie concert. Lovely quiet haven with comfortable chairs. We ate the 'Sea' platter. Very generous portions of mackerel, salmon and rye bread. Delicious squid in chilli sauce and herrings, all washed down with a lovely Californian Merlot. Would definitely use this bar again when visiting the 02.
Good bar but limited food options so can't really rate as a dining experience. Amazing cocktails with 4 sharing platters available. They were good but overpriced.
Cant comment on food or drink as we were booked in but couldn't get served.
Shocking lack of service, apart from the pleasant and efficient receptionist. The waiter gave us menus with barely a word, walked away never to be seen again. And the place wasn't even busy (unsurprisingly perhaps?)!
All good, thank you. :)
Decor trying a bit too hard to be trendy and missing the mark- and an atmosphere of Starbucks or Sainsburys. Had to ask for service from busy staff in dodgy Mismatched uniforms that attempted to resemble airline uniforms and failed as cheap and nasty. One cocktail (daquari) arrived in a glass with about 2 egg cups full of liquid, the other (Maiden Voyage) came in a 1930s vase which was so large and heavy it required two hands to hold. We decided to forgo food and head elsewhere. Final insult to injury was an additional drink that was added to our bill erroneously. Never again
As this was a special occasion I expected more. The service was incredibly slow. We had to order drinks from the bar as no one attended to us - these eventually arrived after the food. When the food arrived there was no cutlery or plates to eat it from. Although our waiter was very apologetic I felt this was not in keeping with the Virgin name and usual standard of service
Great cocktails and service. Atmosphere a little sterile but it was quite early. Husband didn't think the platter at £20 was very good value for the amount and content.
An oasis of calm for a pre show drink at the O2 & given the location drinks are not bad value either
Great place to go for a drink/food before a concert.
Before any major event at the O2 it is a nightmare to eat, drink or sit anywhere prior to it's start due to overcrowding. Ny-Lon is out of the way, classy and great that it's reservation only. Styled like a Virgin Airport Lounge, its airy, clinical and demure. Their cocktails are really nice, slightly on the City of London price of circa £10 each. They offer simple sharing platters of anti-pasti type food which is also nice. Whilst seated in a booth area, you press a bell like you would do in an aircraft seat which makes the light above the booth flash, notifying a member of staff you are ready to request service.
I think it's the best way and place in the O2 to get ready for a 'concert' in comfort and style.
The second time I have visited NY-LON and actually served by the same lovely waiter, Alex. This time with group of the girls. Love Virgin clubhouse feel, so the ambience was great. Service very friendly, fun but professional .....and great food platters! 10/10!
Good sized area reserved for us and when two additional friends wanted to join us on the eve it wasn't an issue- we visited before the Adele concert on tuesday. Nice little place- we had a particularly attentive server called Alex who was fantastic and very on the ball to get drinks to us. We placed an order for one of the food platters and when it still hadn't arrived nearly an hour later (and 10 minutes before the concert started!!) we had to cancel it and went into the show hungryu. Given that these aren't even cooked-there are only 3 choices and they are literally things on a platter NY-LON really needs to sort this out- there is no excuse and we saw other tables complaining about the same. Great for drinks, nice concept bar worth a visit but eat elsewhere before!!
If you are looking for somewhere to be taken care of, and receive outstanding service, then NY-LON is your spot!
I cannot stress how amazing the bar staff and waiters/resses are at this bar. Came with a group of approx. 15 and every single person commented on the bartenders and the service.
The only suggestion I would say is perhaps more choice on the menu/sharing platters and perhaps a variety of music, as if felt a bit like background music (although I'm guessing this is the ambience that is wanted).
If you are looking for somewhere to go for drinks in the O2, then the only place you need to head to is NY-LON. About time SE London had a decent, classy, lounge bar!! To the staff that worked Saturday night just gone (12th March)... you guys and gals are a true asset!!! Looking forward to another drink there soon!
Overall it was a really lovely unique place in the 02, quiet on a Thursday but we ( my date n I ) didn't mind, worked out really well in my book.
I wonder how the place would be on a somewhat busy night.
The drinks ( cocktails) were lovely.. Can't complain
I would recommend, if you are looking for something calm with well lit booths and quiet atmosphere
I dragged a friend here as a mutual meeting place and what seemed like a good cocktail bar for the area. For a Friday night it was very quiet. However, the staff were very friendly and prompt. We didn't eat any good but the drinks were original and packed a tasty punch. It'd be nice to come when there was some atmosphere. I'd come back again for drinks if looking for something in the neighbourhood.
The atmosphere and the food itself were lovely. None of the members of staff were particularly rude but the service was below standard. The venue was relatively empty (only one other party than mine) but the service was extremely slow. Not once did pressing the buzzer on the table get the attention of a member of staff, despite being pressed by myself and my friends several times. Each time we needed assistance, I had to wave my arms around frantically as there were very few times a member of staff could be seen. Furthermore, on 3 seperate occasions, a member of staff completely ignored my attempts and the attempt my friend, in catching her attention, despite her looking in my direction and the verbalisation of my need of assistance.
I booked Ny-lon as a surprise for my mate's birthday unfortunately when we arrived we were told there was no food! Ny-lon only serves food when there are special events at o2. They dis have 2 sharing board options but at £40 for 2 ppl this didn't work for us. The atmosphere itself is very pretty with well lit booths. The cocktails are nice so I would suggest this place for drinks and chill out before the main event.
In truth NY-LON is really just a bar with a few bar snacks. It is nicely decorated to look like an airline lounge and it feels like one. Think the kind of quiet atmosphere and bar type snacks you might find in any airline lounge. The barman is very talented at juggling bottles and making cocktails, but don't go if you want to eat.
By the Way, it's so new it does not appear on most of the O2 maps and people call it nylon :)
The Virgin NY-LON lounge at the O2 Arena really does feel like a comfortable airport lounge - less the departure screens and anticipation of imminent travel. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive and the drinks and food sophisticated and stylish (though the fish pie which I'd selected from the fairly limited food menu was unfortunately not available).
It's far from the cheapest place to spend time while waiting for someone who's attending a concert, but it's very relaxed and the facilities are excellent.
Nice bar, adds something new to the 02, I loved the ambience. Very nice little booths for groups of people. Good cocktails and great service
Arrived and place was almost empty and we were given the worst seating arrangement in the entire facility just by the entrance. Was given the excuse that it was fully booked and this was why. And when stating that we booked this 3 months ago so we should have received a better seating, the excuse made was that people probably have called to book a specific seated area, which we knew was just a 'fob off'. Had to make nice conversation with the welcome desk team and Manager to finally be seated at a better place. Appreciated this. We spent over £200 in the bar so it was not like we weren't worth it ;-). And it wasn't because we looked like a hobbit or anything that we were seated badly, quite the opposite haha.
When we arrived at Ny-Lon for pre-show food and drinks they said our reservation didn't matter they had no tables... all thee other people had reservations as well and those people over there had been there fro 5 hours... I had kicked up a fuss and told them we were having a birthday outing and that they had better find a table.. They clearly had no idea what to do - but all of a sudden 3 or 4 tables left all at once. By then we had a drink in our hand and were fairly happy to stand and drink it.. they were very apologetic and our waiter just on the right side of over-friendly and attentive. We even went back for more drinks after the show. Food is for sharing and good for a snack with drinks and it's a good place to meet pre-show but i wouldn't go there for any other reason.
Disappointing, inconvenient, irritating and without doubt our poorest experience ever at the 02.
On arrival, a sign on the door announced 'Closed for private party'. Odd, we thought - we have a booking through Opentable. We were eventually led through to the lounge, away from the corporate event in full swing.
After waiting ten minutes, a waitress took our drinks order and offered us menus. We immediately ordered all of the small plates on offer, headlined as 'The best of New York and London', explaining that we wanted to leave before 6.
Twenty-five minutes later, again after having to check where our order was, we were told that the small plates were in fact not available!
I asked to see the manager who was unable to give us a reason for his inability to brief his staff as to what was available and what wasn't. The lounge wasn't busy and in all we wasted the best part of an hour to find out we wouldn't get fed.
We refused to pay for the drinks, which was received without surprise. I got the feeling it wasn't the first time that had happened.
Now, the reasons for bothering to write this review -
We were entertaining two important clients, who we convinced to try 'a unique experience' - one of the establishment's slogans!
The booking was for 5.15 in order to have a quick drink and light meal before returning to the arena to see the ATP doubles match scheduled to start at 6.
Our friends managed to get a table at Gaucho, which was good, both for service and food. However, we had to miss most of the match, so that our guests got some dinner.
With the 'Virgin Atlantic' name holding pride of place as you enter the reception area, we anticipated the same sort of service we usually receive when travelling with them, which is often. This bizarre episode is hopefully a one-off.
My-LON - train your staff properly and treat customers with respect. Otherwise they'll suss you out, review, tweet and talk about you in the negative way your offering currently deserves.
We pre booked an offer only a few hours before getting to NY LON. When we got there they no longer had that offer but had very little other choice of food also. No deserts either. Cocktails were good though and service was attentive. Not good value though.
Lovely ambience and great bathrooms and spacious table for 2 of us. An oasis of calm away from the busy O2. Not much time to linger as the show started at 8pm and our reservation was 7pm. Food was good but the young foreign staff were not very skilled nor able to understand English very well. In short, very sophisticated location, nice food but service was not at the level of the surroundings.
We visited on an evening where there was not an event taking place at the O2 Arena so was much quieter than would normally be the case.
That said, the O2 Site was busy and the place provided a secret haven of style and sophistication away from the chain restaurants that can be found there.
One key feature is that is located outside the turnstiles of the Arena, so would be of particular interest to those not attending a show and who may well be celebrating a special event.
The tapas style menu of small bites and sharing boards were well prepared and presented and the range of cocktails expertly mixed and served with a flourish. To cap it all the server was extremely well informed about the menu and was passionate about the whole concept of the venue.
We will certainly visit again.
I came to Nylon Bar for my grad celebrations and I absolutely loved it! The drinks were fairly priced, the service was fantastic, the people who worked there were so polite, bubbly, fun and made the whole experience pleasant. The venue itself was chic, elegant and such a comfortable place to chill and relax! Me & my guests were thoroughly satisfied!
I had booked NY-LON for a drink and some food for 7:30pm before the Michal Mccintyre performance on a Friday evening. I'd booked here for the small plate items on the menu.
On arrival we ordered some cocktails (priced 2 for 1) looking forward to sampling the menu. We were advised there were only 2 items left on the small plates menus but that the sharing boards were available. The reason given was that they didn't expect to be so busy. I ask you, Friday night before Michael Mccintyre and they expected it to be as quiet as a mid week evening with no show on. Given the small plate items were already overpriced and must surely have generated good margin for them it beggers belief that at the same time they're offering cocktails on a 2 for 1 basis. Disappointed customers and poor margins for NY-LON. Lose Lose.
They had run out of a few things on the menu which was disappointing. But a nice place to go to when waiting for your show to start.
The welcome we received upon arriving was good and staff were friendly. We were quickly issued with a drinks menu. However, after waiting for 10/15 mins nobody came back so we ordered a bottle of prosecco at the bar.
Prosecco was cold, which was great.. It did not get opened though so we did this ourselves at the table. Nobody said they did food options, we found out by asking and really only snacks are available.
We did not see any staff at our table during the hour we were there apart from when we were walking to leave and a waiter insinuated we were leaving without paying our bill!!
This is a bar, not a restaurant.... Overall, very disappointing.
Amazing bar it was like having our own private metropolis considering everywhere else was riddled with thousands of one direction fans! At first we were the only ones there, largely because it's very new and know one knows about it. We did ask for snacks such as crisps or nibbles but they only had olives so don't go hungry.....unless you like olives! Wine was nice and I'd definitely go again for a pre/post show drink at the O2!
Connor served my sister and I and was very attentive as well as impeccable with timing of service in general.
This collaboration between Delta & Virgin airlines will definitely impress your partner or friends when you are heading out for a show at the O2, and want to grad a few drinks earlier in a slightly classier environment.
Though I would avoid using the facilities as they were left in a pretty poor state even when there were only four people in the bar.
