We were looking for a restaurant near the convention center at last minute. This is an old converted molasses factory. Very nice menu, reasonably priced. Excellent service and drinks as well. Worth a visit. More

This was a hidden gem. I went for birthday brunch and was treated like a queen, champagne and all. I had food allergies and they honored each one (which can be hard in the city) they even asked what dessert profile I liked and the dessert chef created a gluten free and allergen free delight for me that was perfect with candle and all. The rest of the group really enjoyed their French pastries as appetizers and everyone’s main breakfast was done perfectly. I had the smoked salmon with dill eggs and salad. The service was really an honorable mention. Our waitress and the house managers went above and beyond from start to finish. We will be back... can’t wait to try cocktails and dinner. This is a no brained stop for any meal, or any special occasion or for no occasion at all, just to have a perfect experience. The ambiance is Devine and picture perfect as well. This is a hidden gem and we will be back! More

Beginner pains...We were greeted at 8p about 15 mins before reservation, were asked politely to wait until closer to reservation time. I was a bit annoyed as the bar area is narrow and you feel like you’re in the way as agitated servers and busters push past. There were open tables the whole time so I just walked over and asked to be seated and they did. I don’t believe they planned on coming over to bar. Excellent value awesome outdoor area, solid food and drinks...the new fashioned with rum was excellently made, very nice value wines from 2oz pours to carafes. Would like two or three more premium wines included. Beet salad was delicious, and creative. Duck confit flatbread was very good, satisfying. Short rib a little tough, not quite melt in your mouth like others. Server was coughing/no voice , seemed to be getting over a cold, might want to keep an eye on letting servers work when they sound like that. She was a little wacky, but fun and attentive. Overall a great shot at trying to keep night diners in this part of CBD. The al fresco dining area is pretty special as well. Just need to tighten up the greeting process and maybe put a few shelves or a drink rail up for people to place their drink and congregate before their table is ready. More

Amazing food and presentation for the tasting menu. Third week of the month is the vegetarian menu, which was fantastic when we went. The staff, chef and owners were all super-charming as well. Every dish was a surprise and most (if not all) featured ingredients fresh from their garden. I wish I could eat like this every night. More

Creole / Cajun / Southern | French Quarter, New Orleans

Gumbo is a New Orleans staple and here at Gumbo YaYa we’ve taken gumbo to an art form. Our location in the historic Jax Brewery building serves the very best of this Louisiana concoction along with a host of other culinary delights sure to please every palette.

Let’s start at the very beginning – our crafted Gumbos. Our namesake Gumbo YaYa is a mixture of gulf shrimp, oyster blue crab, chicken and andouille sausage. Choose from other scrumptious recipes like our 7-steak gumbo, Seafood and Okra gumbo, Duck and Andouille sausage and much more or, if you’re not in the mood for gumbo (and there may be a time) we have several other soups to choose from.

But Gumbo is just the beginning. Stick to your ribs entrees, Fried Seafood platters, AMAZING sandwiches and Po’ Boys are there for your pleasure. Add in amazing, down-home sides, a robust kids menu and desserts, desserts and more desserts and this will be the ONLY place you’ll want to stopMore
