    We tried @nabuki_sushi_hinsdale in Hinsdale for a date night recently. The restaurant had a lovely vibe. We started with the yuzutini and a glass of sake, both delicious. We loved the Asian taco appetizer, great way to begin the meal. This was followed by a handful of sushi rolls and nigiri.     I always enjoy Nabuki. Yesterday the service was less than stellar. Three wait staff were sharing the work which resulted in no one being available when we needed something. While one of the wait staff was trying to be helpful to answer questions about the menu, it was a bit invasive. She went on and on about things we were not going to order. There was a cold draft blowing be the sushi bar which gave me a chill.

    Normally, we love Nabuki and enjoy our time there. However, on this night we checked in with the hostess for our 5:45pm reservation. Upon confirming our reservation, she asked, in a snippy tone if we would be done by 7:45pm because they had another reservation booked at that time for our table. It came off rude and off putting to be told “make sure you’re out because we have another reservation”. We replied sure. Our waitress was very sweet but they forgot our rolls. We were waiting, while other tables that came in after us were served their food and we were still waiting. The waitress was gone awhile and when she realized we didn’t have our rolls she went and got them. Funny, considering the rude hostess wanted to be sure we were out quickly. We also noticed, since we were seated near the hostess stand, that no one else was told they needed to be out by a particular time. It was obvious the hostesses were very young but it matters how you say things to paying customers and it set a bad tone for the dinner. Not to mention-service was quite slow as well which wasn’t our fault. We kept laughing that if we weren’t out on time-it was their problem not ours. Educate your hostesses better, we were polite about it-others would not take her comments as nicely as we did.

    Great food , good service. The atmosphere was much more casual than I was expecting and the tv in the bar takes away from the Asian vibe.

    Love Nabuki but our most recent experience was a miss. We sat on the patio and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come and greet us. The table next to us actually got up and left. When our server did come, she had real IDGAF energy. Felt hurried and unbothered - not super hospitable. It was my husband's birthday and I noted that in the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged at all.

    One of our favorite spots, but the service tonight was terrible. Our waitress didn't know the menu, had no clue that a Sauvignon Blanc was white wine, and would disappear for long stretches. Very disappointing.
