We had reservations, but it wasn't crowded on a Wednesday night, we were seated right away. We did wait a bit for a waiter but there was a large party so understandable and we were talking so all good. Our Waite, Aaron, was excellent and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back.
This is our “go to” place when we want to introduce friends to dining in Red Bank. The food is always authentic with quality and fresh ingredients. The staff is very amicable and helpful. We have been to Monticello over 20 times and never disappointed.
BYOB is a bonus. Our go to place for quality food with friendly staff.
Great quality food. A real find in Red Bank. Takes Italian food to a high level. Very creative dishes also. Highly recommended.
This used to be my favorite restaurant. I really enjoy the fact that it is BYOB. Unfortunately,
we had sticker shock when we got the bill. One appetizer, 4 meals, 2 desserts. Well over $200 for the
4 of us. I do not think I will go back.
Totally enjoyed our dinner before a show at Count Basie on Friday night! Our waitresss was awesome and the food was superb! Will definitely go back!
Let me lead off with, the food was great. That said, the restaurant was half full, yet it was over an hour before the server took our order. 45 mins later appetizers. Two and a half hours later our mains came out. A three hour, three course meal...a bit much. Service was poor, definitely not worth the wait given other options in Red Bank.
Nor did they acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday, which I annotated in the reservation. Oh well.
Great dining experience. Fantastic service and excellent cuisine
Things got off to a bad start after we were seated at a table squished between another couple (table about a foot away), and a wall next to the kitchen. This was despite the fact that there were several other 2-person tables available, and we had made a reservation. Fortunately, the hostess did move us after we requested it. The server was hard to understand (thick accent, I think), and most of the night he was fairly inattentive. We shared the house salad, which was ok, but dry due to insufficient dressing. My wife asked if the gnocchi in the "special" was homemade. The waiter assured her that it was even better than homemade since it was "imported from Italy". Based on that claim she ordered it and was sorely disappointed - in fact it was the frozen, rubbery kind you can buy in the supermarket, and that is served at low end Italian restaurants. I ordered the "tiger prawns" served with a light cream sauce over an angel hair type pasta. The pasta and the sauce were tasty, but the shrimp were a big disappointment - only 3 tiny shrimp that definitely were not tiger prawns. If nothing else, Monticello is consistent. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding and it was the worst we ever had - hard and crunchy. All in all a disaster that cost $92 with tax and tip. About the only thing that was good was that it was BYOB so we saved on the wine.
I've been here many times. At first I couldn't say enough positive things about the place. I simply feel like the service has fallen off incrementally with each visit. We like the fact that it's BYOB, and the food is usually solid.
Great service. Excellent food. Terrific value. What more can you say.
The best and most accommodating Gluten Free Italian restaurants around. Everything I've ever had is delicious. I never order the same thing because there are so many options. For someone with Celiac's that's unheard of. I'm done trying to new restaurants in Red Bank, they come and go. Monticello's is always good, you can get a reservation and its reasonable. Don't forget its BYOB!
Great spot! Delicious food, BYO... Good value. Can’t wait to return. Only negative is that when full , the acoustics aren’t great and it can get noisy... Still recommend.
Food delicious! Server wonderful! Place needs to renovated badly. They also need to choose different music to play They played Club music. I really like this restaurant but have decided to look at other places first because of the atmosphere and music to be honest...
A great restaurant, good food, great service.
The prix fixe meal was delicious and a great value. We had the caesar salad, chicken parmigiana, and the
Papardelle Monticello. All were wonderful! The ice cream berries dessert was the perfect ending! Will definitely be back!
the food was excellent..... the service could be a little more attentive....
Food was excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant.
Had anniversary dinner with wife before show at Two River Theater. Both meals were excellent, staff were friendly and ambience was nice. Recommend dining early before crowd arrives.
Always a nice quiet meal there. Service with a smile.
Service wasn’t great this time around, food is pretty good, and it’s kind of loud in the narrow room
Burratta ravioli was heavenly ! All of the food was delicious!
A great meal and excellent service! I love the gluten free options, including the calamari appetizer!
Intimate BYOB with excellent food. A good choice for date night!
Awesome place. Food was nothing short of excellent and the service was perfect. Will be back soon.
Food was delicious and fresh. Service was good. The waitress was willing to explain any of the dish preparations on the menu.
The dessert was outstanding.
Second time to the restaurant. Again very good service and food. My wife loves their array of gluten free options. Looking forward to our next visit.
There is nothing quite like the $20 prix fixe. Terrific value, delicious, many entree choices. Have already recommended to about 10 friends!
Overall great calamari and good food. Had to move outside because AC was down but preferred that anyway.
Burrata Ravioli in the open fire tomato and bacon cream sauce was unbelievable. But the Sicilian Bread Pudding was even better. We found our go to BYO Italian place in Red Bank. Highly recommend.
Food is very good and consistent. Fair prices and good size portions.
Food was excellent, service and ambiance was very good. High recommend for Italian Cuisine.
Favorite restaurant and dine there about twice a month
Food and service were great as usual.
Waiter and staff were excellent and 3 course Price Fix $20 dinner cannot be beat!!
Great gluten free options. Finding a place that does GF calamari is always a treat! We will return when in Red Bank again!
Monticello does not disappoint! Food, Service were Outstanding as usual.
We have there many times. The Food is always good and consistent. Service was good as it usually is. Once it start to get
Busy it does get a little loud. Would definitely recommend.
Hadn't been to Monticello in years. Had a wonderful meal. Service was great. Asked to substitute spinach for risotto (since I couldn't have any grains) was told they didn't have spinach but my table mate had spinach with their meal, that was a little strange. Other than that we had a great dinner and will be back soon!
Unexpected treasure our party of four really enjoyed this restaurant. Food was excellent with many gluten free options. Our waitress was very accommodating to my elderly in inlaws nothing was too much trouble. It is also a BYOB which is always a plus being wine drinkers. Are going back again in August and looking forward to it immensely.
