I have dined here a few times on other visits to Manhattan and will return on another trip.
As the Coronavirus brings theater closings and social distancing, it is saddening to see an excellent facility sparsely populated.
Exceptional service, authentic menu, comfortable environs. Although it was not very busy when we dined there, it was quiet and relaxing. Would definitely return and recommend.
Excellent and fresh middle eastern dishes and very accommodating. Great place to go if you are near Carnegie Hall
Short ribs were the best I've ever had. Everything was amazing
Great Greek food. Some of the best that I have had in the city.
We always love dining at Molyvos, for the outstanding food and cocktails, the welcoming ambience, and the superlative service.
The food is always one step beyond what you might find in traditional Greek restaurants. Even the somewhat generic Greek Salad is not what you would expect. The spread dishes were a bit small for sharing. Grilled fish was prepared to perfection. Overall the food and the service was excellent, but a tiny bit pricey. Will definitely come again!
One of our regular stops when we're in midtown Manhattan. Greek food very fresh and delicious.
Great food and ambience. The downside was the service was stiff.
Molyvos offers excellent Greek dishes and wines and the staff are friendly and helpful. This is an excellent choice for neighborhood residents and people going to theatres and concert sites in the area,
Always welcoming. Good food. Excellent pre-Carnegie dinner.
Pleasant and attentive service. The lamb is outstanding. Great location by Carnegie Hall
Very pleasant, a lovely way to begin a Carnegie Hall evening!
Porzioni ottime e abbondanti. Gentilezza e professionalità nel servizio. Un angolo di vera Grecia a NYC
Updated decor, refined Greek cooking. Range of seating aread
The food was amazing. If you like Octopus make sure you try there appetizer.
The food (octopus appetizer, scallops and lavraki with sauteed spinach) was exceptional, and service was outstanding. Will definitely return for another wonderful meal!
Delicious food and great service!
A great Greek restaurant in the Wellington Hotel. Perfect location for anyone attending an event at New York City Center, as we were. A lovely menu and friendly staff. We parked our car at City Parking , 77 West 55th Street Garage.
Lovely, delicious place to dine before Carnegie Hall events, or any event!
We sat at the bar for lunch and had a lovely meal, including a very interesting chat with Kamal who, among other duties, buys the wines for Molyvos. The wine list is extraordinary; we enjoyed both a red and a white.
Labor shortage in the kitchen. They either forgot or were backed up on our order.
Excellent Greek food. Fish was super fresh and the menu was reasonably priced for the area and quality. Would highly recommend a visit!
I made an early reservation for my mother and myself for dinner at 5:30. When I arrived I noticed an empty booth. I asked the hostess if we could please sit there. She said no it is for groups of 4 which was fine. However, she seated us at a table for 4 people. When I mentioned this to her she walked away. The entire time we ate the booth remained empty. I ordered one salad and two entrees they only brought us one entree. When I mentioned it they went back and brought the other one out. I just felt we were treated like we were insignificant. The first impression of not allowing us to sit in the booth set the tone. If she would have said it is reserved or given a logical response I would have understood.
Despite having few customers, it took 3 requests for pita and the soup arrived long after a reasonable period. That being said, the spreads and pita were delicious and the flavoring of the greek lemon soup unusually light but flavorful. All would have been fine had the wait staff not been so incredibly neglectful.
We enjoyed the new salad added to the menu but the beef rib though tasty was kind of small for what we were charged . Service was adequate but why was cold air blowing?
Excellent food at very good prices. Great service; very attentive. Nice size portions and very diverse menu. Great value for NYC. Moderate noise level which declines a great deal after 7:30pm when all the theater goers depart.
This is my fifth time dining at Molyvos and it is consistently great! The service is wonderful and the food is always fresh, delicious and interesting. I have had several different things now and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The baklava ice cream sundae is not to be missed! Lovely wine selection as well. Very comfortable atmosphere and I love that the hostess asked us where we would prefer to be seated rather than just deciding for us as most places do.
Though I truly love Molyvos and have since it opened decades ago but, lunch for 2 for over $200 is not what I consider a fair price. The service is brisk and professional but each of the servers that came to our table didn't appear to be happy campers. A smile, please? Otherwise, the food and most everything else was 10+. Oh, it was my husband's birthday and the restaurant knew ahead of time. The result? One tiny candle stuck in the trip of a cut strawberry alongside the dessert he ordered...and paid for. Really Molyvos!
A bit pricey but the food is excellent. Nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner or family night out. Short ribs entree is outstanding as are the desserts. Try this classy hidden gem of a restaurant and judge for yourself.
excellent food and service
great pre theater dinner
Superb! Food was perfect and the service excellent.
Very nice Valentine’s Day meal. Delicious special fixed price menu for the occasion.
Wonderful food. Great service. Definitely will make this a favorite.
Extremely noisy space.........good food and great server.
We were promptly seated at our quiet table of choice in the rear part of the restaurant. At 6:00 pm, the restaurant was quite busy with Carnegie Hall concert-goers and others, so service was a bit slower than usual. My husband’s scallops were quite delicious, my avogolemono soup was tasty but very thin, and our taramasalata was tasty. The wine list is large and Greek, so sometimes it is a bit difficult to identify the desired wine, but overall, it is an excellent spot for pre-concert dining.
Always great. Impeccable service. Delicious food. There are so many choices; it is also a very good choice for vegetarians.
