It was the best turkey dinner I ever had.
We are going to the Metuchen Inn for Christmas. Love this place.
Let's call this a "special occasion" place. Pricey, to be sure, but we enjoyed the dinners and the service. The quality of the food is high, portions were on the generous side of adequate, and the servers struck the right balance between being attentive but not hovering. The markup on the wine list seems higher than usual, so be prepared for a substantial hit if you like wine. One the other hand, we were there for a nice evening and absolutely had the nice evening that we wanted.
Wonderful dinner for our 25th anniversary! Thank you for treating us to a special meal.
Great service and food. High noise level so don't expect an intimate dinner. It quite downs after 8:30-9:00 when diners start to leave.
My favorite restaurant in the county.
A well appointed dining room, impeccable service, and very good food. I was a tad disappointed in the rack of lamb last saturday. It was not medium/pink and had been cooked after it was cut from the rack. I prefer my lamb medium/pink as ordered and to cook the rack, then cut it. Everything else, ie, the osso bucco was fabulous as was our starter, tuna tar tar. Martini's are perfect as well.
We celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary at the Metuchen Inn. Always enjoyed the food and service provided. The staff is very proffesional.
Our server Patrick was GREAT! Excellent food and service. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was very loud and lively, (could barely hear each other). We'll be back.
Lovely place. My husband and I enjoy going for special occasions.
Nice experience. Wait staff was great. One of the waiters forgot my side order and told me my credit card was denied as a joke. A little strange. Would have given 5 stars if not for him.
We celebrated a lovely birthday luncheon. Our waiter George provided impeccable service (thank you!). Our cocktails were delicious. Short rib ravioli also delish. Having overheard it was my mother's birthday our dessert was served with a candle and a plate decorated with a personal message to her delight. Thank you Metuchen for a very special meal and ambiance. We'll be back!
The Metuchen In has a very warm and welcoming ambiance. The food is always fresh and very well-prepared. The wine list is excellent, and the wait staff is beyond the best! The Metuchen Inn is truly the finest restaurant you will find in New Jersey!
Great meal at Metuchen Inn. Celebrating our daughter’s birthday. Constantine and Victor, as usual, outdo themselves in making everything perfect and everyone welcome.
I've frequented Metuchen Inn quite a few times and it has always been consistently a great place do dine. The service is great food is fantastic and I'll continue to go.
We LOVE Metuchen Inn. Food & service are always top-notch. Two things management should consider:
1) we were surprised to see a diner in T-shirt and baseball cap. 2) Acoustics are not great- it gets very noisy.
This is my favorite place in Metuchen and the surrounding towns. It has everything going for it: food, service, friendly owners who are always there, Raina - the best bartender, George and Anom - perfect waitstaff, just everything about this homey restaurant is wonderful. I've been going here for years and will continue for a lot longer.
Very nice place and good service and food. Portions were a little small and pricey. But definitely a good place for client meetings when in the area.
This was my second visit within 7 days. The first time was for lunch and I had scallops which was delicious. I also visited several days later and had dinner. I had scallops for dinner, but this time it was paired with smashed sweet potatoes. I didn't like the pairing of sweet potatoes and the scallops.
As for the restaurant, I love the ambiance and it reminds me of a restaurant my husband and I dined at in Rhode Island.
Overall, I will definitely eat there again... something about it feels different!
Very nice dinner and good waiter . George was efficient and there when needed. Overall very nice restaurant with good food and quaint.
Once again we had a great meal, in a wonderful facility.
The food was delicious and the environment was lovely.
Our experience was excellent. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The food was great. We order the jumbo lump crab meat ravioli. They were filled with lots of meat and the cream sauce was excellent. We have also ordered Osso buco and the meat was very tender and flavorful.
This was a great place to enjoy our wedding anniversary dinner.
George is a wonderful waiter, attentive to every detail! Victor & Constantine are just the best of hosts, welcoming and ensuring our dining experience is perfect!
My favorite restaurant... always the place for a special celebration. The food is excellent but the level of service is what sets metuchen Inn apart. From the greeting by ?Jose, we are made to feel like the most valued customers. george is our favorite server and he is a lovely man. We started with pan seared baby shrimp accompanied by garlic toasts...yummy. Dinners were a veal special with tagliatelle and seared sea scallops. We had a warm chocolate soufflé for dessert...a birthday splurge!
As always, everything was perfect from food to service to ambience.
Great food and service. Enjoyed every minute.
The service, the food, and the atmosphere is excellent. This is a special place. It does have a very small bar to have a drink at while you wait if you can get a seat at the bar. Prices on the drinks and food are very expensive. My wife and I had two drinks at the bar and it was 26.00 - simple drinks too. Add a tip to that and you are over $30.00 Dinner was great but it too was expensive. Two appetizers and main course, with another round of drinks a we split a dessert, $186.00 with tip. Night cost me $216.00 - but my wife was worth it. This place is good only for for special occasions.
Always a great spot for any meal occasion
Our server was Jose, who we believe was also the Maitre'D or manager for the evening. He was extremely pleasant as were the other servers who were helping our table. The food was delicious and the ambiance provided for a wonderful date night for me and my wife. We will definitely be going back here again!
Food was very bland!
Very good food. Upscale environment with white tablecloths and fresh flowers. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion
Wonderful for special occasions and a favorite of ours for lunch.
Very impressive for client entertainment. I had the sliced filet special. Client had the lobster bisque and sliced filet. All was delicious!
Loved the food . service was attentive. Hard to talk over the noise level.
an above average restaurant on par with many of the fine NYC dining spots
Great ambience, delicious food and excellent service!!!
It was a Thursday night, and we wanted a relaxing evening out and decided to revisit The Metuchen Inn. From cocktails to appetizers from wine to our entrees and ending with cappuccinos and dessert, it was a very pleasurable evening. Our server Bill was extremely attentive and personable. All in all, another great experience!
Were seated on time for our reservation. Our server was obviously new to service and did not have any guidance from more experienced staff. He was taken back when we told him that we were ordering from the summertime prix-fixe menu. The restaurant was very crowded, but no one seemed to be eating. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our order was placed. When I had approached the host to ask if there was a problem in the kitchen, he off-handidly said that 2 line cooks hadn't shown up. The greeter and host then brought us our appetizers (which were very good) and said that our entrees would be out shortly. One hour later (2 hours after arrival), we still hadn't been served. We left, and will not return. Our waiter never kept us informed, but was busy setting up tables; the host never came by to explain the delay, offer some type of compensation, etc. This restaurant holds itself out to be a fine dining destination, but its head-in-the-sand attitude is completely unacceptable.
