I made a reservation for 4 less people than the number of guests that actually came, and the staff at messhall was SO generous about giving us appropriate seating. The food was delicious and it was such a fun ambiance! Definitely coming back!
Great food, fun vibe, our toddler son loved it and so did we. Great cocktails.
Messhall is THE place I go to when I need comfort food. Consistently great quality food and cocktails. Always something new each time we go, and terrific staff.
Absolutely terrible night at this restaurant. We turned up on time on New Years Eve. We were greeted by the most miserable of welcomes. Our booking was at 9pm. Not early, not late. By 925 we were finally at a table. In the interim We had a drink at the bar with a nice Barman who once our drinks were mixed said that there was very long wait for food. We went to the table at 927 and were then told by our waitress that half the menu was not available. At this point we walked out. We were then charged $6 for parking for 30 minutes. A terrible experience not to be recommended. If you open on New Year’s Eve please plan properly.
One of my local favorites. The fried chicken sando is a classic. A lively vibe and good food always make for a great time.
I took my daughter here and we had a great time!
Noise level was a little high particularly given that the restaurant was not crowded. The problem was the “background “ musi which was too intrusive. Otherwise we had a very enjoy lunch.
Consistently solid, if not a little bit overpriced. The space is nice, people friendly, and overall it's a good spot.
Fantastic from start to finish. Cocktails always amazing. Food was cooked perfectly. Wait staff are amazing!
We love coming here. The service is great, I can bring my dog, and the cocktails and food are always excellent.
Quiet at lunchtime. Delicious grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup...hit the spot on a cool day. Will come again to try other items. (Don't miss the driveway like I did thinking it was the bank.)
Went for brunch and all parties were unimpressed with their food. Waitress disappeared at end of meal and didn’t come back around for half an hour after we were finished. My omelet had a very very small amount of short rib in it. The biscuit was tiny and “jam” was basically watered down strawberry compote that you would serve on a waffle. Eggs ordered over medium were beyond hard and the sausage links were crunchy. I’ll just stop here.
Great food and service. The only issue is the loud noise level. Can they put something on the ceiling to deaden the noise?
We've been going to Messhall for years and love it. It's one of our favorite restaurants in LA. They recently changed their chicken sandwich which I'm not super excited about because it was a pretty far departure (in a bad way) from what they've been serving for the past few years but other than that the food is generally always good.
Always great service and always great food and drink! Staff is outstanding!
Really good value at Happy Hour. A bit too packed, loud and chaotic for me. Good meet up venue before the Greek.
What a wonderful place to dine. It's so crazy to see what this space has become since I used to do there back in the days when it was still The Derby - sh*t d I feel old.
We dined here right before a concert at The Greek and so glad we did. The food is delicious and the drink selection is very nice. The ambiance too was wonderful, a place that can be equally enjoyed by young and old. I was actually quite surprised at the food cost and expected to pay more, so in that sense, for the great food, ambiance and wonderful service, this is surely a Los Angeles gem.
Great little tip - valet your car, leave a nice tip, have dinner, Uber to The Greek, take a cab back to the restaurant. So convenient!
One of my new favs in L.A.
Awesome dining experience as always
Everything was delicious and the service was great
This place is fantastic. The food was great and service was friendly, engaging and on point. I look forward to another visit.
All the food here is soooooo tasty! And the atmosphere is both comfortable and casual -- yet elegant at the same time.
Nice and close to The Greek Theater- we walked to the show after dinner
Food was good but overpriced. Service was good too. Bad happy hour. I’ve never heard of one that ends at 6 pm. They need to extend it to at least 7 pm. Also, they had a sign outside stating to try their new menu. It was not knew. I ate there a couple years back and it was same menu, except maybe their smaller menu, which looked more like a weekly special thing. Overall, not sure if I’ll come back.
My favorite spot in Los Feliz....an d by far the some of the best cocktails in Los Angeles
The staff is really nice, the setting is dynamic but not annoying. I like that I can get a glance at the TV if football or baseball is on, but it doesn’t dominate the setting. The food is great. We mostly go pescatarian or vegetarian - they have some creative entrees that are always perfectly cooked.
Messhall Kitchen is the perfect place for a weekend brunch and has a nice outside patio.
Great place, Hannah was wonderful and very attentive, the oysters were good not great but the short rib and turkey chili was fantastic, and the brussels sprout side dish was one of the best I've ever had (and I order them everywhere) The drinks were yummy as well. looking forward to going back
We found Mess Hall on Yelp while searching for a pre-show restaurant before a concert at the Greek. It was really close and had great reviews so we went for it. We are so happy we did! The food was great. We got there during Happy Hour so we indulged in some fresh oysters, delicious turkey sliders, wonderful balsamic glazed kale, and a lovely house salad, all to share. Everything was delicious! It’s a lively place with a nice patio. Reserve a table there if the weather is nice.
Good place for happy hour before a concert at the Greek Theatre. The banana dessert is delicious!
Everything about this place was great. We love the idea of roll the dice drink. Husband had a great one me not so good but either way it was fun. Wonderful way to start our concert date.
Love everything about this restaurant, and it sure helps the Greek theater experience because they let you park there!
Upon entering the restaurant, we asked the hostess whether we could sit outside of the restaurant (we had an opentable reservation). The hostess informed us that we should have specifically requested outside seating and that they had a big party coming into the restaurant. I would have found this to be an acceptable reason, however, when we left the restaurant, the same outside tables (that I initially saw) were still empty.
Don't get be wrong, the food (OG cobb salad) I had was delicious, but this initial/post-experience with the hostess was an unpleasant and unfortunate experience.
Despite it being crazy busy due to a concert at the Greek Theater, they were able to accommodate our reservation 10 minute early as soon as we walked in the door. Service was prompt and fantastic. Food was great.
Great Birthday Dinner for my Wife before the Maggie Rogers concert at The Greek.
We were able to get a reservation right away and were seated quickly. Everyone was pleasant and the food was good.
Very limited options for vegans
The Parmesan encrusted eggs at brunch never disappoint! Yum!
It was wondaful! Would recommend again. Drinks are really good.
Great place to have dinner before a show at The Greek. Our only issue was that it’s just too loud.
