Chef-Owners Raul and Olga Reyes come from Alvarado, Veracruz, a town built on a mile-wide strip of land with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and a brackish lagoon on the other. With the bounty of the sea close at hand, fresh seafood is a way of life in Alvarado. But Veracruz is also home to wild boar and turkey, to vanilla orchids and cacao, to tropical fruits and a rainbow of chiles. For nearly five hundred years, the cuisine of Alvarado has evolved through the influence of indigenous, Spanish, French and African cultures in the port city. It is this food that Raul and Olga brought to Dallas with their former restaurant, La Palapa Veracruzana, which the Dallas Observer named the Best Mexican Restaurant in Dallas and that Pegasus News called "fresh, flavorful, unique - a destination for people who like to eat food and talk about it a lot afterwards." Mesa offers the same authentic coastal cuisine Raul and Olga have been cooking and eating since their childhood!

Could be better. Tables in the back room wobble a lot and I feel like I didn't get my moneys worth food portion wise. Also, not huge variety of entrees to choose from.

The staff and food were great! Our waiter suggested the special cocktail and I’m glad he did.

Cannot wait for our next trip to Dallas just for this restaurant! Seafood enchiladas were the best I have ever had and my husband loved the Mole! Everything we had was perfect. The service was great and we loved the atmosphere.

I have Celiac Disease and this is is one of the few restaurants in Dallas where I can safely enjoy food.

Mesa is a solid Mexican restaurant that has it's ups and downs. Consistently up are the margaritas...by far the best in the city in years. Their mole is good, although on the sweeter side. Several of their seafood options are tasty, as well.

We've been going to Mesa since it opened and have watched the progression from a hidden gem to an energetic place to be. The food, drinks, service, and value have always been great. The molé is fantastic. I wish they still had the molé chicken with green beans, but the enchiladas are a close second. The restaurant has become too noisy for me and the tables a bit too close together up front. I hate leaning in and yelling to talk to my husband over dinner. But a lot of restaurants are like this now, so it's not just Mesa that I fault for this trend. We'll just remember to not go on a weekend next time so that it's a little more my speed.

Wife's seafood enchiladas were fantastic. I had the carne asada and it was one of the worst prepared meals I have had at a fine dining establishment. The carne was cooked as one piece of meat, I asked for a steak knife and was told that it was cooked to be soft. Meat, veggies, rice and beans had no seasoning or whatsoever. Meat had a faint taste of the oil it had been cooked in. Service was below average, very little attention to us as a party and we waited long stretches for cocktails that we ordered. I have been here a couple of times before and loved this place, this time makes me reconsider ever coming back.

The reservation was made for 7.30 pm. Our table was not available until 25 minutes later!
We were given a table at the back of the restaurant where a private party (around 30/35 people) was taking place.The noise was unbeareable! We could not hear each other, inpossible to have a conversation.We complained and we were given a table at the main room.
The food was good and the service excellent.Avoid the desserts, are not worth the price.
The called flan, was no more than a pudding with a lot of flour, not a flan nor a crème brulee.
The tres leches cake industrial made.

The food and the service are just on point, I wish I live close to the area but time is so worth it the drive. Ask for Jesus, he took care of us and his service was just amazing.

Food and service was outstanding. Didn’t really like the portion sizes especially since the cost per meal was a bit high and food was awesome, but that doesn’t take away from the excellent taste of the meal. We had the mole and lamb chops. Both were outstanding and we highly recommend the mole if you get a chance to go there for dinner. We are definitely going back soon.

The guac was perfectly seasoned and they have the best chips! We both had the tenderloin enchiladas and they were delicious. The drinks were good and we were even brought a little sample shot, which was very nice. The staff is attentive and my friend said she will definitely bring her husband back again. This was my 5th or 6th time and it's always great!

The food is absolutely fantastic. We had flank steak and a mixed seafood dish and both were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend the mole appetizer as well.

Met a friend for drinks and it blossomed into a two course meal that was astounding. Food and drinks were excellent, I recommend the smokey margarita, it's made with mezcal..delish.

Food was outstanding, as was service. We had the ceviche which was great. I had the Mole, I ate the whole thing. Wife had the braised pork, remarkable flavors. The ginger Mule cocktail was good and the margaritas are fantastic. I think it's the best restaurant in Bishop Arts district. Photo is of the Mole.

A hidden gem in Dallas Some friends recommended it to us and they were on. Small menu but all perfectly prepared, great service and drinks. Chef came out to check on us. It is a 5 Star
