The hostess is the most charming young woman who always goes out of her way to please her customers. I was with friends who are difficult patrons and who are overly critical of inconsequential things, but the hostess, who was also the waitress and appeared to be the bartender as well, never lost her composure and went overboard in trying to please them.
Our waitress was absolutely wonderful, probably the best wait staff I’be experienced in a long time. She did her very best to accommodate us in every way. My only complaint was the quality of the steak. The flavor was great, but my piece had too much fat and was a little tough. My friend said her drink was delicious and when she told the waitress that her French fries were over cooked she returned with some that were cooked to perfection.
The overall dining experience was great. We had the dine LA special menu plus order their meat flight specialty. The meat flight was great. The Dine LA menu had a great selections, however they did run out of the dessert and the braised short rib was a bit salty. The cocktails were weak, barely tasted the tequila in our margaritas. The server(s) was very attentive and very accommodating.
Not sure if all the staff decided to leave and walk out and quit recently, but the server greeted us promptly and nicely saying Welcome, I'm so and so.. let me start off with the items we're out of tonight. The restaurant was empty.. we were a party of 9. There was a sign saying their best seller was Ribs. They were out of ribs, bread and chardonnay. A bunch of items on the menu were blacked out.... There was so bartender, so our server poured the wine... it was comical how many things they were out of. Even the women's rest room wasn't right. One out of the two stalls were out of order, trash was over flowing and smelled horribly of sewer gas! We won't be coming back.
We had the best time! I celebrated my birthday. Service was amazing and we received a free tiramisu cake. Definitely will be returning
It was pretty empty, so I was anticipating a rough Saturday night. The food was absolutely fine - everything was really tasty. I think it's because Slaters is 2 doors down and they are primarily a steak/hamburger joint, but a bit more upscale. The steak tartare was excellent and my friend and I had a great dinner without the hour wait at Slaters.
The steak, which my friend had, was excellent and I had a hamburger - really nicely done.
It was a bit sad that so much of the business was going to Slaters, but the food was well worth going there for.
Honestly, it was nice - happy to find a place with decent food that seemed to be missed by everyone :)
My husband and I tried this restaurant as part of DineLA. The DineLA menu was not as interesting as the regular menu, so we both chose the meat flight, which included large pieces of 3 types of steak--prime New York, ribeye, and filet mignon--10 ounces total. It also included a dinner salad, asparagus, and matchstick french fries, all for $36. There was a delicious olive oil chimichurri for dipping the perfectly-cooked steaks. Desiree, our server, kept our (non-alcoholic) drinks filled, and even offered to refill the ice in my sparkling water. Parking in the nearby structure was free for 90 minutes--rare in Pasadena. We will be back to try their towering burgers next time (if we can resist ordering the meat flight again)!
Good burgers and an excellent place to go if having grass-fed beef is important to you. Despite the menu saying "no substitutions," they were willing to make minor adjustments to our burgers (e.g., on a salad instead of a bun, or grilled onions instead of onion rings). Our server was excellent and personable and gives the whole restaurant a relaxed and friendly vibe it would otherwise be lacking. Pretty good people-watching if you sit near the window.
Really delicious steaks cooked to perfection. Two of our group had the Meat Flight, a selection of various steaks the restaurant offers, and it was fantastic.
Desiree our server was excellent throughout the experience. However, with only another party present in the entire restaurant at an early hour, the food took awhile to come out. The Chicken Piccata and Risotto was fair. The chicken was good but the risotto was not risotto. The baby back ribs were also just okay. The restaurant looks great but that was about it. Very mediocre for an expensive experience.
Truffle fries are a must have when you go! We tried for the first time the white and black burger.....sooooo good!
Too pricey for the amount of food! Everything a la carte is ridiculous
Excellent service. Great food. Gotta love meat, but if you do, you'll really enjoy this place!
Food was good, we brunched on Mother's day. For a restaurant that has brunch every weekend, the kitchen couldn't manage to get out food out together and I had to ask where the nutella was? Turns out it's just a ramekins full of it on the side. The place wasn't busy other than a large group winding down when we arrived. We had the filet Benedict and French toast with nutella and Marscapone. Waitress wasn't familiar with the brunch menu, and couldn't make up for lousy service with her smile. I would consider trying it again for lunch or dinner, but it's won't be anytime soon
The steak was eceptionally good.
Fantastic place to eat. Clever design and delicious food. Meat platter was absolutely succulent and the service was perfect. Will definitely return again!
The restaurant was not busy which seemed strange. The decor is fun and it is a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent. Steak was delicious, as good or better than some fancy steakhouses. Definitely a good place and we would eat there again.
Too many other good places to come back to this one. Sorry. Very disappointed in the quality of the food
Food was amazing! Service was exceptional. Unfortunately the meat was not cooked to ask. We asked for Medium done and had to send back TWICE. And still NEVER got it right.
Almost everything was disappointing. Noise level was too noisy, aided by a noisy birthday group of 20 or more. Service suffered because of the birthday group. Salads came with the meal, rather than as a starter (and salads are listed as starters). Wine list was mediocre. Not worth the cost.
Did not even have their signature dishes! No one apologized to us. Ordered Risotto and it was not fully cooked. The price point does not match food quality or service. This place charges up scale prices, but does not deliver the value. Our server kept referring to cooks as chefs. They neither acted or cooked like chefs. We left and made reservations to another restaurant across the street! As an aside, this restaurant also ran out of the house wine.
It was rather empty when we arrived, but we were okay with it. Menu was limited as far as appetizers go, especially for time.
Services was great. Food was good.
I had very high hopes for this restaurant when my parent's suggested it for my boyfriend's birthday. We were greeted immediately and were seated promptly. We received water as soon as we sat down so I was glad that the service would probably be great at this restaurant, boy was I wrong. It took them over 20 minutes to take our order down and then even longer for them to just bring out the risotto, the only appetizer we ordered. Not only did my order and my order come out 10 minutes before my parents got theirs, but the steak I ordered was clearly medium well and not medium as requested. When I showed this to the waitress, she immediately apologized and offered to bring me another one. She asked me if i wanted her to take the overdone meat and I told her no, because my mother prefers her meat cooked that way anso I would just give it to her. Thank goodness I kept it because not only did it take another 15 minutes to receive the new steaks, it was given to me RARE and was ALL FAT. I have a feeling the cooks were upset with me for complaining that they don't know how to properly cook a medium steak and so they retaliated by giving me the fattiest piece of meat I've ever had. I was so upset but this rude and disgusting gesture that I didn't even bother trying it. Not only will I never go back to this place because of the rudeness from the chefs that I received, they clearly don't know how to cook a steak to specifications and then take it out on the customer when they get called out. Not to mention how long it took for us to get our food, and we didn't even get it at the same time. I also ordered a mac n cheese that never came. When I reminded the waitress of this she asked me if I wanted to still wait for it even though we were done with our meal. Are you kidding me? No we're done. You should have brought with the other stuff and now you're acting like like I'm rude if I don't wait for it. NEVER AGAIN. Avoid this place and go to Bourbon Steak if you want a decent meal
Excellent preparation of steak. Flavorful and tender. Crispy string fries. Best part of the lamb chop entree was the artistic presentation and the taste of the vegetables. Flourless chocolate dessert was decadent. Service was good. Attentive refills of our tea and coffee. We made reservations for 6:45 pm on a Saturday for a birthday celebration. A nice touch was to see a Happy Birthday board on the table reserved for us.
I love this place - charming with good food. The staff is very friendly and the service is incredible.
Food was good, the service, unfortunately, was only adequate ; my main course (short rib) arrived yet my friend's steak didn't arrived until almost 15 minutes later. By then my food was getting cold and the restaurant wasn't that busy. The waitress apologized throughout but they should've just hold the food and served us both at the same time.
Went here for the first time on Valentine’s Day - my husband and I were given a fixed menu on the table and a wine list. We were looking forward to a Filet but it wasn’t on the fixed menu so we chose other options. As we were dining, we noticed other people were being given the standard menu upon request. I was disappointed to say the least. We ended up spending over $150 on dinner and we didn’t even get what we went there for and we were not given the option. Food was ok not great. Wouldn’t go back again.
The food was perfect. The staff was very professional yet friendly. Will definitely go back!
Great food, clean and comfortable. A fun spot a short walk from the Metro Memorial Park Station.
My lamb chops came out looking too raw, all red, with only one side seared (they must've forgot the other side), but other that this, everything was excellent. I would come here again.
We did the DineLA dinner and the restaurant had some timing issues we were in the restaurant for about 1:45 minutes. The food was tasty and the portions were good. The only issue was that they forgot the fries as the side to the ribeye.
We picked this place for the Yelp reviews we were there on a Sunday around 530 PM it was us and 2 other tables. The service could have been more attentive and engaging. We returned a couple items they were cold and my family member was being fussy.
The meat was overcooked. The sauce was not very good. Overall I was disappointed because I wanted to love this restaurant. The ambience is great.
Food was poorly prepared. The kitchen staff was not prepared. They missed several items, and one person didn’t even get a meal - after waiting for it and asking twice, it was never brought. Our server tried her best, but overall not worth going back.
It was a wonderful meal! Our server was able to answer all of our questions and give great recommendations. The service was a little bit slower than I’m used to at other restaurants but the atmosphere and quality of the food made up for it. I will definitely be coming back again.
The menu has changed since my last visit. The quantity of the food is small to the price I paid. The steak dish I ordered was cold. Time to wait for food was too long
Loved our meal at the meat district food was absolutely wonderful staff we attentive. It’s a great place with wonderful food
Service was extremely slow on a night with 1/2 full restaurant. There seemed to be a problem in the kitchen as orders to all tables came out slow. When I did receive my order, my starter arrived with my room temp ribeye. After asking twice, my fries came 5” later. Very disappointing.@
I made the reservation for 6:30 but was contacted to change it to 7, because they had another large party (we were a party of 8). Because we had young children, I didn’t want to push it too late so we agreed on 6:45. We were seated immediately. We ordered and after an hour, we were brought an appetizer of potatoes compliments of the chef. It was another half hour before we finally got our food. Meanwhile, tables of people who came in after us had been served. The starter salad was brought out at the same time as the main meal (on a dish that did not come with a salad, as some do where it is part of the plate). Two of the meat hooks that were ordered were cold. They brought out new meats for us. The steaks we ordered and replacement meat hooks were cooked perfectly and delicious. The truffle fries were delectable. The service was very friendly and attempted to correct for the problems with the very long wait for food, which was appreciated. Overall, it’s a nice atmosphere (except when they would leave the door open and it was very cold) with a lovely presentation of the food. If their service can be sped up to get food out in a timely manner, it would be a great experience.
