Maxwell's Central Park
Service terrible, guy had never worked in a restaurant before, drinks took 15 minutes to be told they had ran out, food slow as well. Shame it used to be a great place for brunch and drink, going down hill.
Solid bet for brunch now that they've introduced unlimited
This place is always great. The food is great and they have bottomless brunch. Service is awesome.
Cute little neighborhood place...good pub food and drinks...will return when in the neighborhood
Good spot for get-togethers
Very delicious food. Quiet and cozy atmosphere.
Their Open Table UI interface was down, so they couldn’t check us in, but they still had a table for us.
Terrible service. 15 minutes to get 1 mimosa. Our food order got "lost in the system", the waitress didn't even realize that nobody had received the food and after 2 HOURS we had to inquire for it, and we were informed that our order had "disappeared". Total waiting time for the food 2 hours and 30 minutes, and one of the plates was not what was ordered and we had to send it back. Very unfortunate. We had been there before, therefore we will give the place one more chance, but we were very disappointed
The reservation process was easy but when we arrived, our requested high chair was not set up yet which was a little disappointing. When a staff member brought one over, the buckle was broken (defeating the entire purpose of having my toddler in a high chair) so he had to bring over another one instead. Once we were seated, I could tell the noise level and ambiance were fine (early on a Saturday evening in the summer). A server took our drink orders promptly. My partner was given a beer that was not ordered, but the can was already opened so it couldn't be simply exchanged. They apparently didn't have the one he ordered in stock but they didn't come by to ask if there was an alternate from the list. When the server came back to take our meal orders, I asked if we could get the order in for my child, but the server didn't quite seem to understand that I wanted that to go in before the adults ordered; that way, my child would have the food faster. It also was not made clear that I could actually order a children's meal, since there was no children's menu listed. Anyway we ordered and all of the food came out - it was all delicious (we collectively ordered a variety of options and everyone was pleased with their choices - the presentation, the taste). Overall we were all pleased with the service and food, and would go back in the future to try it again.
Very poor experience
Went to Maxwell’s for Sunday brunch. The menu has very few items that did not include eggs. There wre only 2 wait staff. I order chicken and waffles. There was a long wait and the food arrived cold.
Went to Maxwell's for brunch on Sunday. Made a reservation in advance, and the place was half empty, but they sat us right next to the bathroom anyway. Food was fine, but unmemorable. Had more of a sports bar feel than a nice brunch spot.
Our server was lovely, what a great spot!
Not terrible, but nothing special. Service was quite slow, but nice when we got it. Clearly understaffed. The place is family friendly which I think is its main appeal. Food was not bad but nothing to write home about, and overpriced for the portion size. Strangely the children's meal that we ordered was larger than the 2 adult sized portions we got, so we ended up eating more of our child's chicken fingers than anything else.
The walk thru Central Park with Maxwell's the destination was enchanting. The ambiance was lovely, comfortable and inviting . The service was slow and robotic. The food was atrocious!
Consistently delicious. My 5th time here. Massive portions. Beef nachos and fish tacos are my go to and I highly recommend.
Enjoyable neighborhood place with excellent brunch. Service was very good...people friendly and accommodating. If I head back to this neighborhood again I would definitely come back.
Food was excellent!
I had the eggs Benedict with the English muffin. Would definitely recommend!
Good service however food was hit or miss. The fish special was good however veggie burger dry and crumbly and flavorless. Fish tacos delicious but was very busy with toppings which looked unappetizing. Too much red cabbage and red onions. A simple slaw with aioli would have been much better.
The best thing about this place is the vibe and atmosphere - it was busy when we visited on a Saturday early evening and it was noisy but not so loud you can't hear yourself talk. Our server was also very personable and accommodating. The food however left a lot to be desired and the cocktails/specialty drinks were all off for one reason or another (the mojito was too fizzy, the sangria might as well have been a glass of regular red wine). Nice place to visit in summer for the ambiance when they have outdoor seating but definitely wouldn't recommend coming for the food.
The value of the food was good but the quality was less than expected!
My boyfriend and I made a reservation for Valentines Day at 7:45PM. When we got there at 7:40PM, it seemed that our table was already given away. However, the Matradee apologized, found us a table at the bar, personally got our dinner table ready, made sure we were comfortable and gave us a drink on the house. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and you could tell everyone was working really hard to make sure the customers had a great night. I will definitely be recommending Maxwell's to all my friends, and I will be back again soon. My new favorite place!
Very nice server, as always. Relaxed, friendly place.
Always a good spot
The waiter was not attentive. And the cocktails were not good.
Went for brunch with my friend. Loved the ambiance, the service was amazing, and the food was fantastic. Definitely be back!
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Holiday decorations are a plus.
Maxwells has a very diverse menu so there is something for everyone. Our server was so accommodating and we all loved what we ordered. This was our last meal in the city before heading to the airport so a great place to cap off our visit.
We had a reservation for 5. The restaurant was very crowded but we did get our table, although it was late. The food was over cooked and bland, and that is unusual with four different meals ordered. The service was incredibly slow. Our drinks were ordered at the same time but only one came within 10 minutes. The others had to be requested again and came 20 minutes after originally being ordered. In the middle of our meal, there was inexplicably a large buffet set up next to our table with many people coming and going. I will not return.
Great place overall
Food took forever and when it arrived both entrees were cold. Bloody Marys were watery, we assumed this was to offset the Bloody Mary special prices for brunch and them figuring adding very little vodka would go unnoticed.
Would not go back.
Beers seemed watered down / taste less. Server want attentive. Food came very late
Server was amazing, loved the ambience and decor, but wasn’t very impressed with my chicken cob , it was mediocre. I enjoyed it overall and will come back to give a chance to other plates on the menu.
Nice, friendly location even for first timers. We were there at happy hour and they had some good deals on apps and drinks.
The menu is varied and everything we ordered was well received by the people in my party. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and he seemed over extended. Maybe they need more help but that did not distract from a nice dinner.
Service was not very good. Had to wait a long time for anything and everything. Asked upfront for separate bills, then had to wait a long time later for that - telling us that it would be time consuming, even though brunch at $18.50 was the only item on the menu and we all had the same thing.
Would not recommend for large groups. Happy Hour with tasting menu and drink specials would probably be a better time to come.
Good place to meet friends for drinks and eats. Nice ambiance and staff.
Our first time! Food was incredible..service was solid...adults and kid enjoyed meals thoroughly. Space is lovely and location was perfect for a post meal stroll thru Central Park by the Harlem Meer.
THEY SHOULD MARKET THEIR REAL ADRESS BETTER
RESTAURANT WAS A MILE AWAY FROM OUR PART OF CENTRAL PARK!!!
I made reservations and when we arrived we were seated by the waiter. He ignored the fact I told him about my reservation / didn’t even aknowledge it. Sat at the table and had to ask for utensils which were given with chunks of food still on them and still had to ask for a spoon, when water was served had lip marks (lipstick) still from the previous user/ customer. Finally placed the order and when it arrived it was warm, not even Hot. The chicken and waffles wasn’t like other places, waffle was tough and tasted like frozen waffles, chicken were pieces of fatty chicken breast. With a sauce on top that could’ve been left out. The other order that was served, was warm n not Hot as well. The toast was extremely Hard. When asked for another order of toast it was brought back like it was taken out of the bread bag. And wasn’t even toasted. The fruit salad was watered down and was old not fresh at all. To look for the waitress or waiter there to inform them is a hassle. They don’t ask you how things are during the meal etc. Only when you had to call them to remove your plate n ask for the check.
It should be more attentive. It was early too and not packed at all. It seemed to be a usual thing there I assume lack of attention and service at the table because other customers were also getting up and getting stuff from other unoccupied tables and occupied. They also seemed frustrated and disappointed.
Even though I can’t stand sports bars and those distracting jumbo screens...I love this place. Maxwell’s has multiple TV screens, so when it’s some big game night, forget it. But on those days, their To-Go menu is fab.
That Greek goddess salad is genius. The staff is fabulous. Their kitchen cares about making great plates. The cocktails have a creative flair. Love it.
