Great food and service. Very accommodating. Recommend highly
This was our first time trying the brunch and it was really good and our server was awesome
Enjoyed the meal, and appreciated the service even more. Staff made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you!
Excellent pizza. Decent service. Deafeningly loud on a Friday night.
Great atmosphere excellent service and great food. We be back.
Normally a reliable option, Matchbox was completely overwhelmed on Mother’s Day. One entree showed up an hour after we sat down. They were very gracious and took the entree off the bill and offered free desserts.
Great restaurant for a celebration dinner, good variety of menu options
Many people were waiting for tables at Matchbox when we arrived, but we were seated immediately with our OpenTable reservation. Favs - sliders (and the delicious onion strings on top!), margarita pizza was perfect, and all pairs so well with their tasty beers (tons to choose from). Don't forget to get an actual matchbox when you leave!
I had an amazing tuna tartare and gluten free pesto pizza. Both very tasty. Highly recommend it.
Amazing. First time doing an all u can eat brunch!! My wife and I loved it. An amazing Mother’s Day experience
We enjoyed the Mother’s Day brunch. Servers are very friendly and helpful.
Came in for dinner with a short notice reservation. I arrived a bit early for our reservation time, expecting to wait a little but the hosts got us sat immediately. Chase was our server and he was very attentive, nice, and funny. Would come back for him for sure. We got an appetizer that came very quickly along with a cheese pizza. It was great, food was hot and all the presets were there so we could dig in! Very happy with the whole experience!
It was our first time at Matchbox, and we were very pleased. The food and service were excellent. It was a little loud, so if you are looking for a quiet, intimate dinner, maybe go on a week night instead of a weekend.
Matchbox used to be good, but the last time we went, our waiter was not good (he took our order, but that was about it) and the food was less than stellar. The waiter “forgot” about our table; ended up having a manager deliver our meals. Our steaks were cool to the touch and over cooked, the pears on my salad were brown, and our cheese-only pizza was spicy.
We've eaten at Matchbox many times. The food is generally good. We had a slightly larger group which included four kids for an early dinner this past Saturday. We had reservations and got seated immediately, even with half our group missing, which was great! Initially, things started out well, we got our drinks and appetizers quickly. But the service went downhill from there. Our waiter never once came back to check for refills or additional drinks, one meal came back incorrect and we had to flag down other waiters several times just to get anything. Other meals were fine, although what was called a "side salad" was anything but. It could have easily been a meal on it's own. Not typical from our usual experience there, but frustrating.
Noise level a bit high but otherwise great service
Consistent food quality
Poor service, food was terrible and the noise level was outrageous for a Tuesday.
Sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful happy hour menu.
Service was off and on. Even though I ordered an item off the happy hour menu well before the end of happy hour, I was charged full price. Not once but twice.
It was corrected but should've been correct in the first place.
We really like going to Matchbox before a movie and have never had any issues with service, except this last time. Restaurant wasn't very busy, but we ended up waiting for a while to order. Appetizer came quickly - yay! Main meals took forever - which is not like Matchbox. It was almost 35 minutes after the one 1 appetizer came out before our main meal. Anyway... it was fine, just the attention of the server and the service was a little off this evening.
Matchbox would seem to have everything going for it--location, setting, menu but it unfortunately falls short in the food part, arguably the most important aspect of a restaurant. The offerings were overcooked (though ironically arriving only warm) and uninspired. For a restaurant charging $14 for a personal pizza and over $20 for most entrees, more care and effort towards the production of these items is needed. The staff was very attentive and hardworking, and when I brought my concerns up to the manager they were addressed adequately but in a hypercompetitive business, Matchbox has work to do.
We did the brunch. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. For what we paid and what we got, because it took forever, it was a total rip off. It was my sons birthday and they stuck us in a booth next to the kitchen which was super loud and obviously we had a reservation. Server was nice enough and all, but if the Kitchen is overwhelmed there isn’t anything you can do.
Brunch was fantastic! Endless brunch for $31.00... order as many plates as you'd like. Shrimp and grits and cast iron cinnamon rolls were fantastic!
We went for the brunch box on a Sunday morning around 10. I believe it was around 32 per person which seemed a bit pricey but was definitely worth it! The food was amazing and they were quick to take orders and bring it out when we were ready. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the chilaquiles and any of the French toast options. Also, of course, their delicious pizza.
Great food, especially the appetizers. Definitely make a reservation now that warm weather is here.
The food and service was great but the noise level was excessive especially when the DJ came in at 10pm. It’s a restaurant, not a club.
Do not sit at a table in the backroom. The waitstaff disappears as soon as they drop the food and its almost impossible to get anyone's attention. This has happened twice to us. This time we specifically requested not to sit in the back when we made the reservation. I had asked for my dish without hot peppers, not only was it not prepared the way I asked, but it took 10 minutes to get the waiter to come over before waiting another 10 minutes to have the dish remade.
One other note, the fire alarm went off and the waitstaff told everyone to remain seated that it was a false alarm. We were finished so we left only to find that every other business that shared the building had evacuated and fire trucks were pulling up.
Pretty good food is being overshadowed by poor overall service
Always a solid option
Excellent food and service in a great location. Will return many times.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We look forward to having you back.
We were placed in a back room which seemed like a room specifically for people with children. It felt like a sauna the heat was up so high. Was sweating the entire time.
Food is always awesome! If you have kids, this is the place to go.
We enjoyed the food, but found the service rushed and over attentive. Your young children were given multiple soda refills without the server even asking the parents if it was OK. The restaurant is very noisy making it difficult to hear each other in conversation.
Brunch was delicious- we ordered the unlimited small plates and really enjoyed the variety. The breakfast sandwich was my favorite!
Really good food...professional and friendly service...quite enough for old friends to catch-up...booth seating needs additional padding
Quality of the food and portion sizes seem significantly worse/smaller than our last visit.
Matchbox is our favorite mid-priced restaurant in Washington. It NEVER disappoints.
It was very good!!
We were seated right away and our server was friendly and helpful.
The food was tasty and warm.
Service wasn’t that great overall. It started out good but when we wanted to leave, our waitress was nowhere to be found and we needed to pay the check.
Everything else was good.
Loved the “kids dough” for our 2yr old! Amazing!! Thank you! Food was awesome and great service!
Service was very slow and the waiter was invisible to us. Our appetizer and main meal was served five minutes apart after a thirty minute wait.
Overall the food was good
