Marcello's Ristorante of Suffern
Marcello's offers small plates and large plates as well as hand-crafted cocktails, delicious Italian wines, Italian craft beers, home-made desserts, cooking classes and private chef dinners and live music on Thursdays from 7:30-9:30pm!
we had a large group affair. Marcello himself guided me through my different options. We settled on a family style meal OF HIS CHOOSING. He and his team did a WONDERFUL job. Thank you Marcello!!!
Wonderful restaurant
Great staff
Great food
Great atmosphere
As Tina Turner would say SIMPLY THE BEST!!
Service was impeccable.
Lloyd was kind, polite, and very accommodating.
Service was excellent.
Food was not bad, but not great either.
A bit pricey~
We will return, as we never judge a restaurant on a one time visit.
The service alone, warrants a return visit~
Excellent service. Food was solid, not stellar, but certainly worth the trip. A little pricy at $200 for three people (no wine, one drink per person, two appetizers and coffee).
Every dish was more delicious than the previous one!
Wonderful first time experience.
Will definitely eat there again!
Great casual dining, great wine selection and upscale service.
Excellent as always. Food and service fabulous. Our go to place for dinner when we are in the Suffern area. Wish I lived closer!
Food was superb The appetizer of clams casino done perfectly the main dishes of short ribs and lobster ravioli were prepared well and delicious.
The downfall was the service. It was slow and spotty at best
Marcello's is our favorite restaurant! We especially like it for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions as well as ordinary days. The food was excellent as always, however my husband, who's birthday we were celebrating was not happy with his. We will still go back!!!
Great restaurant!
Marcello is the best!!
Delicious food!
I recommend you ask to purchase some of his sauce and pasta!!
Very noisy. Music was loud. Music did not seem appropriate for the ambiance of the restaurant. Food was good staff were polite. I wasn’t expecting loud music but other customers did not seem to mind.
We haven't been to Marchello's in a number of years since they changed their menu and decor. We really enjoyed their menu which basically allowed you to have either a large or small plate of virtually any item on the menu allowing people to share 3 different"small" dishes instead of getting 2"large" plates. As always the food was terrific. We had the eggplant appetizer, hand made raviolini and sauteed shrimp. All were great. The sauce and combination used in the shrimp dish was just terrific. The portion sizes, both small and large, were perfect. All in all, a very enjoyable place for a high quality dinner. We will be back sooner versus later.
Marcello’s is another one of those sleeper restaurants that is still doing it better than almost everyone else but doesn’t get the acclaim it deserves because it’s been around for so long, it’s off the beaten path, and the trendoid crowds have long since moved on to the next new IT place.
I hesitate recommending Marcello’s solely out of selfishness so as to keep it to myself.
Very friendly staff the waiter were excellent the cook came out to greet the people.
The band they had hip replacements music was fantastic.. would definitely go there again
The best restaurant in ROCKLAND by far
Received a high zagat rating although the food was only okay. Service was borderline good and annoying. Parking is a pain (street parking).
Excellent. Great meal, from appetizers to dessert.
Convenient place to meet if coming from different directions.
Restaurant itself is decent but nothing special.
Tables too close together and provate conversation difficult.
Marcello's was excellent. From the friendly greeting at the door, to the great table, great food and dessert you cannot go wrong at this restaurant. Marcello has been doing this for a long time and it shows.
Have eaten in Marcello's before, and it was good. This time menu did not represent the restaurant , and choices were very mediocre.
The service was fabulous and the food even better. A great restaurant- started with the goat cheese salad, it was even better than I had imagined and the crispy fried goat cheese ball was delicious. Decided on the salmon for my entree and was very pleased with it but was blown away by the dessert- a quad of small servings that included berries in a raspberry sauce, tiramisu, vanilla bean custard and chocolate gelato... We chose this restaurant because we had heard great things about it and it was Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. It was everything we had hoped for!
Outstanding service. Food is always great.
Went because of restaurant week. Greeting was friendly, waiter very stiff maybe to professional not personable. We both ordered grouper which was very dry, salad was good. Our only option for dessert was chef choice. Nice variety late except 2 items were Chocolate which I don't eat. Not worth the trip.
We went for the restaurant week menu...A very pleasant experience, we will return.
My son really enjoys the food at Marcello's. He usually order the pork entree. How he finishes the entire amount is beyond me. Anyway, he recently announced his engagement to Danielle, and my wife and I wanted to do something special for the couple so we choose Marcello's for dinner.
Great meal. Prices are high but well worth it!
Wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
We have been going here for over 20 years but hadn't been back for over 10 yrs--the inside of the restaurant has expanded but the same wonderful atmosphere and food is still the same along with the great service!! We hope to return sooner than 10 yrs!!
Food was fine. We were using a Groupon and the waiter did not offer us the more expensive specials which we overheard him telling the next table.
When the plates were cleared the bus girl just stacked them right on the table. Not very elegant.
A notably superior restaurant in a county where there are unfortunately few.
Had a great time! Had wanted to go to Marcello's for years...the food was great and we lingered at the table afterwards and were not kicked out. Nice wine list as well.
the Jazz group was great to have with dinner.
Best Italian restaurant in Rockland County, bar none.
Enjoyable dinner for four. Food and service were very good. I will return.
Excellent food, great service. This is a General note for ALL RESTAURANTS. Wines where told to be drank room temperature.True back in the years when rooms were at 5 to 10 degrees lower. That without talking about all the electrical appliances that blow eat in those rooms where wines are kept. Blowout all the flavors and subtile fragrances of great red wines by chilling them just a wink. Not cold, just ok (between 51.8 F for fruitfull/soft and light and gradually all the way up to 68F for bold/complex older wines). And the more complex the wine is, the more it needs to breed too.Thats the temperature they should be drank at.So why don't everybody keep them at 50F AND THAN let them breed
overall good...entrees could have been hotter
I come here regularly so was quite surprised by the indifferent service we received.
My entree was put down in a rather careless way. It was my daughter's birthday and I indicated that on my Open Table reservation. Not even a "Happy Birthday." The owner was at his other restaurant and I think that made a difference.
Service was excellent, food was served hot and presentation very appealing
Without a doubt the best restaurant in Suffern and in the top 10 in Rockland County
Marcellus has been at the top of the food scene in Rockland for over twenty years, and for good reason. He can't seem to serve anything that is less than absolutely delicious. His cosmetic make over of the restaurant transformed it into a lovely club like setting However, all of this does not come cheap and a tab of $130 per couple for Rockland County is outrageous. Granted, our dining. O panino ordered two drinks and three of us had one, but still, one does not expect to pay that in Suffern! Also, there is a tiny feeling of elitism in that regulars are given much warmer treatment than an unrecognized face, and again, at these prices, a little more warmth for the strangers would be nice.
