I love this spot already, good food and service is the standard. This time we were seated quickly and right by the window which was awesome! Jay set us up for success and our server was fantastic! The food was quick and delicious as always. Ma’ono rocks!

My team took our factory partners out while they were in town, and Ma’ono not only was able to accommodate 11 people easily, but the service for such a large group was on point as well. Lots of chicken and whiskey was had, and everyone had an awesome time!

We are regulars here, but will not be regulars anymore. While we love the people there and the service is good, the quality of the food has gone down significantly. First, they changed the fries they serve there to a cheaper, fast-food kind of fries. Next, they have changed their hot sauce used with the chicken and on every table to more of a pepper sauce. They’ve eliminated the quarter-bird and it seems as though the quality of the chicken that they use has also gone down. Wish this was different, but it’s just not the case.

I have a hard time eating at Ma'Ono in a way that does not happen at any other restaurant. I have a fairly severe gluten intolerance, and there is very little offered that is not loaded with it. You can order gluten-free fried chicken 24 hours ahead, but in general I like to eat healthy proteins and vegetables not friend in breading. I don't enjoy a lot of grains. Everything is soaked in soy and bread and rice. The kalua pork was dry, and mostly rice. I asked to leave off the macaroni salad, but the server said it would be separate, so someone else could eat it-- but it was not separate at all. My spouse had the hamburger, which was literally smothered in velveeta. The restaurant had us out the door in under 45 minutes, and it felt very rushed. Even the wine pours were small. For an award-winning restaurant, Ma'ono really disappoints.

Had been a couple years since our last brunch at Ma’ono Fried Chicken and Whiskey.
Unfortunately it’s changed.
Our Fried Chicken was visibly undercooked inside, basically burnt outside and really just flavorless.
The sautéed Bok Choy was a pleasant surprise,
but the real surprise came with the bill.
Instead of being charged $32 per whole chicken as listed in our Open Table reservation confirmation email, we were charged $44.
They did end up honoring the price listed in the email, but it sure did seem like the old bait and switch by their initial reaction...

Lively atmosphere with an interesting menu. Service was very good. It was pretty noisy but noticed was slightly more quiet on West side of the room. Overall, four of us had a nice experience on a busy restaurant week night.

We love this restaurant however we went with another couple and we all ordered chicken sandwiches of different hotness levels. I ordered a mild and was given the hot, not a fun discovery. My partner who ordered the hot was given the mild. That was a tough discovery so I think they should label the plates somehow so that a mild order doesn’t get a hot. 🥵

We went for a birthday brunch. The service was excellent and the fried chicken was definitely a highlight. They held 2 birds based on our table size, and we realized later we only needed 1.5 birds. (Half birds are pro-rated.) It was fine though - made for good leftovers. The Mac and Kim cheese was mild, the fried rice was excellent as well.

Delightful and delicious! Not our first meal at Ma’Ono but usually we go for Brunch. Dinner did not disappoint. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Kalua Pig Tacos are new favorites as are the whiskey cocktails. Yum!

Every single thing we ate was incredible. The seasonal corn and the tomato salad stood out in particular. The staff works as a well coordinated team, and in spite of the extremely high level of service, the meal was very reasonably priced!

Food was good but service was lacking. Server was aloof and seemed in a hurry to get us out of there. He took plates without asking if we were finished eating. I had several ears of corn to take home and he brought a box to the table, then dumped the corn in without any of the sauce (the best part!). It wasn’t even close to closing and there were plenty of open tables so we had no idea what his rush was. He wasn’t overtly rude but he wasn’t friendly by any means. I know some of my companions were annoying (they asked a lot of questions about the menu due to their dietary restrictions), but if you’re in the service industry you should expect to deal with difficult customers but prepared to handle them with more patience and grace. I love Ma’ono and would come back, but I wouldn’t want the same server.

My party of 4 were disappointed with the meal - we’re salt lovers when it comes to flavoring our food but the fried chicken and ramen were way too heavy on the salt. The chicken also seemed over fried and dry. We also ordered side dishes of fried rice and french fries. The fried rice portion was hilarious when it was brought to the table and the fries were very crispy and tasty but were sized like stubby cigarette buds! For the portion sizes I felt it was very overpriced. We were all in agreement that the meal in regards to flavor and price would not make any of us return customers. A very underwhelming meal:(

The Brunch menu has only a few items that are not regularly available, so don't worry about making it out for Brunch. And make sure you actually get something with the fries chicken. While others things are fine, they aren't as good as the chicken items.

My husband and I had a great time at Ma’ono - I would call it a West Seattle gem. We ordered the dark meat fried chicken, a mild fried chicken sandwich (which still had kick to it and good flavor), fries, and the Okra. That was too much food for 2 but I wouldn’t have gotten rid of anything. I wish there were half orders of sides so we could try more.

Excellent whiskey selection, and my go-to beer on tap Bodhi. I would have liked to order drinks before food instead of all together, but that’s just my personal preference.

The total for 3 beers, 1 whiskey and the food mentioned was around $70 which is as expected for the quality and amount of food we received.

Can’t wait to come back and try more!

Outstanding food and drinks. Perfect spot to take our friends as 1 hates seafood and the other lives Japanese cuisine. Percy option. And they had a fried chicken for us also this time. So crispy and delicious. Still crispy after 2 days in the fridge even. Our server was great. Pretty loud place as it seemed they had the music up a few too many decibels but it wasn't terrible.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food is tasty and fresh. We go here anytime we are in Seattle. I would highly recommend the poke bowls, sweet potatoes, and (obviously) fried chicken.
