Maguire's - North Dallas
We ordered the evening special, lemon cod. The fish can only be described as mushy and tasteless.
Was able to accommodate us as one of us was running late. Great specials and food and was easy to have a conversation.
Lunch was very good and so was our server
My son took me to lunch for my birthday today. The restaurant was busy, but the service and food were excellent as usual. I was celebrating my birthday and when we ordered dessert, they decorated the plate with chocolate lettering. It was the most beautiful presentation!! Our server was kind, helpful and made it feel like a very special occasion. My son had the Santorini sandwich, open face chicken gyros. Best meal he’s ever had here. The Thai beef steak salad continued to be my favorite :-) we’ll be back!! Appreciate the birthday email promo too! Did I mention the apricot ice tea is terrific?! One of our favorite local locations!
MaGuire’s is a great restaurant for either lunch or dinner with excellent food and service. Mark has done a great job in offering consistent food and service for many, many years that very few restaurants in Dallas offer
Great food and service makes up for the outdated bathroom. But you d9nt go to a place like this for the bathroom.
We ate there New Year's Eve. We expected a crowd and reduced expectations. Our table was ready about 10 minutes before our reservation. Our waiter was prompt, attentive, and knew all about the menu, including ingredients and methods of food preparation. The wait for our food was not excessive, as we had thought, considering the crowd. The entrees were delivered to the table hot, as if fresh off the grill. The dishes were very tasteful, especially the vegetables, which in general often do not receive much attentions by chefs. The biggest surprise was how smoothly everything went for a NYE dinner. All in all, it was a pleasant dinner and we will return.
We have been to Maguire's many times, and we have never had a bad meal. This time was no exception. I chose something that I had never ordered before (I was a little worried about trying something out of the ordinary) and it was excellent. We had 8 people in our party and all of them raved about the food.
We are very frequent diners at Maguire's, and it has always been a favorite. However, the food on New Year's Eve was a total disappointment. We were aware of the abbreviated holiday menu, and that was not a problem. We ordered the mahi-mahi and a rib eye steak. Both have always been very good. On this occasion, the fish did not taste fresh, and the steak was both tough and fatty. The preparation of the dishes was consistent with our past experiences, but the quality of both main dishes left much to be desired. Despite our being on time for our reservation, we did have a slight delay in waiting for a table to clear, and that was understandable on a holiday. However, there really are very few excuses for the quality of the main dishes that we were served.
Chilean Bass melted in our mouth! Tenderloin Crostini’s were excellent!
Have been to Maguire’s before and enjoyed it, not so much this time. As it was New Year’s Eve, they had a reduced menu so decided to try the ribeye steak. It definitely wasn’t prime and doubt it was choice as it was fairly tough and they didn’t remove the silver skin. I told my wife we get better steak from the grocery store. While I cannot recommend the steak, to be fair, my wife had the pistachio crusted Mahi-mahi and it was good.
I’ve dined here many times and have never been disappointed!
Food and service was outstanding... will return in 2020
Family holiday celebration
We dined here Christmas Eve. The food and service were fabulous! My husband and I both had the blackened redfish. Excellent! The pecan salad and house dressing is great! Bought extra bottles of dressing to go home! The peppermint chocolate martini was extra good too! Service was spot on!
It was not my first visit, but this time Maguire’s moved to a new level for me. Superb food — I had the chowder, the scallops, and the apple tart. Attentive and polite service. And a very tolerable noise level. I will be back soon.
Food was great. Service was even better. Suzi is the best waitress in Dallas.
Sunday brunch is a winner. Hit for the cycle.
Always enjoy the fish there. Mani was great, shrimp and grits also tasty. The main reason I also love this place is that I can substitute any side without an up charge. Will return.
Took my staff for Christmas lunch. Maguire’s was delightful as usual. Been going there for years.
I had the Maguire's soup and salad. The roasted jalapeno soup was awesome. The salad tasted gritty like it had some sand in it, I did not care for it. Our waiter was fantastic!!!! Thank you.
Great food, excellent service. Love the decor and ambiance.
Our waitress, Susie, was wonderful. She noticed we were using a free birthday dinner coupon and since it was half-price wine night, we could not use two specials. She offered to have my birthday dinner coupon extended for 2 weeks!
The steaks were cooked to perfection! The Maguire's salad was delicious as always. Great place to eat!
Have been going to Maguire’s since they opened about 20 years ago. Go about 6-10 times a year. I have only had one bad meal there. Other than that one time, service, atmosphere are great. Best thing is the food! Really a great place. Nice that it is in a freestanding building so you are not in a shopping center.
Dined in celebration of my Mother-n-Law's 85th Birthday on Sunday (12/15). There are many choices from which to choose in Dallas, but it had been a few years since we had been to Maguire's and it was recommended as a great place for special occasions.
Our party was a table of 7, which included six adults and one high chair for our two year old grandson. Felt like when we arrived we were seated in a back corner table since we have the two year old. The service was good. Our waitress, Michelle, was great. She welcomed us, took our drink order and then informed (warned) us it was a busy night and she had another 8 top as well, in addition to another table adjacent to us. Understood since it was a Sunday evening prior to the holidays.
The issue was with the extremely slow pace and process of our food being prepared and served. We had a 6:30 reservation, we did not leave til 9:45. That may be a norm for the time frame for some, however, Michelle told us multiple times there was a problem in the kitchen, she apologized for the time it took to get our food, from appetizers to our dinner salads, and then extremely slow to get our entrees too. Then when we ordered dessert, it was also just as slow.
I understand a busy weekend night with many big parties. However, typically most big parties have advance reservations, as we did. So the management and kitchen staff also know how to plan and prepare in advance.
Once I received our bill, Michelle explained the dessert for my Mother-n-law (the Birthday girl) was complimentary. I appreciated that. However, when I left, even in thinking about our experience the next day, a comp for a birthday dessert is usually the norm, Honestly, all of our entire party should have had their desserts comped for the extremely slow service and negative memory of our special celebration.
I am not sure if I will ever dine there again, and if I do it will be a long thought processed decision based on this experience.
My dinner party of 10 people all enjoyed their time at Maguires and meals. We were seated in an area that was off to the back and somewhat private 4 our dinner party as we were celebrating something special that day so it was a perfect set-up for the group. Our waiter was awesome I regret that I don't remember his name but he was a Hispanic young guy very pleasant and was very attentive to everyone's needs and wants. The food was amazing but little on the pricey side. I had the salmon entree with fried rice which was delicious however the portion size was small for the price that was my only issue so definitely no need for doggy-bag. The ambiance was perfect for the celebratory occasion. I would definitely dying here again Inwood highly recommend 4 dinner parties and dates.
Always a beautiful experience at Maguire's. I've never had less delicious with all of their dishes.
I truly enjoyed my first visit to Maguire’s. The ambiance and food was PERFECT.
Great as usual
They were exquisite. Seated in a private booth to celebrate someone special. Thank you.
I have eaten here many times and always been highly satisfied. This event was a birthday celebration and included my family so there were 8 diners including two small children. First, we were placed at a table different than I the one I thought I had requested...I will concede that there may have been some miscommunication on that one. The table we got was in the back and very quiet, but also very dark. We joked that we couldn't see the person across from us at the same table! Next, it took a fairly long time to get our meals because there was a big Holiday Party that got in ahead of us. Finally, most everyone enjoyed their meal, but I tend to like my steak rare to medium-rare, so I ordered rare just to be safe and got a Medium steak. We will definitely go back as our other experiences have been good...probably tough to expect everything to be really good around the holidays.
Great all around
My wife and I went to Maguire’s to celebrate her birthday. As usual we had a wonderful time. Her double cut pork chop was excellent as always as was my filet mignon. Our server was extremely attentive but yet never intrusive. We Always enjoy a nice meal at Maguire’s.
Very good food at a reasonable price and the passion ice cream pie with ginger graham crust is by far the BEST dessert in dallas.
Love their meatloaf!
Mark Maguire continues to deliver a great value in quality food and service. He should teach a class.
Thank you dinner for friends
The food is consistently good but service is slow and undependable! This has been my lunch go to for over a year and was rarely disappointed but the last several months the service is terrible.., over 30 min to get a salad with salmon at 11:15 and we were the only two patrons.
Hope it’s a fluke and will improve soon!
Food was great and service was great. Unfortunately we were seated RIGHT NEXT to the love music. Which was also great, but not right next to them.
Shrimp and grits were outstanding
