Mago Grill & Cantina - Bolingbrook
👍 great ........ !!!!!!!!
Mago is hit or miss. Last time I went the food was really good this time it was so so. Food was too salty. I've have the chicken mole enchiladas before and they were way better. Must be whomever in the kitchen that night. Service was good but felt a little rushed. Not sure if I'd go back again. Expect higher quality when your paying that kind of money.
The chips and guacamole were incredible!
Really liked everything, our server not so much but that’s okay, everything else made up for it.
We sat outside and had a great table with an umbrella for ample shade. Server was great. My guest and I wanted to sit and talk for a while and server got us drinks and kept checking in. She was very nice and not pushy or made us feel we were taking up her table. Food was delish as were the drinks!
A great meal. I’m a sucker for plantains.
Drinks, server, and atmosphere (we sat outside) were great. Food is good but every time I come the food is never hot when its served to us that would be my only complaint with Mago.
Everything was excellent! The food and service were great! We will definitely come back!
I gave it a second try after a couple years , it got worse !
The food at Mago has always been good, but we usually have better service. I think we may have been seated near the end of the waitperson's shift. He only asked us about the guacamole made tableside (which was delicious), but we had to flag him down to get the ceviche. He totally skipped over asking my adult daughter for her drink order; we had to get him back for that and he never asked us about another round.
Went for my daughter's birthday and have been to the one in South Barrington many times and they are both GREAT! Our server Alfredo was really good and the steak Buritto I got, was the best I ever had! I have had many steak burittos at Chipotle, etc. This steak was melt in your mouth perfect! Bravo!
Always a great experience!
Been here several times, Nice restaurant, good food, but so far the temperature in the restaurant has been too hot each time.
Steak fajitas were great -- the steak was of good quality, unlike many other places. Guac is delicious.
Please reopen in the South Loop!
Great food and service.
Always a great place to go! Food and drinks are fresh and delicious and service is top notch!
The food was great along with the service but if your there to have a conversation with someone it's not your place to go. The place is to small to have live singers. We had a table inside right in front of them and could not hear each other at all! It might have been better if they only sang one song but they did 3 in a row. That would be the only thing I would change.
Fresh guacamole served at the table. Entrees ok. Nice desert selection. All of us agreed the menu was way overpriced for Mexican cuisine.
We enjoyed our evening and I would return. The mariachi trio was fun albeit loud. Felt the prices we high.
Had chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my friend had combo fajitas. Delicious food and great margaritas el noble. The tres leche cake was moist and good.
The food was very good. The guacamole had a little bit too much lime though. My only complaint is that the portions are extremely small for the amount of money you pay for your dish. Service was good. Would recommend this place
Everything was very good except the loud noises. I love Mariachis, but they are just too loud in that small of a restaurant. We had to literally shout at each other and even with that it was extremely difficult to hear . Made the experience unenjoyable. Won’t be back anytime soon.
service was so slow and our server was not that friendly.
Stellar service, fresh and creative food, great tableside guacamole.
Met friends for lunch. I brought my daughter who ordered off the kids’ menu. I was presently surprised at the variety and kids options. The staff was so nice and accommodating to all of us. I will definitely go there again. The strawberry margaritas are my favorite!!
Excellent food and service. Clean, comfortable environment. A little loud, but tolerable.
Love this place for lunch. We both tried something new today: enchiladas! The salsa verde enchiladas with tinga are highly recommended!
Good food. Very noisy a little expensive fir what you get. Would go back
We were there for a birthday and waited a half hour for a table even with a reservation. Sat outside and it took almost 3 hours because the service was so poor. I have never had service like that here before. It was very disappointing!
Our server Genesis was very attentive and checked in on us regurlarly.
Have eaten here several times. Worst service and food quality of any of our previous visits.
Food was great. Back room was very hot and stuffy. Service was excellent
It was a very busy Saturday night but the food and service were great as always.
Bueno. Muey bueno.
Food was mediocre at best. I was disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I’m not sure if I will give it another try.
The drinks were small but good. The only negative was that the seats were close together.
Each month our retired group try out new restaurants and this month we chose Mago. A few words regarding the booking process...received mixed messages from staff regarding seating for our group of 11. My second contact with the restaurant to revise the group numbers was told we would have the private room for no extra charge. That would have been nice, but when we arrived, we were seated in the main restaurant. Staff need to be consistent with their messages. Service was good and the guacamole was our favorite dish. Because our group was 11 and we requested separate checks, we were told they would do that this one time, but next time they would not because our group was over 6. When the final bill came some of us didn't realize that they had attached an 18% tip charge and we inadvertently added an extra 20% to the bill. Our waitress got a really big tip that day. In the future, our group will seek out different locations. But for small groups, this is a nice place to eat.
We were seated right at the time of our reservation. But our table was directly in front of the mariachi band, which made it impossible to talk. We were able to move to a quieter table but the band was still very loud making conversation difficult.
We loved everything about Mago, except the noise. There was a live mariachi band playing inside the restaurant. It was so loud we couldn’t even talk. In my opinion, the restaurant is too small to have loud music like that.
