We had two meals, a lunch and dinner within a week. For dinner we had Sole and risotto: both delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. For lunch, risotto and the cassoulet. I LOVE the lunch time cassoulet, and i am glad it is back!
Seattle is losing a lot of nice dining establishments. Loulay is a wonderful oasis
I have been to Loulay several times and enjoyed it thoroughly. This time things were a bit off. The service was impeccable, as always, the crab fritters were doughy and didn't see to contain any crab, The chicken was dry and flavorless. On the other hand the crab salad was amazing and the frites are always good.
Had an amazing black cod dish for lunch. It was so good I almost ordered a second!
When we got to the restaurant, hostess did not smile but acted like he just wanted to get us to our seat. Service was generally good. Crab fritters were leaden, rather like a deep fried paste. Salads were OK, though the gem salad would be better presented with whole anchovies rather than bits of fish throughout, which has a rather sinister appearance. The sole tasted good but was egregiously over-sauced. Kitchen staff were loud and boisterously joking around, I suppose since they were getting ready to close. That probably accounts for the hostesses' careless reception. My suggestion would be that if the staff doesn't like working late, then do not accept reservations after 8:00. A disappointing experience - and I had been there before and had a good experience. It was made worse in that I had talked up the restaurant to my dining companion. I think Chef Thierry would have been embarrassed by the experience.
Loved the food and our server! Such a beautiful restaurant.
As always, had a terrific time and meal at Loulay! It was brunch this time, but everything was delicious. I will come back again and again for brunch and dinner!
I love this restaurant, but this particular outing the main dishes were not good. The service and atmosphere is outstanding.
My mom, sister and I have an annual holiday lunch. This was our first visit to Loulay and it was a find. Excellent food and service. We sat a long time and our coffee never got cold. We will be returning and won’t wait until next year. Can’t say enough good tho gd about our experience. 💞
Although was reassured on entry and by our waiter that we would be out in time to make our play at 8pm, service was delayed and we barely made it. Although 2 people at the table order the risotto, one with crab, the plain arrive 20 minutes before the second one and the last dinner , a hamburger, didn't arrive until the others were mostly finished. The last to receive dinner remarked that she ate alone. The food was good. The waiter, who didn't introduce himself, kept saying that it was because the restaurant was so busy because of the plays. It was a Saturday night - and there are always plays. His excuse did not make any sense. None of us will return to Loulay nor will we recommend it to anyone. A very big disappointment.
Crab fritters were amazing, as were the scallops. Servers were very attentive, but not overly so.
The food was amazing! The seared tuna and shrimp and grits were particularly good. The service was also wonderful.
Excellent food and service. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for sophisticated food and atmosphere
Crab fritters were terrible - way to much batter. Food was really slow in getting to the table. The sole and hamburger were good however. I don't know if I will be returning anytime soon.
Great atmosphere and had a good time
We were seated in a cozy booth and that was the beginning of a memorable meal. We were greeted warmly, the entire service from the staff was outstanding. A friend who assists fine dining restaurants with front of the house service would have given everyone a top rating.
My seafood stew was perfect, our dining companion had the duck and mentioned it was good but lacked a signature flavor.
As a guest, my measure is of course the quality of the food but I always remember the service!
I have been to Loulay several times, never disappointed. A had a friend with me who had never been before and she loved it also!
Beautiful French classic restaurant. Very interesting menu, well executed. Loved it.
Comfortable seating in a booth, lovely ambiance. Wait staff very attentive but not hovering. Food was uniformly delicious with well-balanced flavors (we had roasted carrots, salad, mushroom risotto, pork chop, black cod). My husband thought the pork chop was the best he'd ever had. Lovely chat with the chef after we finished. Was our first visit and we plan to return!
This was my second visit, and every bit as delightful and delicious as my first! Service was impeccable, duck is out of this world. Soup, salad, dessert, wine, port...I can't wait to do it again.
Kitchen must have been overwhelmed by the theater crowd. Half hour between salads and main course. Could not enjoy the food. Seemed out of server’s hands. She poured some extra wine during the wait and took a little off the bill, but too rushed.
Loved the ambiance and service. Food was a little too salty.
Do not miss this amazing place
Burgers were rare. Service was terrible.
The food was much better in my previous visit. No oyster on this visit
I also feel comfortable bringing friends and colleagues to Loulay, and recommending it, as well.
Service was fantastic. Meals are a little over priced but not totally out of line. One of the best burgers in Seattle
Great waiter!
I thought the food and wine was amazing! Beet salad, salmon, clams, charcuterie plate. Fabulous! My husband wasn’t thrilled with the hanger steak.
Perfect location for attending the ACT theatre afterwards.
It is a spendy place.
Great venue. Great service. Great food. Definitely recommend!
Everything was delicious, from the crab salad to the duck confit sliders or the scallops with pickled shallots and almond tart for dessert, it was hard to decide so we’ll probably come back to try the rest. staff was efficient discrete and smiling, it was a great experience. Highly recommended!
Good meal, forgetful service but the food was really good.
Loud room but intimate spaces. Nice atmosphere.
Wonderful service, environment and menu. Lunch was thoughtfully prepared and delivered in a prompt time frame. While the food is always outstanding, the service is really what makes LouLay shine.
Service can be bettered.
Sadly disappointed. Our 3rd visit and birthday celebration (6 guests). Food arrived on cold plates, steaks lukewarm. Coffee not hot. Spaghetti squash over salty, salmon dry and overcooked. Mushroom risotto bland.
Expensive meal for poor quality meals.
Likely not returning.
We were in from out of town and heard about “the best scallops ever” - the food did not disappoint! The ambience was perfect and loved our seating and service. Did not feel rushed.
Server: fantastic.
Foie gras: who serves that wonderful treat over garlicky legumes? Really? Stick to classic prep and quit experimenting on loyal customers.
Gem salad was overwhelmed with anchovy taste; no other taste notes could be detected.
We'll come back again but please don't disappoint us next time with the chefs experiments.
We shall return! Brunch before the matinee performance at the Paramount. The food quality if very high and the sweet potato French toast was outstanding!
Came for a second visit that was equally as enjoyable as the first. Top notch cocktails, excellent food and wine, great service, and relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to the next visit.
