The food was excellent and the service was great. My only complaint is that the bread was cold. It sounds foolish but we have found that many times when the bread is cold, the food wasn't very good. It is about attention to details and the customers first impression. This wasn't the case.
Great dining experience! Pasta was wonderful, really enjoyed the charcuterie as well.
A co-worker recommended the restaurant so I asked my wife if we could go for my birthday. It was a wonderful birthday dinner. I have the Mediterranean Salad and Gnocchi al Radicchio Rosso and my wife had Fusilli al Pesto and Insalata Mista. All of the food was delicious and plentiful. My wife had leftovers for lunch the next day. The history of the home and atmosphere made it even more special. We will be coming back.
I thought the main dishes were excellent and prepared well.
We had never been to this restaurant before. We were in New Haven from Westchester County for a Yale related event and made Open Table Reservation at L'Orcio. We were taken to a table upstairs which we initially felt was the 'overflow' room since we were the only ones there but it filled up by the time we were done and probably more intimate than downstairs. Food was really good, service was very attentive, and the price was reasonable for what we had. Would definitely go back there next time we are in New Haven.
This is one of the nicest, quietest, most elegant spots to enjoy excellent food in New Haven.
I made a reservation a week in advance. Our table was downstairs near kitchen by a curtain. This was very disappointing. Waiter took awhile to take our order. Food was great but next time I will request a certain area.
We love this place! Food is delicious, we were there during restaurant week and the portions were quite generous. Can’t wait to go again!
We went during restaurant week and I have to say, it was very good! The service was prompt, the food was delicious, overall a very good experience. I only wish I would have come here sooner. There were many specials for restaurant week under the Fixed Price Menu, and I am looking forward to going back and ordering from the regular menu. Overall, I was very satisfied with everything!
Wonderful service and excellent food! We loved the Nutella crêpes!
Delicious food! Love this place!
Loved the restaurant week menu selections!
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it took a little while to get our food, but it was a particularly busy night.
My wife and I have dined here in the past when in New Haven. The food is old school rustic Italian. It happened to be restaurant week. My wife had the eggplant app and the gnocchi for dinner. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked and as light as a feather. I had the soup and the pork osso Bucco over pasta. The pork had excellent flavor and the pasta was cooked al dente. The chef knows what he’s doing here. He is consistent and quality shows. A great glass pour list for the wines as well. I continue to be impressed each and every time we dine here.
Checked out L'Orcio for the first time during Restaurant Week. Small, quaint venue, with a rustic feel. Very chill atmosphere and not noisy at all, so easy to speak with other people. Food was excellent, had two pasta dishes, which seems like what they are known for. Would suggest it if you're looking for a quiet, nice meal.
Without a doubt, one of the best hidden gems in New Haven! The ricotta gnocchis are out of this world delicious. I’ve only been here twice, but it never disappoints. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, staff is always accommodating and professional. My fiancé now says it’s his favorite Italian spot in the area. I recently saw that they have a quaint garden patio in the back. Can’t wait to try that next summer. Five stars for sure!
It’s lovely and the food was delicious. It was a bit noisy as we were a small party next to a louder big party.
Lovely atmospere, and fabulous menu.
Had the lamb, and it was superb!
Service was great and the food phenomenal, as usual.
What a wonderful place on State Street. We ate on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but not hectic. One of the most pleasant surprises was how quiet the restaurant was - we were on the second floor. The tables are not spaced too close together, and you can converse at normal levels. Our service was friendly and attentive.
The food was great. My starter, stuffed sardines, was memorable. As a matter of fact, I was just thinking about the salad that came with these stuffed and fried fish, and how great the dressing was - just olive oil, lemon, and maybe a bit of garlic and or anchovy. A perfect complement to the fish. It was a great dish.
And then the Tagliatelle Osso Buco was also great, with stringy chunks of veal in a light tomato sauce.
Really a very nice place.
The dining experience at L'Orcio was excellent from the time we checked in to our goodbyes. Our server, Amy was pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu and wines in question. The food was fresh and flavorful. The grilled octopus was second to none. Many positives; the historic building, staff, menu, chef.
Food was really good. Nice clean dishes. Service was a tad slow, but not horrible. Atmosphere was nice. Sat upstairs and it was a bit noisy at times. Definitely worth a visit for a nice meal in new haven
Pasta selection was great and their ragu tasted good, but my pappardelle was a bit overcooked. All 3 desserts we ordered were amazing (tiramisu, pistachio gelato, and affogato)
Great food! Wonderful service! Loved the grilled octopus.
Restaurant is very nice, my meal was delicious however my girlfriends steak was blah. What ruined the night was our waitress, I ended up asking her how long has she been working there and I was shocked when she said three years. She’s not good for a place like this.
This was our third visit and we definitely plan to return
One of the few restaurants one can enjoy good food, a quiet atmosphere for conversation, and dining without feeling one is being rushed
We had just returned from Europe and Italy in particular and this was our first choice for dining here
Always a delight! Good food, good bar, friendly & competent wait staff.
Outstanding food and service! One of our faves! Will def be back
My husband is on a restricted diet and your restaurant had no problem accommodating us. We had a wonderful dinner.
As always, excellent food. The place is a little small and close so it does get a bit loud.
Family dinner on QU family weekend. Food was excellent. Service was good, consistent as usual...
Nice ambiance, good food but NO EXCUSE for waiting 40 minutes between the appetizer and the entire. Waiter said, 'sorry, kitchen is very busy.' The restaurant was half empty so the logical thing
is HIRE MORE PEOPLE IN THE KITCHEN. Very disappointed!
We spent a lovely evening dining outdoors. The hostesses, our waitress and even our busboy were very pleasant.
We sat outside on a beautiful evening, the lighting was gorgeous! Reminds us of Italy:)
The food was fantastic! Everything made fresh and came out piping hot. We even got dessert and they were all fantastic too...great place, highly recommend.
What a lovely place. Really enjoyed our dinner sitting in the terrace
We often dine at L'Orcio and always enjoy our meal and the experience. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the New Haven area!
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience from start to finish. The setting, service and food was great!. We dined on the patio and enjoyed it tremendously.
Will will be back soon!
We loved the outdoor terrace and the food was wonderful. From the farro salad to the grilled octopus and on to the entrees, spaghetti with shrimp, the chickpea ravioli and papardelle with ragu, everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The wine list had many nice choices and was also well priced. We will be sure to go again.
L'Orcio has the finest Italian food in New Haven!! And that says a lot. Everything is made fresh and the dishes are truly divine. Outside patio dining is lovely. Service is always excellent.
The staff was very friendly, service was perfect, food absolutely delicious, we did not have to wait, can't wait to go back
