Bo did an incredible job on the cocktails! We are quite picky about how to make an old fashioned, our favorite drink, and Bo was top notch. We dined on a Sunday evening and if I had to guess the kitchen was unexpectedly understaffed. We had a reservation for 7 people and when we arrived the hostess had to push tables together to get us seated. That’s not so big a deal but usually an Open Table reservation commands special attention. Seated at 6:30 pm and waiter didn’t show up for good 10 minutes. The ordering of drinks etc was a bit slow but appetizers came out fairly quickly. After that it was a slow and drawn out meal. They brought out the kids food first (note there were no kids menus so the 4 and 7 year old split a sirloin). When food finally came for rest around 8 pm it was so so. My wife’s steak was cool and over cooked. They did not dress the steak with the special gravy the waiter recommended. My son in law didn’t get fries (they ran out). My daughter only got a couple small tenders on her grilled chicken salad. We never got any bread even though the waiter said he was bringing some out. We finally got out of there around 8:30 pm. The wait staff was very pleasant and apologetic (we didn’t complain about anything) so they seemed to know it wasn’t a good experience. Maybe it was just us as it seemed other people’s meals moved along. The waiter was a super nice young man but it appeared the system was overloaded.

I only ordered an app due the menu being the so terrible. I was told they had to change the menu recently due I management. The old menu sounded fantastic , I just couldn’t understand why they would change such great dishes to a menu with hot dogs ?

We were staying at the resort so we used the shuttle taking very little time, but if you drive up there are plenty of parking spaces. Dinner was very nice with our picks of Salad, Chicken Alfredo, Chocolate Cake, and the Trio Hot Dogs. I wish there was a little more variety on the dinner entrees. The majority of the selections were pasta dishes, but it was all good and you had hand helds, soup and salads which made for a nice menu. Our bartender did a lovely job on our Martinis....very very cold and just made perfectly. Our waitress was a very sweet girl and she did a nice job taking care of us. The view at the restaurant is nothing short of spectacular and we would definitely come back to visit. There are areas on the patio to sit at tables or rock in the chairs....views of the golf course, resort, and the mountains. Beautiful. The entire staff was really nice and we had a lovely time. Perfect.

Based on their own descriptions, it seemed logical that Lightburn’s would be the more upscale of the 3, primarily being the lovely views & that families preferred Stillwaters. Well, the view was, indeed, lovely, but the menu was mediocre, at best. Dinner choices included fried bologna sandwiches with eggs, a trio of hot dogs, fish & chips, burger Only one seafood entree which was smoked salmon pasta Very disappointing, especially after we saw the menu at Stillwater’s, which was much more upscale My advice? Take the shuttle up for drinks on their terrace, then head back down for dinner

First the good points. Our waiter was outstanding! And the food was excellent - better than anything I would expect at a restaurant in a state park resort. This could have been an outstanding dining experience except for the hostess with an attitude. We arrived about 20 minutes early. There were several empty tables so I asked if we could be seated now. She rolled her eyes but had another worker seat us. A major reason we chose this restaurant was that I read about the superb view from the windows surrounding the restaurant. We were seated at the table farthest from the windows and view. Since I saw there were 5 tables for 4 closer to the windows I asked if we could be seated closer to the windows. The person seating us asked the hostess and told us all those tables had already been requested by others. Disappointing but we understood. However, we were at the restaurant for 2 hours and none of those tables, including one right next to the window, were ever occupied. I surmised she didn't like us arriving early and asking for another table so she wasn't going to do anything to make our experience more enjoyable. At our table water was dripping from the ceiling air conditioning vent onto my son and husband. We loved our waiter and didn't want to get him involved with the unhelpful hostess so we said nothing. When we left the restaurant we did tell the person who seated us (not the initial hostess) about the dripping water and they might want to get that fixed before seating others at that table. There was no apology, just a response of "okay and I hope you have a nice evening." The incredible waiter and good food made this a good dining experience but it could have been so much better if the hostess had not had such an attitude and been willing to seat us near the window and not at a table with dripping water. Except for 2 large groups, everyone else in the restaurant was seated right next to the windows.

We sat outside on the deck and that part was great. The service, though polite, weren't knowledgeable about the food or the wine. You can't serve 'high end' food @ resort prices and have poor service. This particular night there were maybe 5-6 other tables, so not busy at all. The smoked salmon app was good though it definitely needed some bread or crackers or something to go with it - but the waitress could not ID the 3 different flavors. My beet salad and my wife's potato leek soup were good - but c'mon - $12 for potato soup? My wife ordered the flat iron steak which in essence tasted like a glorified burger and was overcooked. I ordered the 'Butcher's Steak' though the waitress couldn't tell us what cut it was and it was overcooked. Plus my side of brussel sprouts was mushy and flavorless. Additionally I told them we weren't in a hurry and to space the timing, but alas I received my salad and the steak followed within a couple minutes. To top it off, they never really checked to see how the food was until we were in essence finished. I am not a complainer at a restaurant, but I did speak up and they offered me 10% off which was kind of a slap in the face considering both of our main dishes were more than sub par. The bartender did then comp our wine which was satisfactory. All in all I would recommend eating at the other resort restaurants as they offer great food at better prices with knowledgeable staff. I would save lightburn's as a place for a cold beer after golf.

There were a few groups with a lot of active children during our dinnertime. lol We were celebrating an anniversary envisioning a quiet, romantic atmosphere. There was a guest musician who was fabulous and though it was louder than we expected or cared for, the music was very enjoyable and lively. We really enjoyed our visit, it was just different than what we expected based on the description of the brochure, etc.

She informed us that all of our sauces for the steak would be coming on the side because it was to confusing to enter into the system how we each wanted our steak and what sauce went with each steak. Then one of the sauces came out and was horrible. We informed our server and she went back to the kitchen with it and informed us the person that made the sauce that night was new and made it wrong. At no point was anything offered as compensation for the fact that it was horrible and it was not replaced either. We ordered their signature drink, peach sangria, which was delicious. However, after the first two crafts we ordered (we were with a larger group) we were informed that they ran out of peaches for the drink. Then were asked to give them the crafts back because they needed them to make new drinks. I'm not sure how a restaurant like that only has two crafts for a signature drink? I had asked for the butter sauce for my filet only to receive a container of regular butter that was not melted. The waitress never came back until the end of the meal so I was unable to get sauce for my dry steak. We spend over $300 and I felt like it was not worth it given the service and quality of food. I would not go back except to sit out on their patio and enjoy the view.

We saw wildlife, lightning bugs and even a fireworks display from a wedding at the resort. The wine list could use some higher end options and the food was ok. Not much variety from the resort restaurant menu options and the chicken was very salty. Nothing was bad about the salad and entrees but nothing stood out. Coffee and chocolate lava cake were great.

We both had the three cheese ravioli with a glass of wine and it was the perfect ending to our day. We will definitely return again!

I made reservations in may and requested a certain area for my party of ten. I was disappointed to find that we did not get that area, in fact we (ten of us) were squeezed uncomfortably into a folding table designed for eight. Several people came in without reservations and were given the table that I requested months earlier. I was informed that this was due to a cancellation. I felt we should have been offered this table first. I understand that specific tables are not guaranteed, however after spending over $1300 at the lodge, $400 on a boat, and $600 on dining, should warrant SOME type of consideration, Especially when it was the second time we have done this.

The hostess, waitresses, right on top of everything and were working very hard. Velvet, the manager, came over to say hello, check on us and was so professional and kind. Zita was the waitress both nights and absolutely provided excellent service. WE have gone to Lightburn's before, several times this year and always a pleasant experience. After pointing out that there was a table open, by the window (for 2), we were told that was reserved. I kindly pointed out that we may be the ones who requested it. A manager got involved and easily made the switch. As for the dinner, the appetizers and salads were very good. However, the pork chop entree was completely overcooked and very difficult to even cut. We were asked about it, and just said we'd make do with how it was. The manager apologized and asked if we wanted a different entree, but we didn't want to take the time, so just passed. They ended up not charging for that entree, which was nice. The other entree, filet and shrimp was OK. The filet was prepared very nicely, but the shrimp were extremely small and a bit overseasoned. Not the normal size you'd expect as part of a combo platter like that. Ambiance was nice, and view was great. Very open dining with not a lot of privacy, but not too loud overall. Probably a better place for a good lunch or something.

The spinach artichoke dip could have been creamier and the parmesan crostini was not crispy. I had the mahi mahi, which was dry & over-cooked. My husband had the t-bone with baked potato. The t-bone had quite a lot of fat and the baked potato was overdone. The restaurant did not feel crowded, even though most tables were full; it's very spacious. The views of the resort are spectacular and there's always deer wandering in the meadows.

Lots of entertaining wildlife and this week a vocalist to sing to his audience. Food good, service excellent. A favorite that will draw us back for future meals.

The resteraunt was not crowded when we got there and that should have been our first signal, considering the resort was booked solid! We ordered our appetizer of deviled eggs and chilled shrimp. The waitress came out and apologized that they got the hard boiled eggs out and they were slimy and should not be served to anyone!! That should have been my 2nd signal!! My husband ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the delmonico steak with the salt crusted baked potatoe. I think they forgot to cook his pasta and brought it out to him!!! The shrimp was the same exact taste as the chilled shrimp! !!! Hmmm!!! My steak was like something you would order from some of your chains that serve breakfast and salad buffets!!! As far as salt crusted baked potato, I think they forgot to do that!!!!! They did take off the price for the appetizers, so they knew it wasn't right! As far as our meals, we both maybe finished 1/4 of it and just said we were finished! !!!! It was very disappointing considering we heard it was so good!!!

We ate on the deck, some of the tables are not under the roof overhang so if it rains, pick your table.... Waitress was great and attentive, salmon and asparagus was delicious. Berry Fruit tart a la mode was good too though not on the menu.

It was suggested that we go to Lightburn's for a celebratory dinner. The view was amazing! I did have to request that the lights be dimmed as they were on high like in a fast food restaurant. The service was fine; the dinner not so much. It was served partially cold. When we requested it to be warmed then the other part of the meal was returned cold. When mentioned to the management the following day, our discussion was cordial and addressed very professionally. We are appreciative of the manager's efforts to correct the situation. (Heather). We completed the online reservation, althought the staff seemed as thought they were not expecting us. They seated us fairly quickly and all were impressed with the breathtaking view. I must say I do miss the Smoked Gouda Fettucine which has not been on the menu for some time. The food was wonderful as always and it was a very pleasant experience, thank you so much!

My daughter had some special requests to switch out the side dishes to a soup and salad from the pasta salad & chips and they were happy to fulfill the request. The view was fantastic - it rained while we were there so we actually got a few nice pictures of a beautiful rainbow from the balcony. We finished with the Espresso Cream Brulee (yes, that's how it's spelled) - which was well worth the calories!

However, the golf club restaurant (Lightburns) has a long way to go to catch up. The view is great. The food at dinner is not. Appetizers appeared to be out of a bag, bottle, freezer, or can. Pasta dishes were lacking in flavor. Salads were unoriginal and appeared to be pre packaged. Expensive dinner definitely not worth the price. Would not recommend.

As it turned out, there were large parties each night. Wile enjoying a drink at the bar, we decided to eat there because our bartender, Eli, was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed talking to him so much that we dined at the bar the next night as well. The food was well prepared and delicious. Serving sizes were more than expected. My 12oz steak had to be at least 16oz and was done to perfection. Our only suggestion is that we would like to see a more extensive selection of entrees. I believe there were only about a half dozen choices and the menu has not changed in a few years.

Portions here are large enough for my husband and I to share so that we can sample an appetizer, salad & main course. All were deliciously prepared and our server was attentive to our needs. We will definitely return each time we are in the area--and the restaurant is open(seasonal).

Lightburn's had a more laid back menu, but had a fantastic view of the mountains and lake. The fried green tomato appetizer was probably my favorite, but my wife said the half chicken was great, but a little much in size. I had the Jambalaya and enjoyed it, but the rice seemed undercooked and the sausage was fairly bland. Overall, a nice place to relax and enjoy the view and have a descent meal.
