An Alexandria gem. Great service, good food and wonderful jazz! The only complaint was the slow service; our server had a party and didn’t have time to tend to us in a timely manner. He took so long to bring. Desert menu that we didn’t order.
As usual, service was excellent, the menu exciting and the food fantastic. And free parking!
Great place to try if you love live jazz music. Is a bit noisy towards the musicians but that is expected. The food is great!!
the meat was of low Quality, the Service was too quick, you had the last spoonfull still in the mouth and the next course came. Music was great.
Great, family-owned Italian place. Food was excellent and while very traditional menu, I loved it. Lasagna. Clam sauce spaghetti. Chicken Parmigiana. Get there on Monday or Tuesday, and get this —- Two full-sizes entrees and a bottle of wine for $29.95. Not each. $29.95 in total! With an added salad and desert, we left for about $60 with tip. This is my new ‘local favorite’. And I expect to return many, many times.
We loved the music, the atmosphere, the menu selection and the cocktails oh and a nice wine list. We will return again.
We enjoyed the cuisine and the fine music! It was very enjoyaable.
Loved the music and the specials for dinner were especially good!
Good food, good music, nice place to go to. Service was very good attentive.
I took my sister there for her birthday. Everyone was so nice. The food and entertainment was great.
We had an outstanding experience. The food and the jazz were both exceptional. We look forward to returning the next time we are in town.
Monday and Tuesday nights are always great a LaPorta! The special is amazing. Anything you choose on the menu is good. The piano sets a great mood and you can beat a free bottle of wine - especially one you can take with you IF you don't finish :)
Great place for dinner. You can barely hear the live music in the bar area so I suggest sitting in the main dining room if you are wanting to enjoy the live music.
We were able to get a last minute reservation for 12 for a special birthday. Great atmosphere, great food, and great service. Live jazz but not too loud. Everyone complimented the dinner.
Outstanding food with amazing presentation. Attentive, personable waiters. Incredible jazz music. Love this place!
Service iffy at first, but once waiter engaged, things were better. Loud group of six or so should have been seated on other side of restaurant so rest of diners would not have to hear them. Entree salad was very plain.
The music was quite complimentary with the dinner, wine, and overall ambiance.
Live jazz was an unexpected treat
Superb as always. Live music is a treat
Valentine’s Day celebration, nice. Good food a bit expensive but would recommend. Bar next to dining area.
We love being there
The food was some of the best we have had since living here in the DMV. The Chefs are extremely gifted, classy, and it shows in their presentation, from the appetizers, the sauces, each bite of the entrees, and even the pairings of the wines with meals and deserts to die with and for.
Forced to eat valentines menu, which wasn’t even good. Selection was ridiculous. Squeezed in a table. Wine glasses were amateur for such a restaurant. You get an appropriate vino glass only if you order a bottle. The fact they charged $15 a head for entertainment that would be normally free if you came on regular nights was crazy. Mark up was unreal and we will never come back where we truly enjoyed Sharon Clark band and regular menu. Shame on the management for taking advantage due to Valentine’s Day.
It is always great at LaPortas
Our experience at Laporta's was, as expected, very enjoyable. Food was excellent and the service was responsive and professional. Satin Doll's performance completed the evening for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner. Will definitely be back. Thanks Laporta!
Great experience! Everybody involved with our night was perfect.
Welcome lunch for a new staff member.
Came for a nice Sunday lunch. Was not disappointed. Service was excellent. Help me forget that I was fighting a horrible head cold.
Excellent food. We shared pork belly and mushroom toasts appetizers which were delicious. The steaks are always very good; the special of monkfish with a jalapeno pasta was very inventive and excellent combination. The service is always good and the accompanying singing of Sharon Clark made it a wonderful pre Valentines evening.
I periodically organize business dinners for groups of 25 or so. It is really difficult to find a restaurant that does not require a contract and will allow for some last minute flexibility with the group size. Laporta really fit the bill. I reserved 3 tables for 3 groups of 8. I spoke with a restaurant employee who sat us close together and allowed for a staggered arrival. The restaurant staff were extremely accomodating--they even allowed separate checks. The food was delicious, and there was live jazz music which really added to the evening. The waitstaff were exceptional. The next day I heard many complements about the evening. I highly recommend this as a lovely casual evening out.
The restaurant week menu was an excellent value and LaPorta offered their full menu. The food was very good, but the service was slow. Soup and salads came out promptly and then we waited 45 minutes to receive our entrees. Interestingly it came out within a minute or two of my asking our server about it.
Restaurant Week at Laporta's was definitely memorable! We were able to mix and match our salad, entree and dessert from the entire menu. The servers clearly explained the menu and daily specials, suggested appropriate wine selections, and kindly answered all of our queries. The food was plated beautifully and appealed to the varying palates of our group. A highlight of the evening was the musical accompaniment of a jazz trio to our dinner experience.
Our waiter was very kind and the meal was delicious. We went for restaurant week and they had a lot of good options. The cheesecake was to die for.
Old school atmosphere with small jazz combo playing in the dining room. Food was nicely prepared.
Our food was inconsistent. Some of the desserts and appetizers were really good but others were lacking in Caesar salad was well prepared while mesclun salad with pear emulsion was tasteless.
One diner said the tiramisu was the best he has had anywhere ,my lemon tart had a very dense hard crust and was not exceptional in anyway. All 4 entrees were good.
My husband and I had a wonderful lunch. The hangar steak was delicious and the waiter personable
Love this restaurant. Great food and service. Enjoyed by locals and out of town guests.
We picked this restaurant for Restaurant Week because it makes the whole menu available. I had the Hanger steak, my wife had the Chicken Envoltine. We both loved our choices. The live Jazz was a nice bonus.
We plan on coming back.
Great place music adds to the romantic ambience
