Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love.     Just wow!!!!! Every dish was bursting with unique and delicious flavors. The serving sizes are fair, leaving us very satisfied. Favorites were: jump beans, tofu, and pork chop but each dish was totally different and delightful. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and attentive.

    Although I am a foodie and have been in the industry for years, I never leave reviews. HOWEVER, I needed to shout out the team at SBP. Fantastic, unique and innovative experience with an outstanding and diverse menu. Don’t leave without trying the namesake item! And let the circulating offerings cycle a bit before you order too much from the printed menu! The staff was kind and happy. So fun. Thank you!

    We have dined at House of Prime Rib many times over the years but this one hit especially hard as we came here to remember our beloved Mother, on what would have been her 82nd birthday -- she passed away the week before. She didn't enjoy eating out much, but HOPR was her favorite, so we felt it was appropriate to celebrate her life at her favorite restaurant. What stood out this time was the enthusiasm and genuine care by our server, Alberto. His efficient service and attention to detail (seeking out a rib bone from another cart when he noticed it was not served to my sister's mother-in-law by our chef) provided us an exceptional experience. His authenticity really shined through, not only to us but to surrounding tables. When it came to dessert time, he was only informed by the front desk that we were celebrating a birthday (I noted it in the comments section about my mother's passing but he was not informed) so he arrived at our table holding behind his back, a couple of scoops of sherbert with a candle and delicately asked "I hear we have a birthday here". After telling him about the special occasion, he was completely touched by the story, empathetically reaching out his hand to comfort me. He lit the candle and offered us a moment of silence. Finally, HOPR is always a solid choice, but the level of service is what stands out and will always be remembered. And for that, we will request Alberto as our server from now on. Thank you Alberto for your outstanding service and kindness. ❤️
