The Beacon is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. We are heartbroken to share that during an ice storm in January 2026, Bistro Roca suffered a fire, and our historic building was lost. While the loss is devastating, we are deeply thankful for the outpouring of kindness, support, and love from near and far.At this time, Bistro Roca is temporarily merged with our sister restaurant Hellbender Bed & Beverage, lcoated at 239 Sunset in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock. We are excited to share this experience with you all and are so happy to continue serving our Bistro Roca and Hellbender guests where the same spirit of hospitality, care, and connection lives on.We will share updates here as we are able. Our farmers define our menu. The local Appalachian produce changes with the season and so does our menu. The menu will change week to week or day to day depending on climate and seasonal growth length. From ramps and morels to soft shell crab and local beef, we strive to provide the absolute freshest in ingredients. We kindly ask that our guests are aged 12 years and older and pets are left at home.Our limited space against the window is our most popular request; we may not be able to fulfill all requests in the evening. Artisanal Restaurant is open seasonally from May-October end. Contemporary American Fine Dining in a rustic yet elegant environment. Innovative and progressive thinking in a farm to table approach, only working with the highest quality ingredients. This warm environment offers the best food and wine with excellent service. Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence. Private dining room adjacent to the wine cellar available is for events. The only available menu is a pre-fix style, with 5-6 choices per course, $110/ guest plus a service fee. We do not offer a kids menu however kids prepared to order off our pre-fix menu are welcome. Our Dress Code is Business Casual. Collared shirts are required, jackets are preferred but not required for men. No shorts, distressed jeans, hoodies, hats, or sandals/flip flops.     Jessica is absolutely the best waitress I’ve ever had in my life. We had a table of eight with some picky eaters and some dietary restrictions. She was amazing in her recommendations, her patience, and her speed of service. The Smashburger was delicious. We will definitely be back …. and asking for Jessica.!

    Our date night was perfect as usual at Casa Rustica . Our server Pia was great and let us take our time to enjoy our appetizers and pre-dinner drinks. The food was amazing as always. I got the tri-colored tortellini and added shrimp and my husband had the seafood pasta, all cooked to perfection! So much food, we were happy for leftovers. The food, service and atmosphere are perfect for a nice dinner out with that special someone or friends.
