Lai Po Heen at Mandarin Oriental - Kuala Lumpur
We are glad to come here for our first wedding anniversary dinner. Service and food was excellent.
Everthing is nice. But of course it would be better if the price is more affordable 😉
We must commend the hotel for having a team of great staff which provides impeccable flawless service although we find the foods are a little pricey.
Although the service & environment are good, I find the price is exceptionally pricey !
The food was delicious and service was good. I would recommend to friends to come here
Overall ok, except we were all distracted by a commotion in the kitchen.
Service is tip top and employees will recommend us their best selling dishes. Overall a good experience.
The food was subpar every dish felt dated and lacked any kind of flavour even the signature duck was over cooked was beyond ordinary unsure why this place is so highly rated. The dining room is dated as is the flat ware, however the staff were attentive but lot of overlap asking the same things and running off without actually acknowledging the feedback. Just bad.
Excellent quality, we had the Jade Menu, shows a good variety and top preparation, the Australian Shiraz wonderful and at a good ratio price, after such a satisfying meal maybe the dessert was a bit of a let down but we more than made for it at the café downstairs where both desserts we ordered were very good indeed with a superb port to accompany them. Only would suggest to add a sweet riesling ( auslese or vendage tardive) to your menús to go with some of your desserts or foie gras, a place we would definitely go back to congratulations
Lai Po Heen has been our go to restaurant for dim sum since the early 2000s. We have always enjoyed the dim sum and the service. The Durian Pancake is always a must to order and I always make it a point to have my Yee Sang fix here during CNY. Please keep up the good job and keep the standards high always.
It was a busy night and we had to wait long for our food to arrive. Tea was not replenished - no staff was checking that it was. After dinner we had a cake for my father’s birthday. The table was not cleaned before the cake came out. Was dissapointed with the standard of service. Food was delicious but the service was a major letdown.
The food is good but however it is a bit overprice, maybe it was a busy night and hence the food took a slightly longer to be delivered and the tea that we ordered tasted like plain water.
Good food and excellent service! Nice place to catch up with friends over lunch.
Had indicated it was a birthday celebration and window seating. Unfortunately both were not considered.
wonderful food, service and atmosphere. loved everything about it.
Thank you very much for super cake! 4ever I and my husband remember this special moment
Service was really poor. Waiter couldn’t explain the dishes well or even remember the order well. Felt unpolished and generally unprofessional for Mandarin Oriental restaurant. Waiters would also drop stuff while clearing the plates from other tables. The furnishings need a refresh - the push cart for the Peking duck was all chipped on the side. Very disappointing and wouldn’t come back. Also drinks menu totally doesn’t match. I would expect a Chinese restaurant to have a good selection to Chinese tea - not TWG tea bags..
It was fairly empty the weekend we went, which isn’t a norm for the restaurant. Food was amazing as always and price was surprisingly decent.
Have always enjoyed lunch at Lai Po Heen. The service is impeccable and the food scrumptious and fresh. Will definitely be back. Thumbs up!
we booked a table for 6 pax, but upon reaching there, we were given a table for 5 pax and need to stand there to wait for waiter to set for another person! This is very unacceptable.
we have to ask for 3 times to get them to serve us 2 bowls of rice.
Love everything about Lai Po Heen. Esp the durian pancake and hot and sour soup
For a start, I praised the manager’s effort to recover and apologize for the foods and service . He was only the only plus here that we gave the only star.
We booked and reserved a duck, chicken , durian dessert. On arrival at 7 pm, we ordered a few more items. At 7:15 pm when all my guests arrived, we gave the go ahead to serve. At 8:05 pm, we did not even got our first dish. After asking a few times, it finally arrived at 8:20pm, after an hour wait. Next, the crispy chicken was wrongly served. The truffle rice we ordered was more expensive but it doesn’t have the truffle smell after changing it. The duck wrap was too thick. It is unimaginable how this restaurant was voted so high in 2016 and 2017
Place was largely empty, decor very formal, service was good but not very organized with many different people coming up to ask me how dinner was or if I wanted anything (certainly a lot better than being ignored though). I got the soup with crab and bamboo pith, very delicious although could use more crab. I also ordered a whole soon hock (600 grams) which was also very delicious, served with bones which I didn't expect at a high-end restaurant but not a problem at all. For dessert, I had the durian crepes, which I have to say were nasty, but I blame my palate and not the quality of the dish. Had a couple of mojitos which were small and filled with chopped ice so the actual amount of beverage was very small. I could overlook that if they were amazing, but they were not, just fine. Next time, I'll stick with just the jasmine tea (which was very good and the staff was also good at making sure my teacup was always full).
If you are bringing an overseas friend to experience authentic Chinese cuisine with a great ambience and wonderful service, then this is the place to be.
The food is great, the staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely will visit again.
I had requested for a table with a view as it was my wife's birthday. Unfortunately since the table was not available, it was not possible. however, when I got a call, I was told that the chef would do something special, this did not happen.
otherwise have been there a few times and people are friendly and food is good
I understand that the restaurant is busy during lunch hour but the ambiance would be better if the waiter/waitress doesnt run around the dining area.
Excellent food and preparation. Very gentle staff even if not a service of a 5 stars hotel restaurant. The glazed duck is fabulous, a must!
Went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I had stated it in my booking but never made any special request. At the end of the meal the staff came out and surprised my wife with a special dessert complete with a candle and signing Happy Birthday. It was amazing and my wife was so happy. Really appreciate the extra effort from the restaurant management and all the staff to make it truly memorable. Of course the food was amazing as always.
Dad’s birthday celebration. Wonderful evening, excellent food.
