Tender Roasted Prime Rib
Roasted perfectly and served with Au Jus
Rack of Lamb
Pecan crusted rack of lamb cooked to perfection and served with mint
The most tender of all served with Béarnaise sauce
Food is always great. Service very professional
When you walked in you could feel the history of the building. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and prepared quickly. Will definitely be going back
Very poor service from the FOH staff. No real interest in giving any customer service from arriving to leaving.
Only good thing was the food was top notch.
We enjoy dining at Lafayette House Restaurant because it is one of the few locations in the area where the dining room atmosphere is quiet and the food is always good.
We decided to sit outside. Wasn’t sure how it would be. It was lovely. Very nice, they even had a singer playing 70’s music. Would highly recommend!
What a perfect evening. Filets were outstanding, cooked perfect at medium rare! Raosted potatoes and mixed veg perfect accompaniment. Creme Brulee for dessert=perfect ending! Becky, our server, also perfect!! To top this all off, we got to sit outside and they had a great entertainer. Such a repertoire of songs from various decades! Thank you Lafayette House! Please stay around!
My first time here. Sat outside in the lovely patio area. Great musician playing. Everything was great. Will definitely be back.
I love to try local restaurants when I travel and this little piece of history did not disappoint! We had the fish and chips and the stuffed sole. Both meals were wonderful! The staff was warm and welcoming. Hank you for a great birthday dinner!
Great , historic place. Very limited menu for Mother’s Day, only 1 appetizer (shrimp) offered. But lovely experience.
Run so well from start to finish
Food quality better than expected
Server x 30 yrs. Perfect blend of professionalism and utmost efficiency and timing.
Room ambient, alternating tables
Hostess on top of patrons (deciding to ignore prominent signage) and walk around holdings their masks instead of wearing on face
Wonderful Sunday dinner at Lafayette House. Service was impeccable, with our server offering honest suggestions about which options we might enjoy. She was correct; filet mignon and baked stuffed shrimp were divine, as we're the roasted vegetables and potatoes that accompanied each meal. A delicious desert and cup of coffee rounded out our feast. We felt save at all times as the restaurant followed all COVID precautions. The tables were full, but we felt at all times that we were our server's only responsibility! We discussed our pleasure with the great value we felt we had gotten from Lafayette House.
Mother’s Day dinner
I took a chance and ordered the lamb as did my mother. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Lamb is one of those entrees that is not easy. This was great.
Great food, great service, great historical building. Will dine again.
Food was delicious (bacon wrapped scallops, spring rolls, and prime rib) and the service was exceptional. The setting is lovely, and the character of the historic house makes it different from other restaurants.
Wonderful place to eat! Very quaint and beautifully decorated. Food was delicious and service was great!
We live about an hour away but would consider driving back to have dinner again just to sit outside in the patio and listen to music. A varied menu, good bar selection (as a single malt drinker I was able to find a few items I liked and a nice pour!), staff was friendly and courteous and sitting outside while a duo played/sang was awesome.
Dinner was absolutely delicious. The service was top notch. The noice level was really non- existent. There were only 3 tables in use because we were in the dining room at 4pm. We left via the bar area which was pretty full.
Such a joy to be back there again.☺️
Enjoyable evening. Food was yummy, the salmon with dill sauce, a special, was excellent. Service very good. Building quite old and needs some updating. Not my first visit, food and service always good
Good food, good people in a friendly environment at a reasonable value.
Haven't been to The Lafayette House in a long time and it was fantastic.
Very nice early season outdoor dining. Your entertainer was excellent. We were there to catch up with a relative we hadn’t seen all winter so our main objective was to talk. For that reason the music was a bit too loud for us. Still, the musician took it in stride that were were doing our best to focus on the people at the table instead of him and he did not call us out on it.
I would definitely come back for a Saturday night dinner. I would just ask to sit further away unless I was coming specifically for the entertainment. For people who are up close my guess is he likely would be too loud unless he turns down his amp for future gigs. He really was good and energetic and likable. We just had different things on our minds.
The food was great. And considering how large the crowd on the patio was the service was very good.
Made a reservation specially for outdoor seating at 5:15, only to get there and be told we couldn’t sit outside. The reason: because “other diners had reservations for 6 and 6:30 to listen to the music.” I explained that although my wife and kids were looking forward to the music outdoors as well, would be done by 6:45 to make room for the next sitting.
The poor hostess consulted her spiral notebook of handwritten reservations and a diagram of the seating chart, only to tell us that she could not accommodate us outdoors. We were then led to a table in the bar area, not even given the choice of a booth in the dining room like other patrons.
The service was better at the table but we had to ask for water, and the rolls came out late. The options for kids were limited and when we ordered a pizza for them, we were told that there was no pizza available (at 5 on a Saturday night?!). In addition, there was no beer, wine, or cocktail list?!
The food all looked like it came out of a freezer and was defrosted in microwave. The portions were a decent size and it wasn’t outrageously priced were the only good things I have to say.
Lafayette has the charm of history and the efficiency of modern as the servers had to hustle in and out from the kitchen to the lawn with our orders. Sitting on the patio and lawn was a real treat in April with 70 degree day. Plenty of parking.
Our outdoors table was wonderful, the food was very good, the entertainment was outstanding, the server, however , was a little surly. That would be the only reason to take points off the experience, I felt like she didn't want to be there.
THIS PLACE OF BUSINESS SHOULDN’T EVEN BE CALLED A BUSINESS!!! Lafayette house.... more like a dungeon!!!!! I made a reservation for a specific time on a Sat night and was not seated until 45 minutes after i made the reservation!!! On top of that the service was non-existent the same way we were treated from start to finish. Let me go on to say that the food was cold, undercooked and overpriced for the quality. The server only came over to take our order and nothing more. Never checked on us for refills of our drinks, to see if we needed anything or how the food was. When I tried to explain to the waitress after 40 minutes of waiting for the check and multiple attempts to have her come over only to be ignored, she slapped the check on the table and walked away. She disregarded anything we tried to say about our experience and the meal. After trying to get in touch with the manager/owner, Ron Young, from the moment he picked up the phone there was attitude. He could have cared less about any of my concerns, he said he didn’t want to have to find out who the server was without pulling up the check number because it was too much work. After spending over $100 on a subpar meal I continued to express my disappointments and he told me that he didnt like my attitude and hung up the phone mid conversation. Not only does this unstable manager/owner have an attitude problem them self but the level of unprofessionalism and rudeness towards me (the customer) was astonishing. This person seemed that they can’t handle any criticism of their restaurant and was very mentally unstable. SAVE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY AND AGGRAVATION AND GO TO MCDONALD’S INSTEAD.
Went for their Easter dinner, I had Prime Rub and my husband had the filet off their holiday menu. Came with a house salad (amazing dressing) and roasted potatoes and fresh green beans w/red peppers. Outstanding food!!
Historical Place with a quiet ambience. We enjoyed Easter Dinner at the Lafayette House and when our travels take us east again we will return to have dinner.
Another great Easter meal celebrated at Lafayette House. Everything was delicious!
Went for Easter and the food was amazing as it has always been.
Easter dinner. We had prime rib, lamb, chicken piccata and stuffed shrimp. All delicious. Salad was a good size and entrees came with potato and green beans. A nice dinner! Dessert was yummy too.
Very, very disappointed. My family and I (6 members) were looking forward to our Easter dinner at the Lafayette House. Our reservation was for 2:30 p.m. and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Once were seated, we had to wait for the waitress. When she (who was pleasant) arrived at our table and she took our drink and dinner orders. We received our drinks, salads and basket of rolls. After finishing our salads, the waitress cleared our table. This is where things went down hill. We waited, no kidding, 1 hour and 15 minutes for our dinners. We were joking that the restaurant had to go to Alaska for the fish and to a animal farm for the filet mignon and rack of lamb for meat. 1 hour and 15 minutes for our dinners. Awful!!!! Very poor management in getting our dinner. The food was good. We also ordered desserts, but was disappointed that there was no offer for coffee or tea. Very, very disappointed. We will not be attending any future holiday events/dinners at the Lafayette House.
I've been dining at Lafayette House for years. The ambience, decor and, of course, the food, have always been wonderful. All of that was, too, this past Easter Sunday.
My only "down" point would be the noise level. I have NEVER heard so much noise at this establishment in my life, and it was annoying to have to ask my dinner companion if she could speak up.
But overall, the experience was a good one.
Another wonderful holiday spent at The Lafayette House! All was lovely, as usual!
Had Easter dinner. Reservations for 11:30AM, taken in right away. Great service and had many entree’s to choose from. Food was excellent.
Amazing food! Great people, highly highly recommend
We had a very nice, delicious dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We couldn't have been pleased more.
First time back at Lafayette House in decades. Pleasantly surprised. Food was great, decent wine list and prices were very reasonable. Service a bit of a disappointment. The hostess was so stressed (and didn’t attempt to hide it) that it didn’t make for the warmest of welcomes. Once seated, our server left us alone - which is fine - but I would have expected at least one “check-in” to see if everything was OK (luckily everything was OK!). Great night overall.
Exquisite and historic mahogany stand up bar! Lounge/tavern is old school cool with flagstone floor. Lighting nice. Fireplace so nice. Dining room is much more formal.
Entrees were delicious. We were there on a Friday night and had the baked scrod and fish & chips. The portion sizes are made for normal human beings! They are not ginormous. You probably won’t leave feeling like a glutton, and you may not leave with leftovers. But that’s ok. Because half the time you forget your leftovers at the restaurant, and the other half of the time you end up throwing them out.
Waitstaff are outstanding. Courteous and professional.
This restaurant is an institution! Must try.
It’s an old restaurant that needs a facelift and a “food”lift, but since Covid has hit most restaurants pretty hard, I try not to be critical.
Both the dill sauce on the salmon, and lemon sauce on the chicken were lacking in flavor.
But the chicken poppers (homemade) and fries were tasty, leaving me to conclude that Lafayette House should stick with traditional tavern fare and leave the sauces to the French.
