Spicy Saffron, Curry or Marinire???
Leek & truffle pie, greens salad
Nice little French style bistro with good food, not outstanding, but good. Gave it a low three star rating for ambience for I did not find the physical distancing to be quite enough for indoor seating. Yes, they may have complied with law but no masks being worn as people ate, much conversation, could not feel completely comfortable. Originally had hoped to eat outside, but rain prevented such.
Go if weather good for outdoor seating, think twice if otherwise
Fantastic experience at La Voile; they have implemented seamless COVID-19 procedures and service/food quality surpassed expectations. We live nearby and this was our first time at La Voile. Excellent cocktails as well.
We went for drinks at La Voile accompanied with the charcuterie board and les fromage. Both were very good and very filling. The cocktails could have been better for the price, and we would've preferred some music at our indoor seating. Overall we will come back and are looking forward to trying the dinner menu.
I reserved an outdoor table but got put in the patio/garden section which is really just the back alley of Newberry Street, expected to sit up front with my girlfriend who wanted to be at the street level instead got put in a little nook and cranny low down. I’ve been eating here for years hard to believe they don’t recognize a regular customer. Food is always good Although Way overpriced. Boston needs more affordable French restaurants which serve the usual dishes without the heavy price tag
The best service I have had in Boston, including more expensive restaurants. The food was impeccable, the Duck Confit and Steak were out of this world. Best wait staff I have encountered at a restaurant in the greater Boston area, they are second to none. Professional, timely, communicative, and they genuinely care that your experience is perfect. I would recommend La Voile again and again. Must try!
Great overall experience and food!
I'm sorry, but we were disappointed. We were put in the adjacent patio of a different restaurant, which didn't have the same allure. Fish was ok, but a bit tasteless, french fries, not crunchy or very tasty. Desserts a disappointment.
Sadly no strengths to report. We have eaten here a number of times and found the service excellent and the food bistro quality and good. Not this time the service was amateurish indeed we had to ask the waiter to wipe of crumbs from the table after he plunked fresh silverware in them. We realize the limits of outdoor dining in these times but eating next to a parked car in the alley was a joy kill. The hostess managed to try and find the worst table in the alley and had the nerve b to be miffed when we refused to sit there. The food was mediocre likely done by new kitchen staff moving over from Mc Donalds. Until the place is running under normal conditions I won’t go back and maybe not even then.
eat outside this week. plenty of space between the tables. I had the pan seared foie gras and the mussels that came with a side of fry's. The foie gras was outstanding, the mussels were great and I love their fry's. this resturant is like eating in Paris...great food and great menu!
Interesting outdoor seating in the back parking lot area but food, cocktails and service were all superb.
Love the food, staff and location! Thank you!
We had a birthday dinner there outside and the service was very good. The Dover Sole is outstanding and the affogato to die for. We’d go back in a nanosecond.
Great place for an anniversary dinner, I had the “taste of France” menu, and it was amazing. Completely recommended
We had a wonderful dinner at La Voile a few nights ago. Most of the food we ordered was outstanding, the service by our waiter was excellent, and the table we had outside was far enough away from other tables that we were able to relax and not worry about interacting with strangers during this cornona virus pandemic. The food items that the 4 of us shared and liked best were the escargots, the foie gras terrine, the pea soup, a plate of 4 cheeses, the grilled sea bass, rack of lamb, and ille flotant. The duck breast was also good and so was the chocolate mousse. The wine and after-dinner drinks were also very good.
We were lucky with the weather, which was not overly hot and humid, which made sitting outside quite enjoyable.
Excellent experience except for street noise which is why I will return to dining indoors as soon as I am comfortable.
Went here for an anniversary dinner. It was the first day allowed for indoor dining in MA. Great service and food.
Although we have enjoyed takeout from LaVoile over the last few months, eating there made the wonderful food taste even better! We applaud you on your creativity in providing additional patio space. We will be back soon!
The patio was amazing, we my family and I went for father's day and had a great time. We had been in Paris earlier this year and it felt like we were there. Good, authentic French food.
Seated outside due to COVID. Tiny table could not hold our apps, water, and wine.
My husband and I went here for our first dinner out since everything shut down. The restaurant has patio seating in the front and back. Menus were digital and all servers wore masks. Food was great and service was amazing.
Not 6 feet from other table of diners. Seated right next to stairs where people were walking in and out. Hand sanitizer available but didn’t see anyone use it. Did not feel safe regarding COVID19 precautions.
Considering the dining restrictions imposed on us due to Covid 19, La Voile did a fine job serving Al Fresco style. The staff seemed very busy due to the circumstances but the service, ambiance and atmosphere served us well. The food continues to be outstanding. I had the Escargots and lamb chops - which were fabulous.
Rather than sitting on Newbury Street our seating was behind the restaurant in a converted parking spot overlooking a dumpster and numerous parked vehicles and a sign stating parking was only available if you were a tenant in the building. Not exactly a nice romantic evening.
During pandemic, outside dining was lovely, server was relaxed and friendly, food was marvelous! Perfect wY to enjoy out to dinner during shut down.
Would recommend to a friend. Great restaurant for date.
Wonderful outdoor back deck area. Great food experience.
Absolutely delicious french food. The Sole is amazing. The outdoor dining patio is romantic at night.
In our first experience eating out since March, La Voile was welcoming, and we felt very safe. Our meal was delicious, our server delightful, and everyone kept their distance!
Food was perfect. Highly recommend the steak with carrot purée. Outdoor seating was in the back parking lot. Not too bad just extremely hot that particular day. Once indoor dining opens back up I’d definitely come back for a table inside!
It was our first meal “out” for months., so I invited a young friend to celebrate his birthday. We were welcomed warmly and situated at a socially distanced table at La Voile’s patio, curbside. My friend’s appetizer of smoked salmon was too large to precede his delicious rack of lamb, so he was able to take home an ample half. My chilled English pea soup was perfect for the warm evening and was delicious, as was a duck breast, and a light large floating island. Although it was a fine prix fixe meal, it was too much, and next I’ll order less. Each item was just as simple elegant French food should be. It was a setting, menu, and service well worth repeating soon.
Delicious as always....... friendly and attentive service
this place is my favorite French restaurant in Boston -- only the best!
Delicious food, thoughtful/attentive staff. A soothing experience during these social-distancing times.
Glad that they can accommodate more people with a patio behind the building but sitting in the alley, even fancied up, kept me looking for rodents with a neighbor's dumpster just feet away. But same great food and service.
Really good food. We had the mussels with spicy saffron sauce and salmon. Both were excellent. Cocktails were delicious as well.
We went to la Voile just as restaurants were reopening during phase 2 of the Covid reopening, which only allows outdoor seating. La voile set up outdoor seating in the back, which was very nice. The food is delicious, definitely get the quiche. The waiter was very nice, we had cocktails, appetizer, main course (mussels and fries, and salmon) and dessert, all for around 100 dollars, which was a very reasonable price. Overall a good quality/price ratio.
Great for a special occasion! It's rather pricy but you get what you pay for, the food, drinks and service are absolutely top notch. The lamb was cooked to perfection, the sole was immaculate and the truffle mashed potatoes ruined regular mashed potatoes for me, that's how good they were. Intimate location and the outdoor seating is as good as one could ask for.
it was great to go back to dining at La Voile. The food and service are better than ever. We missed it.
Great food and service. The outside seating was cute but way too cold. Should get some heating lamps for the outside.
This is a Covid-19 review, but I had a wonderful time eating out for the first time since the quarantine restrictions had been lifted. While our table was darker than we would have liked, the food and the staff were wonderful. The duck, steak, mussels, and creme brule were all cooked to perfection. The wine list was huge. Overall it was a perfect night.
