La Storia offers a setting for all occasions - whether you’re planning a date night for two or a gathering for 50.
Went in Sat night with a party of 5. Overall experience was fair at BEST. Server was very nice, but aloof with service. Constantly asking for more water and pouring our own wine. Given appetizer sided plates to eat our family style main courses. Special risotto was one of the better dishes, but overall very fair for the rest of the dishes. In a town with so much amazing Italian I won't be returning and neither should you.
Very disappointed. I am Italian and food here was nowhere near expectations.
The pasta was good but the service was so slow and waitress was not attentive.
My sister and I came for the marathon special of which you could choose from a list of 4 dishes of pasta or risotto then got unlimited servings of whatever you chose for $22. Sounds too good to be true right? It was. I got the penne option with red sauce + the sauce was very sweet, my sister got the spinach pasta with chicken that was crispy.. yuck. Then the waiter took our plates away + asked if we wanted more so we said yes and weirdly he came back with our check so we paid and sat there waiting for our next dish. It’s partly our fault for not saying something soobwr but after 15 mins the waiter asked if he could get us anything else and we were dumbfounded.. yes? Our other dish we just ordered. Somehow he was not even informed of the special so he thought we were kidding? It took a while for him to come back to check in with us and we were 1 of 3 tables.. We eventually got our 2nd dish and it was not very good again but we waited so long now we were still very hungry. I wish we had a better experience but it seemed like the staff didn’t care to try at all since it was a slow monday night.
Seemed odd that they were out of the Chianti Classico by the glass at $13. The server offered a substitute wine without indicating that the price was $6 more.
Great food lovely room great service and certainly we will be back in the future soon.
Our server was very nice. We were surprised that the menu had summer food options (lots of seafood) and hadn't really transitioned to fall items (squash blossoms, pumpkin). They were out of the wine I ordered, but I did get to try a sample of a similar wine before confirming a switch to that one. The servings sizes were great. My favorite dish out of all of the one we tried was the Spinach Tagliatelle Bolognese. I would visit again if the menu was updated.
GREAT SERVICE, FOOD, AND AMBIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Amazing food and service.
This used to be one of our favorite places in the summertime. The food quality has really declined. Beautiful setting. Subpar food
Outdoor garden is lovely. Service was great. Food was delicious. One person was really looking forward to the stuffed squid and found out after ordering that it was not available. Interesting since it was a Monday evening and the restaurant was not very busy.
Birthday dinner! We absolutely loved everything about La Storia!!!
The back patio is amazing and so beautiful, would highly recommend sitting back there!
Very good classic Italian.
Delicious meal, wonderful service, delightful atmosphere!
Food was good, but the service was sub-par. I guess you can expect that type of service with a place where you can order their food off Grubhub. We were outside where it was drizzling a tad and the servers and busboys couldn’t figure out how to open their own table umbrellas until one of the patrons had to help them. Meanwhile, one of the servers, who seemed to be the one of the few who were bright, was setting up umbrellas for his tables. Our server didn’t do anything. We were told that the people who got umbrellas were the ones who already got their food which wasn’t the case because some other couple wearing sweats in the place didn’t even get their drinks yet and they got an umbrella. (That brings me to another point; there needs to be a dress code for this place. Seriously. You shouldn’t be coming into a place like this and wear sweats. This isn’t the suburbs. It diminishes the brand, makes the place look trashy, and ruins the ambiance).
Food was great though.
We sat outside which was lovely and relaxing. Ordered the Branzino which was great as well as the cauliflower app. The endive salad not so much. Pretty bad actually since it was composed mostly of stalk rather than leaves.
I was a bit uncomfortable with our server. She didn’t smile and seemed to be put off by one of our dining partners. She would also reach in front of us to remove plates while we were talking. Not what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
Disappointed in this summer visit. Have had amazing meals during the cooler seasons, menu and service were off. Price value very off. work to do there.
Wonderful meal outdoors in their charming courtyard. We always order the meatball appetizer and they were excellent. Also enjoyed the burrata. The breaded pork chop and the chicken cacciatore were perfectly prepared, delicious.
The outdoor patio in back of the restaurant is delightful on a summer evening. Service was excellent. The appetizer portions are huge and the wine prices are very steep. The tiramisu is outstanding.
Sat outside in the back patio and loved the atmosphere, had a European feel.
The outdoor space is AMAZING.
Was it an off night? It was our anniversary and we were hoping for a special evening. The seating area was perfect. But then things went down hill. It was on the menus but they had no champagne. Then one glass of Prosecco was flat. They did give us another. Our meals were not very hot. We did think that the wait staff was over worked. We had to ask for pepper etc. The coffee was good. We hope it will be better for others.
Sat on the outdoor patio - delightful time. Service was wonderful! Everyone had a delicious meal and we were not rushed. Highly recommend.
We ate outside so the noise level was perfect.
The wait staff was very pleasant.
The new menu seemed a bit limited, and what we ordered was good, but not great.
The prices are high.
It had been 2 or 3 years since we'd been to La Storia & had terrific memories of our meals there. When another couple came in from the suburbs, we thought it would be great to return, being walking distance from home. We were so disappointed! Food & ambiance were fine. But service was incredibly lacking, which negatively influenced the entire evening - & there were very few tables seated, so really no excuse. Our table was watered at the outset - & never again. One in our party wasn't very hungry, so she ordered only the meatball app as her entree, with the Gorgonzola on the side. When the other 3 entrees arrived, hers did not. So we all waited for her meatballs to come before we started. Several minutes passed before we finally flagged down a server (we could not see ours) who said she would check. Meanwhile, the 3 of us were just waiting before we ate, out of politeness. A gentleman came over (we're thinking he must have been the manager on duty) & explained that the Gorgonzola note had not been noticed until the meatballs were done, so the Gorgonzola was included. They caught it & were repreparing the dish. This is understandable - except why didn't someone say something proactively to us so we could begin eating & this guest's expectations could be set properly? Instead, between 5 & 10 minutes passed & the next time we saw our server, it was to inquire if we wanted more drinks. We all ordered another round & it would have been nice if AT LEAST our friend waiting for her meal could have had her glass of wine comped. But we would never ask & it was never offered. These particular friends always request separate checks - they have for as long as we've known them. So the final straw was when there was a mix-up of receipts at the end of the meal. Honestly, what does this crew do during a busy service? As I mentioned, the food was good - but not good enough to come back.
They lost our online reservation so we started at a high top. We ordered a bottle of wine (the cheapest one they had) and an appetizer which costed $85 with tip. Finally we were seated. No one approached us for 45 minutes. Finally we asked for a waitress and they were completely surprised we needed one. 2 hours since arriving they brought one meal and asked if there was anything else for the table. They had forgotten the second meal. We ate separately because of the timing. Horrible experience- will not go back.
Perfect neighborhood gem with tasty food. Very nice ambience and excellent service .
Very very very slow service. Food was meh. Kind of expensive
VERY PRETTY. SERVICE AND FOOD. WERE GREAT!
Love this restaurant. Beautiful decor, and a lovely outdoor space. The food is delicious, and the service was great.
A wonderful evening on the patio
The service was poor. The food was not great.
We used to visit this restaurant & it was a wonderful experience all around. So very disappointed.
I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time. I did not even know that they were having a Grand Re-opening until I received an email stating that for 3 days they would be having special pricing of 50% off. Who could pass that up? Quite honestly, the value of the experience was worth the 50% off pricing. Perhaps with the Grand Re-opening, they are trying to get some things finalized both in terms of cooking and in terms of service.
My friend ordered the special steak and requested it to be cooked Medium. When she received the steak barely at a Medium Rare level she sent it back to be cooked more. No problem. It was a good sized steak and so it would clearly take several minutes to prepare it correctly. When the server came back with the steak, it was indeed cooked properly this time---but here is the odd part, half the steak was now missing! What started out as a good sized steak, turned into a small portion, with no mention of the missing part of the steak (the center piece). We did not complain again and just accepted the fact that what started out as a filet was now a petite filet. Oh well!
The pasta that I had was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary that you could definitely find elsewhere around the city.
All in all a decent meal, but with all the wonderful Italian restaurants in the city, this would not be a go-to spot, particularly at regular prices.
They just did a grand re-opening and went with two of my friends. The meatball appetizer was really good. The burrata came without any bread or crackers. Who wants to eat soft cheese by the spoon? That's right, no one. So we asked for bread and the bread was light, fluffy and delicious. That's where the good ends.
We ordered a strip steak and salmon tar tar for entrees. The steak was cooked perfectly, but had literally no seasoning on the steak or the veggies that accompanied the dish. There was also a ton of fat still attached to the steak that should have been removed. The quality of the salmon wasn't bad, but again, it lacked any flavor. There was no lemon, no salt, no acid of any sort except for a couple of capers. And lastly, DO NOT GET THE FRIED PASTRY DESSERT. It tasted like stinky curdled cheese foot in your mouth. It was gnarly. GNARLY. The olive oil cake was delicious. We spoke to the manager and he was very gracious and appreciated the feedback. The waitress was barely there. I'd wait until they iron out the kinks before going there. You'll thank me later. And for the love of god, do not order the fried cheese pastry dessert.
Good food but lots of mixups with the waiter who forgot two dishes
Awesome! Really great dinner all around.
Love this spot! Outdoor seating was so lovely...food was delicious...service very friendly!
