La Storia offers a setting for all occasions - whether you’re planning a date night for two or a gathering for 50.
Valentine's day special 2020 was really mediocre. I was actually irritated because initially I thought it was $110 per person when it was actually $110 per couple. Would have paid more for better food.
gnocchi was amazing, I would definitely come back to try other dishes
Cozy, love Evo’s service. Good was amazing. Great wine list.
Great food. Great service. Great experience.
Couldn’t have been better!
I was not impressed with La Storia, at least based on this first experience. It has been recommended by friends, and otherwise is rated highly. But it was lackluster to me. Our waiter was not "with it," in my opinion: he didn't seem attentive and didn't check up on us except to take an order or deliver the food or pour wine. There was confusion about one of the guest's entree and the bill was not adjusted for this. I ordered a salad and entree; both were delivered at the same time. The food itself was lackluster -- the descriptions on the menu were not matched by the actual food; flavours were not vibrant or interesting, portions were not consistent with the price.
I was going to use my right to give a lower tip, but a 20% service was added automatically because we were a group of eight.
There are many great restaurants in Chicago. I have many "go back" places; La Storia is not one of them.
There were six of us for dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had a lovely quiet table on the second floor, very nice. I had the lamb shank with lentils. The lentils were very good but the lamb was tough. My friend had the Seabass and it was delicious! Wish I had ordered that. Very stingy with the bread also. The service was fine, but we were served so quickly we didn’t really have time to relax and enjoy our wine and converse. Would probably not recommend although the experience was not bad.
with my daughter . very nice . food good . great wait staff
This was our second time dining here. We made a last minute Christmas Eve reservation. Our first time dining here was a couple years ago. The service was terrible. We decided to give it another try because the food was good and the atmosphere was very nice and our options were limited. However, this was our last visit. The waitress was beyond slow. We had to ask her several times for drinks. We asked the hostess for the specials and she went to get our waitress who had to go ask someone else because she forgot. We even complained to management and nothing was removed from our bill.they also do not make any menu alterations, like sautéed calamari instead of friend or swapping out a vegetable for another. There are so many restaurants in Chicago. We recommend dining elsewhere.
Elegant restaurant housed in a former residence. Went here on a Saturday night. Was busy but not overly loud so we could still have a conversation. The service was great and the food was excellent as well.
Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food.
In our neighborhood. The food is good and they have a reasonable wine selection. Service is usually excellent, but our server tonight was horrible. We’ll give another try.
La Storia is one of the best gems in the neighborhood!
The cauliflower side dish was flavorless, the lobster pasta dish had hardly any lobster and the meat pasta dish was OK for a basic Italian restaurant but not special enough for the price.
Disappointing evening. While the appetizers were ok, the main course pastas were gummy and one of them was inedible. To the management's credit, the pasta charges were removed from the bill.
We had a very pleasant experience. Our server was outstanding, and the food was quite good. Would definitely return.
Food was not great and certainly not as high as the ratings on line would indicate.
Eggplant Ravioli over drenched in mediocre red sauce. Veal chop in thick breaded coating that detracted rather than added. Pasta appetizers we ordered were OK but nothing special.
Party of 5 all had same opinion of their meals - fair at best and disappointing.
This is a sad story of a new chef (and maybe owners?) and a new menu taking the restaurant in a negative direction. This was once one of our favorite places to dine in the area. It had an interesting and well, executed menu with superb food and service. Sadly they recently replaced their chef and changed the menu, and not for the better. Food is now heavy handed, service is indifferent and they lost their Michelin recommended status. Our most recent meal (and most likely out last one here), was very disappointing.
We planned to stop in for drinks but stayed for dinner. It was rather early, 5:30 pm, and there was only one other diner in the dining room. So it was very quiet. The pasta bolognese and linguini with clams were both delicious. There was a nice selection of wines by the glass, but some were a but pricey. Overall it was a very nice evening with delicious food and good service.
Food was excellent and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the food, wine and dessert.
Went in Sat night with a party of 5. Overall experience was fair at BEST. Server was very nice, but aloof with service. Constantly asking for more water and pouring our own wine. Given appetizer sided plates to eat our family style main courses. Special risotto was one of the better dishes, but overall very fair for the rest of the dishes. In a town with so much amazing Italian I won't be returning and neither should you.
Very disappointed. I am Italian and food here was nowhere near expectations.
The pasta was good but the service was so slow and waitress was not attentive.
My sister and I came for the marathon special of which you could choose from a list of 4 dishes of pasta or risotto then got unlimited servings of whatever you chose for $22. Sounds too good to be true right? It was. I got the penne option with red sauce + the sauce was very sweet, my sister got the spinach pasta with chicken that was crispy.. yuck. Then the waiter took our plates away + asked if we wanted more so we said yes and weirdly he came back with our check so we paid and sat there waiting for our next dish. It’s partly our fault for not saying something soobwr but after 15 mins the waiter asked if he could get us anything else and we were dumbfounded.. yes? Our other dish we just ordered. Somehow he was not even informed of the special so he thought we were kidding? It took a while for him to come back to check in with us and we were 1 of 3 tables.. We eventually got our 2nd dish and it was not very good again but we waited so long now we were still very hungry. I wish we had a better experience but it seemed like the staff didn’t care to try at all since it was a slow monday night.
Seemed odd that they were out of the Chianti Classico by the glass at $13. The server offered a substitute wine without indicating that the price was $6 more.
Great food lovely room great service and certainly we will be back in the future soon.
Our server was very nice. We were surprised that the menu had summer food options (lots of seafood) and hadn't really transitioned to fall items (squash blossoms, pumpkin). They were out of the wine I ordered, but I did get to try a sample of a similar wine before confirming a switch to that one. The servings sizes were great. My favorite dish out of all of the one we tried was the Spinach Tagliatelle Bolognese. I would visit again if the menu was updated.
GREAT SERVICE, FOOD, AND AMBIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Amazing food and service.
This used to be one of our favorite places in the summertime. The food quality has really declined. Beautiful setting. Subpar food
Outdoor garden is lovely. Service was great. Food was delicious. One person was really looking forward to the stuffed squid and found out after ordering that it was not available. Interesting since it was a Monday evening and the restaurant was not very busy.
Birthday dinner! We absolutely loved everything about La Storia!!!
The back patio is amazing and so beautiful, would highly recommend sitting back there!
Very good classic Italian.
Delicious meal, wonderful service, delightful atmosphere!
Food was good, but the service was sub-par. I guess you can expect that type of service with a place where you can order their food off Grubhub. We were outside where it was drizzling a tad and the servers and busboys couldn’t figure out how to open their own table umbrellas until one of the patrons had to help them. Meanwhile, one of the servers, who seemed to be the one of the few who were bright, was setting up umbrellas for his tables. Our server didn’t do anything. We were told that the people who got umbrellas were the ones who already got their food which wasn’t the case because some other couple wearing sweats in the place didn’t even get their drinks yet and they got an umbrella. (That brings me to another point; there needs to be a dress code for this place. Seriously. You shouldn’t be coming into a place like this and wear sweats. This isn’t the suburbs. It diminishes the brand, makes the place look trashy, and ruins the ambiance).
Food was great though.
We sat outside which was lovely and relaxing. Ordered the Branzino which was great as well as the cauliflower app. The endive salad not so much. Pretty bad actually since it was composed mostly of stalk rather than leaves.
I was a bit uncomfortable with our server. She didn’t smile and seemed to be put off by one of our dining partners. She would also reach in front of us to remove plates while we were talking. Not what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
Disappointed in this summer visit. Have had amazing meals during the cooler seasons, menu and service were off. Price value very off. work to do there.
