We went here before seeing Hamilton (theater is very nearby) and both the food and cocktails were excellent. Service was friendly, helpful, fast. I’d definitely recommend to a friend.
Great place , amazing service and very delicious food
One of our favorite restaurants in New York. Our server, Liz is a superstar. We literally sit down and let’s her order whatever she thinks we should try. She hasn’t sent us a bad dish yet. The food is excellent and the drinks are strong. The real star is Liz. People like her make dining out a pleasure.
Happy hour oysters were great. Tasty and priced right. Fish ribs that everyone brags about were just alright. Octapus was pretty good. A tiny desert for $12 was K. I also find it amazing, that what they charge you on the bill and what the price on the menu are not the same. Yes, it's $3 or $4 difference, which most people will not complain about, and I didn't either. But it leaves sour taste in my mouth.
Quiet little downstairs place, interesting menu options, but a lovely experience.
The venue is very cosy, I almost missed the entrance. However, once inside we were greeted by warm and attentive staff. The food was well seasoned and very delicious and not very expensive Highly recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic food and service. Limited menu with specials which were very unique. Highly recommend.
Great food, warm comfortable atmosphere. Barbecued fish ribs were delicious and unique. They were very accommodating when we needed to arrive earlier than expected for our reservation.
We were a party of three and everyone was very happy with their meal. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient. We ordered a sample platter of three ceviche dishes which were a perfect start to the meal and ended with the flan. The grilled fish and octopus entrees were well prepared, tasty and filling. I wish our visit to NYC had been longer so we could have eaten at La Pulperia again.
Such a nice place!!! Great service and delicious food.
Great ambiance, excellent wait staff. The food was good, but I ordered the Mista, and it was one of the smallest plates I've had at a restaurant. And the 5$ apiece shrimp should be 10/12 size not 16/20. Overall my date and I did enjoy our pre show dinner.
Good food, but way too loud.
Don't be deceived by the exterior. The fish ribs - a house special - were one of the most unique dishes I've ever enjoyed. The spicy cocktails are also excellent.
It might not be the best place for a first date (where a bit more space and less noise help) but great for a second date or a meal before a show.
Our hotel recommended this restaurant. The menu is small, like the restaurant, but what they do, they do well. My husband had the fish ribs, a house specialty and I had grilled octopus. The bartender made a great pisco sour, transporting us back to Lima! They alone are worth a second visit, as was the marscapone flan for dessert. Staff were very good.
Food was excellent. We will definitely go back.
What an amazing surprise! The restaurant is small, cozy and intimate. We arrived early for dinner so it was not at all crowded, and we were able to receive ver concerned service. The food was amazing and creative. I ordered the monkfish. It was wrapped in Serrano ham , baked, placed upon a bed of carrot purée which in turn was on a spicy arugula puree. The combination of flavors was unexpected and amazing... the slight salty ness of the ham, sweetness of carrots and finally the peppery spice of the arugula! A masterpiece! My compliments to the chef. My husband had the black spaghetti with seafood in a spicy sauce that was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended! We will certainly return.
Terrific food. That's the high point. Service is good. But this is a neighborhood joint devoid of atmosphere or charm and it's noisier than LaGuardia. If I'm in the area I might come back at an off hour when you can hear yourself think. It's a shame because the food prep and presentation deserve a better "wrapper."
Definatley not worth the Price but our meals were decent. My steak was a bit tough but very well cooked (asked for Medium). Oysters were very fresh and the grilled octopus special was delicious! The burgers were on point too!
My cheese empanadas were not cooked 100% and being told thats how they were suppose to be was a little annoying - considering the dough was raw and the filling was cold. They did bring out another complimentary order that was cooked better, after they saw I didn’t eat mine - but they should have done that from the beginning.
Overall would go back for a date night of just drinks and appetizers because the ambiance is good and romantic. For dinner, very over priced.
I went to dinner with several out of town guests. The service staff was very attentive and accomodating, especially the management. Cocktails were excellent and the food was delivious. The restaurant is small but comfortable. I would be happy to return.
Had high expectations about this place, but it ended up being a Tourist trap. It has an overpriced menu.
Fantastic food and service. I’ll go back again. Victor, the hosts was very profesional and friendly he made our dining experience a joy. Thanks, Victor!
Excellent food and service
Try the fish ribs !
The food was delicious, but the service was so-so. Had to ask multiple times for lemon wedges for our water, and the check.
Love the bbq fish ribs with coconut milk rice. It was recommended by the waiter.
First time visit. However, I have dined at a few other restaurants on 46th (Restaurant Row). Glad we made the call to give La Pulperia a try. Service was very good, as was the ambiance. My date had an excellent black spaghetti, and I had one of the daily specials - soft shell crabs over risotto.
Nice job, and I'm hoping to go back the next time I'm in NYC.
Sunday drag brunch is so much fun! Great place for bottomless brunch, great food, and awesome show.
Highly recommend it! Mascarpone dessert was incredible. And the black ink spaghetti is delicious.
Food was great, the service was outstanding; Hector was very helpful, nice and super accomodating. The place is small so sitting was tight. We had a great time and loved the food.
If you enjoy seafood served in an innovative and delightful style than La Pulperia should be on your must visit list. The bite-sized Lobster Taquitos are delicious. My wife and I also enjoyed the grilled octopus special and the monkfish wrapped in serrano ham. Craft cocktails to try along with sangria and a well chosen wine list. Can be a bit noisy and cramped with a crowd.
Overall, our experience was good. Went after a Sunday matinee for Mother's Day. Hector, our waiter was very genial and professional. Mom had a fresh lime margarita and we had the crudo tasting as an appetizer. One minor thing was a piece of shell in the ceviche, pretty small but it was pointed out by her when eating. For the entree I had the hanger steak with coconut rice and the potato salad, she had the moqueca mixta. We both found the rice to be a bit undercooked and hard, as opposed to the fluffy texture of rice we're used to. The crostini which came with the stew was also too hard, making the concept of bread to sop up the stew a bit difficult. The steak was also under cooked as I asked for medium and it was rare in the middle portions. That being said, the flavors were good overall. For dessert we shared the marscapone flan. The passion fruit syrup was a bit too sweet, but it complement the richness of the flan well. Lastly, Hector was a gem and gave my mom a glass of champagne for Mother's Day, a nice touch that won bonus points with us both. Seeing as it was our first time, I would be willing to go again and see if the minor things improve before recommending to a friend. I did find the prices a bit high for the quality of the food, but given the location's proximity to the Theatre District, I wasn't surprised.
Interesting cuisine with lots of fresh fish and authentic flavors. Think citrus, tuna, jalapeño, cilantro...
Standard 47th St fare. Passable but not outstanding.
Oyster Happy Hour is amazing
SO much fun at drag brunch!!! Show was excellent, food was great, cocktails delightful, service was amazing. Don't miss this, you need to reserve in advance. Ritzy Bitz and Misty Mountains were the best!
The service is amazing and so is the food. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. Highly recommend it.
Very hospitable and friendly atmosphere and service. Good food and a fun experience!
The staff at La Pulperia was amazing! Everyone was so attentive to our needs at all times. The lobster taquitos were to die for, as well as the moqueca mixta! Their cocktails are also all so well executed. I was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely return!
Music was on but it was low enough not to interfere with conversation, loved that we could talk without shouting.
Service was fantastic. Very thoughtful and engaging wait staff. Constantly filling our water glass
Also, they pay attention to the online bookings, i noted we were celebrating a bday and they arrived with a delicious candle-lit custard to our table.
Perfect portion if your monitoring your portion sizes.
The entrees were $35- $38 each but were very good.
Loved the place and will be going back.
