As a regular customer we’ve come to expect delicious food with great variety and pleasant friendly service. La Pergola was quiet of course but as good as ever. 👍👏
The evening was so enjoyable. I give It A!!!!
Neighborhood gem. i crave their crispy half duck , ceaser salad, tartufo on a regular basis. my husband loves the sole francese with linguine. great staff and ambience.tables are well spaced.
We were welcomed like family. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we will continue to go back time and again.
Waiter service could use some improvement. For example, bread was served after being requested several times
The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, and it was quiet enough to talk in a normal voice.
Wonderful experience! Great quality in a lovely setting. Fantastic service. Beautiful dining room. And, at the same time, BYOB, so we got to bring our own wine. Really an exceptional evening!
Best Italian food in NJ - hands down. In fact, best Italian food I've ever had.
Very convenient for after the papermill playhouse performance-
We’ve always had a good experience here but the staff was simply overrun on this night. Took a very long time to open a bottle of wine then a long time to take our orders. The waiter brought the wrong entree for one in our party but we made due bc to reorder would have taken who knows how long. All our meals were good, just took way too long. Again, a very long time to bring the check. I think it was a very off night for them.
Family in town and off to Papermill. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. Nice evening.
Food and service was excellent. Would just suggest they mention the price of their specials so there are no surprises. We had an appetizer which was excellent but pricey; the table next to just was upset with an entree they felt very overpriced.
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend.
This would have been nice for a standard date night with my wife, but I expected more for a place recommended for Valentines Day. Average service and slightly above average food. I’m new to NJ but I have to imagine there’s better spots for a special occasion.
All what we had was perfectly done, salmon and lamb, excellent taste, gelatos was good. Both great service and food. Staff are very professional and the owner Mr. Al is very accommodating. Keep up the good work.
La Pergola is always great , we attended the Papermill theatre after. Veal parmesan served on wooden boards was delicious and an amazing surprise. We just happened to attend while La Pergola was celebrating their 10th anniversary with jazz music, complementary apps and champagne. Always love La Pergola , wishing them another highly successful 10, 20, 50 years
Overall a nice time. Have mixed feelings...Ordered clams appetizer which was VERY sandy. Mushroom soup was delicious. Short ribs with gnocchi was good and rack of lamb delicious. Seemed like servers were trying too hard and undoing what the first person did. Became annoying at times. I would have rated higher if service wasn't so disconnected.
Excellent as usual! Happy to help celebrate their 10 year anniversary
The food and service was amazing. I will be returning to this location.
We arrived for an 8 pm reservation, the dining room was packed. We were promptly seated. We ordered our appetizers and dinner around 8:30. Appetizers came out in a timely manner and food was great. Our entrees did not appear until after 10 pm. It was insane the wait - and during the wait at no time did someone come to tell us what was going on. Food at La Pergola is delicious and top notch but service was terrible this time around unfortunately- and nothing was comped to show any apology for the long wait. Disappointing
We had a reservation yet waited for a half hour for our table. It took a while for them to take our order once seated then it took over an hour for appetizers to come. Our entrees were delayed as well. Our dinner took 3 hours.
Excellent dinner before show at Papermill Playhouse.
Celebrating My Mother in Laws 90th Birthday
We have the lasagna Bolognese special, and salmon with spinach and lentils. Also Caesar salad and artichoke appetizer. Artichoke was just OK, but everything else was really excellent, as well as the service.
My friend wanted to celebrate a happy occasion with me and I suggested La Pergola. The food is always memorable and the staff couldn't be more attentive. You can always find new specials and additions to the menu. What a superb way to entice repeat customers. Kudos to the owners!
Very nice northern Italian restaurant in Millburn NJ with pretty decor and easy to carry on a conversation despite the restaurant having lots of patrons on this busy Friday night.
Staff is very attentive and restaurant is BYOB. Very many house specials which lots of variety in meat, pasta and fish entrees. Our party of 4 enjoyed 2 house specials and 2 off-the-menu pasta dishes which were delicious. Will definitely return & highly recommend.
Always great food and excellent service
We went to La Pergola on New Year's Eve. Walking in the restaurant was crowded and festive. Once we sat down the disappointment began. Service was non-existent and when a waiter finally came by he just asked if we were ready to order, not even a hello or happy new year, and certainly no smile. After that it was nearly impossible to get anyone to help you for the rest of the night. We were excited by the large menu, but each thing I asked for was sold out and so had to choose something I really didn't want. The food was fine, nothing special. The bill was special - $100 per person. Usually on New Year's Eve a price fixe comes with some extras - a few chocolates, whatever. Not here. Nothing more that what would be on their usual menu at twice the price. Not going back!!
Awful. Food was tasteless, salad lettuce was not properly dried. Service was non existent and both gruff and unfriendly. Food was basically thrown at us without having cleared the table.
The New Years champagne was left for us to self serve.
Possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had.
First time I ever did not leave a tip.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent; the staff is always courteous and professional, and the ambience is beautiful. Dining at La Pergola is always a first class experience.
Excellent!! All of us thoroughly enjoyed everything about our experience. We decided that La Pergola will be our new go to!!! Happy New Year!!!
Outstanding food, attentive and friendly service, relaxing classic ambiance. Will return soon
Whenever we see a show at Paper Mill Playhouse, we always come here for dinner. It is just a short trip down the hill!
Everything we order is delicious and the owners are husband and wife team. The wife is the chef and the husband is the host. What a team!
The staff is friendly and attentive - never disappoints!!
Always wonderful. Delicious eggplant rolls Toni, fried calamari, crispy roast duck, sole Francese with linguini. And the special rib eye steak served on a wooden carving board with roasted potatoes and asparagus, yum! The only thing was it was huge-for 2-3 people. We had to take it home. Amazing the next day though...
Our second trip here not nearly as good as the first. Christmas Eve dinner but our table often forgotten by servers. Meals arrived at different times and had to ask repeatedly for bread, wine etc. It was disappointing and not inexpensive.
Every time we dine at La Pergola it’s always a treat and an exceptional experience. This is a neighborhood gem with fabulously luscious homemade gourmet food and lovely service. Highly recommend!
This place is great! The food was fantastic. We sat at an excellent table. Unfortunately, we went on the Saturday before Christmas and there were a lot of large parties (we were just 2) and I guess, not enough trained staff, so our service was terrible! I mean no one approaching us to take our orders for at least 20-minutes. Then the waiter forgot to tell us the specials.
Then we waited another 20-minutes after being given the desert menu. I wished the young man refilling water, wine and delivering menus was my waiter because he was good. So overall, go, the food and value really are in favor of a visit. The service may stink.
Great food and service. It’s also byob! Highly recommend
The space is beautiful, the service is attentive, and the food is amazing. On this visit the Endive salad, burrata, butternut squash ravioli and the eggplant lasagna were absolutely delicious. Oh, and the best fried zucchini I have ever had. I am looking forward to my next visit!
Went to dinner before a show at Papermill. We were short on time and were able to have an appetizer and dinner and made it to the show on time. The service was excellent and the food was awesome. We shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer and also shared chicken rollatini and butternut squash ravioli. Everything was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back.
