Kona Grill - Oakbrook
It was Great!
Great food and a wonderful atmosphere
Good and varied selection to choose from. We shared a variety of types of sushi and it was all very very good! Have eaten here several times and never been disappointed!
Happy hour is great. Good flavorful food with good size portions. Great value. Love the patio decor which provides a great relaxing environment.
Good menu with nice variety. Excellent service. We all enjoyed our food.
Only problem was the music was too loud for conversation even though there were only 2 of us.
I stopped to talk to the manager as we had terrible service the waitress that we had took 20 minutes to get to the table our food about 50 and we were celebrating a special birthday. She did not come back to ask for any drinks that we wanted and did not apologize for any delay. The manager was not very helpful. We will not come back as we had been previous patrons.
Happy hour is great! Food is great! Patio seating is great!
We got seated under a fan and I got quite chilled. Asked to have vent or fan turned down and they were unable to comply. Otherwise a great dining experience
Attentive service and good Happy Hour prices in the bar and patio areas.
Kona Grill never disappoints! We went on Sunday (happy hour all day) and it was fantastic. Great food, drinks and ambiance. I highly recommend the sushi! The Rainbow Roll was especially good.
Date with spouse
I really liked the place. Saw the pictures online and decided to try it out. It was on a Sunday night, it wasn't crowded at all. Most people were sitting outside, but we were indoors. Very nice personnel, courteous waitress, good drinks and good food. Will definitely come back.
Always good food and service
Terrible service. Will never go back. There are way too many other great restaurants in the area to go to leaving no reason to waste our time and money on this one. It doesn’t matter how good the food is, if the service sucks, it ruins the entire dining experience.
Though not busy our server took about ten minutes to finally come over. There were quite a few flies on the glass separating the kitchen from the dining area. Had I noticed them earlier I wouldn’t have stayed.
We ordered the spicy shrimp tempura and it was very delicious. Just the right amount of spice. If you like spice, the Picasso roll has it. Very good and has a nice kick. The peppered tuna tataki was another great roll. Service was great. Our server Aaron is personable and provided us with a great idea of the menu and what to order. Look forward to coming back again. Thanks Aaron for making the evening a good one.
Experience was fine. Service was good as well as food.
I dine at Kona 1-2 per week. I was hosting out of town guests. Made a reservation. Upon arrival there were no clean tables outside so we were seated in the dining room. There were no diners in the dining room. None!
The waiter came with menues and I inquired about the happy hour specials and was told they do not extend to the dining room.
So we asked to be seated outside then.
He said we needed to go back to the hostess.
We went to her and she directed us to seat ourselves. We went to the patio where a busboy was clearing a table. We asked to sit at that table and he said, “It is not my job”
We told him the hostess said we could sit anywhere on the patio.
So we went back to the hostess—now for the third time, it was 90 degrees out there,
By the time she took us back to the table on the patio another customer had seayed himself at the table. So we walked around the patio to the next available.
So 20 minutes after the reservation we finally sat down. Waited too long to place the order. Very slow service for a packed patio and empty dining room. As I am in this restaurant weekly I know the difference in service. Today was not up to par and I was embarrassed that I put my guests through the experience.
Received a gift card for my birthday, so my husband, my daughter, and I went out to dinner. All of the food was delicious. I wouldn’t rush back to this restaurant but I was very pleased with my meal!
Food was good and the raw fish was fresh.
Wait time was incredibly long - and no one was there.
Music was incredibly loud.
Mike was absolutely fantastic and we will request him again for sure! He made my birthday dinner extra special!
We ordered from the happy hour menu, which was good value (50% off), decent sized starter portions. Food quality was very good. At full price, I would find it hard to recommend Kona Grill, but if you can hit the happy hour periods, its a good option. Nice atmosphere with mix of families and couples when we visited early evening.
Everything was wonderful! Such a fun restaurant to have a celebration!
The Happy Hour food prices are great with many $5 options. Since Happy Hour is all day Sunday, that seems to be the best time to eat here. The restaurant must have been short-handed this past Sunday since the service took a long time. However, the food was good and the price was nice.
We were there for the Happy Hour food menu - great choices and amazing quality of food and for a very good price.
We had a party of 5. The server was very short with us. I think he was upset that we ordered happy hour food and drinks. When we were finished eating it took 20 minutes to get our check to us. It was my sister’s birthday and we were offended by the way we were treated.
Half price happy hour from 9-11pm includes several sushi rolls. Food and wine are delicious. The patio area is great for warmer weather dining!
There used to be a level of excellence here. It's not a bad place, it's just lost it's Wow factor.
Enjoyed the sushi. My kids were happy too with their chicken tenders.
Food quality was poor. Our order took forever to arrive. Waiter didn’t check back with us after our food was delivered. We won’t be back.
Warm and muggy inside. Not comfortable to sit and leisurely enjoy ourselves for the night. Also it’s already very dimly lit inside and one of the big overhead hanging lights above us was out, making it very dark. Food was good, but probably won’t be back anytime soon because of other circumstance.
The AC was not great. We dined in the dining room and it was loud and the service was slow. The food was really good and that made up for a bunch of the negative. But it was too warm inside.
Great happy hour specials
Waiter rolled his eyes when I gave him a coupon for a free appetizer
I had 2 sushi rolls, they were ok but very poor presentation
All night long I was swatting at little flies or some flying bug
I have been here many times before and really like their unique menu, not so much this past visit
Very quiet for a friday night although it was the 5th of July. Food was good and quick. Drinks were good.
Interesting evening. Waitress was nice kid however issue with bill from another group kept her away from table for loooooong time. Why they didn’t have someone take care of us in place was concerning. THEN our gift cards would not “work” manager said it was the “system”. We
Had $75 in cards, Bill was $56. She said you could pay with credit card or..... and I said I’ll just give you cards. She accepted rather than comping part of meal and leaving us with $25 to return. She also knew delay issues with waitress combined with delay as they tried to use cards, our 1 hour meal (we estimated) turned into nearly two hours. Poor customer service skills and failure for manager to empathize with the evening. Just bad business. Foot was good, we won’t go back.
Love the patio setting with great food options and new specials each time we sit
It is misleading that the happy hour specials can only be taken advantage of sitting in the bar/patio. No where on Kona's restaurant does it say that.
