Khan's of Kensington
A popular casual Indian dining room, serving delicious tandoor roasts, curries and biryanis and is a walk away from the Royal Albert Hall, The Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert museums; an ideal venue to meet friends, watch the world go by or simply enjoy exceptional cuisine for lunch and dinner. The ambience is relaxed, pleasant, and its bijou dining room has a nice intimate feel.
Food was fine but majority of our party found it to mild. Used to curries far more spicy. If you like mild food you'll be fine, if your used to Northern curries I'd give it a miss.
Best meals we had in London. We went back on our last night. Too bad we can’t do take away from the States!!
Excellent food and service! Prices are very reasonable. We are headed back!
Great little Indian restaurant. Very friendly staff and tasty food. Some of the best onion bahji's we've eaten. Good price too. Would recommend.
Very tradition Indian food and good service. Waiter did have good recommendation and we enjoyed.
Nice dinner, good quality and good value especially for Kensington. Service was okay but staff forgot a number of dishes and seemed confused
Overall would definitely go again!
I went to Khan’s after many years still remembering the food and experience I had but unfortunately it wasn’t the same and I think the standard has dropped and the taste needs to improve
We had gone there after making a reservation through open table, but the place decided not to honor our reservations (made roughly 50 minutes prior to going there). We did inform that open table showed open slots, so we selected the first available open slot. To that, the manager of the place decided to give us a lecture around how famous his place is and how people make reservations 3 months in advance to come over to his place. The key thing to note: The place wasn't full when we were there. two tables had just opened up and there was no one in the wait except us. So later we decided to not argue and take the higher ground and asked him when would the next open table be available, and he decided to give us a time slot that was two hours later -- all this time, Opentable showed availability and we could see open tables in the restaurant. We were a party of 5 with two little kids (toddlers), and decided the wait wasn't worth it, especially given treatment we had received. So we just left the place and went to another restaurant round the corner from this one - moti mahal. I would 100% recommend going to moti mahal. Amazing service - really nice people, spent their time in greating us, talking to us, playing with our kids, etc. (note the restaurant wasn't empty, but they made sure they treated every guest really well and gave them the attention needed). The food at moti mahal was really really good too!
The few other things we got to see at Khans of Kensington - this place was highly unorganized. no one to greet you, you have to walk through the entire restaurant to find someone that might seat you on a table. They have tried to fit as many tables as possible into a really tiny place. So really hard to navigate in the restaurant. The place doesn't seem to have any temperature control systems. It was super hot inside. Overall i would not recommend this place. We literally selected this place given the reviews, but clearly didn't have a great experience.
Perfect neighborhood location, great food, local feel. Not a touristy trap.
Myself and my family had a delicious meal at Khan's. The food was spectacular, in fact the Lamb Passanda was the best that I have tasted. Everything was a good portion size, presented beautifully and was delicious.
We did not have to wait long for our meals and the servers were all friendly. The manager even made a effort to come and see how we enjoyed the meal. I will definitely be back.
Nice food not too spicy, great for the kids. Service too slow, need to improve. Restaurant very dated especially in such a vibrant part of London
The food is decent, but not spectacular.
The service is friendly, but not warm or prompt.
The place is clean, but not cozy.
The naan bread is wonderful, but the other dishes are hit or miss.
It's not a bad dinner, not at all, but it's no different from other Indian restaurant we've visited in American cities.
Great Indian food - especially after a long days walking. Their rendition of England’s national dish, butter chicken, was especially good.
Exceptional meal, attention to detail and great service!
The biryani is the must try!
Very attentive, welcoming and friendly staff. The food is flavorful and you’ve got lots of options that you can choose from. They were great at adjusting dishes to vegan ones
Good for the location
Food good but not outstanding.
Yes ... very enjoyable and the food was excellent ... I thought the lighting was a bit too bright to be honest, and there were too very big groups which were very loud ... so its not exactly"intimate" but overall we had an excellent meal and a very good time.
Notmuch flavour - very watered down even by London stamdards. Service quite slow.
We loved it, and we will definitely come back to this place
Inventive and well executed modern twist on curry house classics. Friendly service and, for the area, good value. Restaurant itself is a bit sparse and could be gussied up however it absolutely does what it says on the tin.
No take away of food. Very strange
Food was just average, not very impressive.
The food was great! All 6 of us were excited and will definitely go back. The prices were also great. I will am happy to recommend this to anyone.
The restaurant was recommended by a friend, the service was very good and we were seated immediately, but the food did not meet our expectations, would have liked more distinctive spices in each dish.
Food is fab, but service can be a little slow at busy times. There are too many staff for this small restaurant making it difficult for the waiters to negotiate the rather cramped tables. However, the staff are pleasant and the food is great. Booking advised especially at weekends.
Food was excellent, tasty and well cooked and the staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. Few dishes on the lunch menu but still extensive enough to satisfy all in our party of six.
I dine frequently at Khans, each time is an amazing experience with delicious food and lovely service. Thank you for keeping up your high standards.
All dirhes are very good!
Staff are kindful.
We had a good dinner after work.
If you want lamb, have the lamb chops which were good. Chicken curry was basically the sauce made in advance and boiled chicken added to it. So for tourists which this place is aimed at and for people who have not experienced a ‘real’ Indian restaurant then it’s ok. But personally I was disappointed. Don’t order the Sagg it was dry and slightly burnt also Bombay aloo was not to my standard. Tandoori lamb chops paratha nann bread was all very nice !
Waited half hour before we were asked for a drink order. Nice enough, but nothing special.
Nice food and service, no draft beer though and can get loud, but enjoyable.
I recently visited Khans for lunch following their renovation and the place looks better, brighter and more current.
I tried okra fries which were perfectly crispy and butter chicken with keema naan which was delicious and authentic. There seem to be a few new dishes which I will come back to try
Everything was spot on, perfect food and great service.
Some of the best Indian foood I have had. Friendly staff that was able to cater to our groups varied spice level requests.
Just a wonderful restaurant, with the best service and delicious food. We met some old time friends and had a fantastic reunion. The servers made the perfect recommendations, and they were extremely accommodating. I will most certainly be going back to this restaurant again and again and again.
I really enjoyed my main dish of Paneer Wala. The plate was stunningly presented. The spinach and paneer were aromatic and delightfully spicy. The waiter was willing to substitute the lemon rice for the saffron rice which normally comes with the dish. The lemon rice was tangy and original. I ended the meal with sliced fresh Kesar mangoes from India and masala tea. It was a lovely meal in a quiet comfortable setting.
Bad Food and expensive , I don’t like it and I don’t come anthore time
The food was alright, not spicy!
Overall we were happy dining there.
Good curry, not afraid to be spicy. Starters average, service good , but decor looking very tired. In need of a spruce up.
Very good, authentic food. I have enjoyed the quiet enough ambience which facilitate having a conversation during the meal.
However, I've been a bit disappointed by the fact that the restaurant haven't accepted the Gourmet Society card despite the fact they are registered on the Gourmet Society site.
