What Insiders Are Saying
Plenty of new restaurants are good, but few are actually memorable. Kali leave its mark.
Sensational food and service
An absolutely lovely experience. Delectable and gorgeous food. Perfect service...attentive and gracious. Great for either a special occasion dinner or just a casual bite out. Epitome of excellent California cuisine.
Absolutely lovely. Service was extraordinary!
Food was fantastic - well deserving of its one Michelin :) Had the tasting menu, ribeye and gelato were standouts!
Great ambience with good lighting. Unable to do chefs tasting menu due to earlier closure on Sundays (9pm vs 10pm usually) and our reservation was at 815/830.
It was excellent!
Innovative fresh seasonal California cuisine at it’s finest!!
We were seated half an hour late to our table, but the staff were lovely and tried their best, however the food definitely didn’t limit e up to the hype. Sorry kali..
Everything was incredible. There were four of us and we ordered 6 appetizers, four cocktails, 2 entrees, 3 desserts and it was all perfection. Service was wonderful as well. Attentive but not intrusive (shout out to Aaron)
We will be back.
Service here is a 10+!
Food is fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. I can't wait to go back.
Our server Jessica was amazing and the food was amazing!
Booked this reservation for my birthday. They called 24 hours in advance to confirm. When my party arrived on time, they told us our table would be ready in a minute, and this was not true. They told us 20 more minutes 4 times, and we sat an hour and a half after my reservation time. Food was very good. The chef is excellent. The host needs to be fired and the restaurant needs to hire someone with some restaurant management experience.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in LA and I knew they would get a Michelin star!!! Congratulations!!!
Omedetou Chef Kevin!!
The food was next level. I loved everything about the meal.
I love everything about Kali. Food, wine and service are fantastic, and it’s easy to see why they were awarded a Michelin Star. Well deserved.
If there was one, nit-picky thing I’d change, I’d likely dim the lights just a bit. The space is lovely, and the service is warm and friendly, I just wonder how it might look with the lights just slightly dimmer. But that’s totally subjective. Objectively- Kali fires on all cylinders, and is one of the most consistently enjoyable restaurants I’ve even been to.
Food is great, this is food created with real care and attention. There are no corners cut in the preparation at Kali. Wonderful flavors in every dish. A great Los Angeles treasure.
I have known about Kali for a little while but never had a chance to stop by for lunch or dinner while working at Paramount.
I was pleased to hear that Chef Kevjn and his team were awarded 1 Michelin Star this week so my wife and I decided to stop by for lunch today.
The food is local, crisp and fresh and definitely inspired by a mix of old European techniques with bold New American flavors.
We shared a fantastic Berry & Tomato salad with Burrata.
My wife had the Red Snapper Lunch Entrée while I chose Mary’s Chicken Breast. Amazing food!
We will be back for dinner!
The waiter especially was extraordinary
The food and service at Kali are absolutely first class. Superb meals and friendly, professional staff, like hosts welcoming you into their home. The food is seasonal, locally sourced and organic where possible. We're mostly vegetarian and the sea urchin pasta was a highlight. Highly highly recommend and look forward to going back.
Deana was outstanding and engaging and delightful.
A real find. Waiter knowledge of food and wine was amazing.
Price is too high, food was soso
Love it always the best
Remarkable in every way. The Chef's tasting menu is one of the best in the city, as is the wine service & the selection. This is a must visit for those who are serious about food and wine. My fourth visit and it is getting better each time.
The food at Kali is incredible. I come here for lunch and dinner. It's never really crowded, but always amazing.
Had the eight course chefs menu, each course was presented beautifully and delicious. The black cod was done just right, the Liberty Farm duck breast was tender, flavor full and with just the right amount of crunch . The panna cotta dessert was lovely with multiple layers of flavor, texture great end to the meal. I was full at the end of the meal, great value for the quality, taste and the overall experience. Highly recommended.
Kali was the best meal we've had, ever. We got the chef's menu with the wine pairing and it did not let us down. Be warned though, it's a lot of food so come hungry!
Superb dining h experience from excellent menu to friendly, attentive service
Drew recommended a fantastic Sicilian wine that complemented the dry-aged ribeye AND fresh pastas! We will be back!!
All I can say is WOW! Kali is the most amazing restaurant I have been to outside French Laundry and even then they are running neck and neck. Casual, yet hip atmosphere. Food is outstanding and the service is impeccable. Every time we go to Kali we try something different and are stunned at the genius of flavors and simplicity of the menu. Good for any occasion, even lunch, Monday-Friday. A++++
My second time here. The crudo has a light refreshing taste- perfect to whet our appetite. We had the sea urchin pasta and the rockfish. Both were delicious especially with the Lanson champagne ! For dessert we ordered the meringue gelato and the bone marrow flan. The former was light and the ideal dish to end our meal. The latter was both savory and sweet- if you like savory in your dessert - you would enjoy this. Thank you chef for serving us fresh, seasonal and mostly organic dishes!
Very delicious chef's tasting menu. Chef Adrian was great...I would recommend all my friends to Kali
This place is a hidden gem. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were so impressed with both the service and the food. Our favorites were the risotto and the asparagus. Coming back soon!
Phenomenal & well worth the expense.
I'm surprised by my experience with the food at Kali considering all the rave reviews all over the internet but unfortunately the food just did not do anything for me. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but everything we had from the oysters to the farmers salad to the uni pasta was completely one note. Presentation was beautiful, but taste-wise nothing wow-d me. There was not enough acidity or brightness or flavor to make any of the dishes we ordered stand out. The yellowtail crudo needed much more acidity, the handmade pastas paled in comparison to many other handmade pastas in the city. The most unique item we tried was the merengue ice cream, but not so amazing that I'd come back for it. Unfortunately this was a big miss for me.
Black barley risotto is very interesting and unusual. Local bass is to die for. Keep in mind: “small” portions of pasta are still rather big.
It wasn't Kosher, but, it was the best Passover dinner...EVER! LOVE this restaurant! LOVE the food, the staff and the ambience. Always the right call.
The meal was great, and the host was great but our waitress was not very friendly or attentive.
Three of us dined at Kali for the first time and we all loved it. Very comfortable, casually elegant, and the service was exceptional - every server as well as the manager checked on us constantly. And the food - wow! Presentation was lovely, and the quality was topnotch. Favorite dishes were the Black Barley Risotto, Yellowtail Crudo, and the Striped Bass, and omigod the rolls were amazing. Sadly, we live in Orange County so we can't get back there often, but we definitely will be back as soon as we can.
It was a special Passover meal night so presumably explains the truly deafening noise. We hurried out I couldn’t stand it. Food was delicious, so need to return on a normal night and see how it is.
