Please note that we begin taking reservations 7 days in advance starting at midnight online and at 11 a.m. over the phone. If you are booking a table after a Broadway show, please make a note in your reservation which show you are coming from to better estimate your arrival time. Parties of 6 or more should call the restaurant directly.
Due to the high volume of reservations we receive for pre- and post-theater, we can only guarantee a table for a maximum of two hours. If you would like more time, please contact the restaurant directly to make your reservation.
Not our first time.
everything was great---until the lights went out. Not your fault of course. But the highlight of the evening was going to be seeing Hamilton.....
Everything was wonderful! Great post show place!
When the plate was delivered, I swore that I could not eat it all (ate late because we went after the theater). I cleaned my plate. The food was that good. Hope to be in NYC again soon and will definitely eat at Joe Allen's again.
Classic post theatre spot.
Very pleasant adress in New York close to Times Square & Belvedere Hotel
Birthday dinner for my husband. They brought out a piece of apple pie with a candle just like I asked. Amazing! Thank you so very much
Great post theatre spot, excellent food and great ambiance. Greta Cosmopolitan
Lovely meal - wonderful ambiance - great evening -
Good pre-theater meal.
I have been coming to Joe Allen's since 1980 and was so happy to return. It had been years since I was last there. I love the ambiance and the theatre mood. I was saddened to see more tables added thus making the restaurant very noisy and crowded. I know it is NYC but please....prices we're high as expected. It is good to put the menu on line. No one is then surprised. Joe Allen's will always be my favorite restaurant in New York. Thank you!
Nice people, always enjoyable for pre-show gathering.
Great they always take care of me and my wife Great service and nice people Its the only restaurant I go to when in Manhattan
A great place to go after the theater. A truly iconic New York restaurant located on Restaurant Row. My son and I went after seeing Hamilton. The food and service were top notch! I highly recommend it!
Food was delicious and the portions were generous. Waiter was very attentive.
Before Broadway show. Great service. Good food. Some portions on the small side, but don’t need huge pre-theater meal.
My favorite theater haunt.
Our service was wonderful and our food was delicious the fresh fruit was seeet and mouth watering to the taste. My table of choice is made available each time I reserve at the restaurant.
Always our favorite place to eat before and after the theatre. Love the menu and the service. It’s a special place. Shhhhh don’t tell anyone. ❤️
We love this place for its consistent food quality at a reasonable piece. We ate lightly this time: roasted cauliflower and a watermelon, cucumber and feta salad. Perfect
We had a fantastic time there after the theater and the manager that night was amazing even though we were late for our reservation. I love Joe Allen’s.
Pre play dinner. Great location, loved the atmosphere. Service was very good. Limited menu but the food was great. Loved it, better make reservations.
These folks have service down to a science. Warm, funny and professional. The food was great, and I appreciated sharing the experience with a friend who’d never been there and loved it.
Went on a quiet Monday at noon. Excellent liver as usual, have never had any other meat item on the menu. Our nice waiter took many photos for a reunion of people from Memphis, who were actors together in Memphis in the 1970’s. Our future reunions will be there again.
I've loved Joe Allen, and eaten there, for 45 years--in New York and LA. My most recent visit just may just be my last. It was creepy. Some strange guy at the bar (in the bar photo) dressed for who-knows-what was holding court. Every waiter, the hostess, others came by multiple times to suck up to him. Our waiter went to the guy several times, rubbed his back, and said, "You're awfully good to me." It was too weird for words.
When I made the reservation I was offered the opportunity to redeem points for a gift card there but then they refused to accept it. Why would opentable offer that option at reservation when/if they didn’t accept it?
What a delightful time we had. I appreciated the pace of the meal and did not have to worry about getting to our show on time. The good was delicious. The prices were lowered than we expected for such a fine New York restaurant.
Joe Allen is a must after a Broadway show! We have been coming here when we go to New York for years. We never miss. They truly deliver on food, service, and ambiance. You never know who you’ll run into here after a show...
The food was fine but the menu choice is quite limiting. The biggest issue was the mains arrived before I had finished my starter. The waiter pushed my starter plate to one side to allow for the main course plates and didn’t even say a word and walked off.
Also the booking slots were very limiting and didn’t reflect what was happening in the restaurant.
Hands down my favorite place to dine in NY -- because everyone there who works to make it that way are pure gold. Thanks for the great food, drink and for creating the easiest and most fun hang ever -- even when it's a really long hang! -- with such grace, sweet humor and consideration. The absolute BEST!
When my husband and I visit New York, we always visit Joe Allen, our favorite theater district bistro. The food is delicious, the waiters are friendly and efficient, and we love the theatrical ambience. Yesterday we ate Cajun chicken sandwiches and fries preceded by gazpacho. All excellent. Don’t miss this superb dining establishment on Restaurant Row. We’ve been coming since the 70s and always leave smiling! (Great for after-theater drinks too. You might see theater royalty at the bar!)
This is one of our most favorite places to eat. Everytime we are in the city we go.❤️❤️❤️
Love the experience every time we go! Thanks for the great service
Service is always excellent, and food delicious. Fan for 30 years. Only recommendation: don't rush folks out that aren't attending a show.
It was a great time for our family. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any celebrities that night but the food was fantastic and the ambiance was nice.
Joe Allen came highly recommended and exceeded our expectations. We seriously misjudged our time and arrived with only 45 minutes before we would have to leave for a show. Clearly, a problem of our making. Well, everyone could not have been more understanding and "made it happen". Food arrived quickly which gave us breathing time to relax and enjoy some very delicious food, and, make it to the theater with time to spare. Great people.
It was an amazing restaurant. Our server was amazing and the food was great.
Been there many times, and one of my favorite restaurants, but this time lost the attention of the waiter, who otherwise was very good and nice, but got distracted when it was time for the check. Lunch is a very relaxed atmosphere, especially compared to pre or post theatre.
Whenever I go to the theatre alone, my dinner is a cheeseburger and a bourbon Old Fashioned at the bar. Who would go anywhere else?
Another favorite place to dine when in the City for a Matinee. Its great to make the reservation with Open Table as I have often had trouble setting it up on the phone. The food is always good and the room and the decor are wonderful for any theatre lover. I alway love to show this spot off to visitors as well.
Consistently great! Loved the new Trout Dish. The only issue I have at times is getting in.
