Jewel by Tom Schaudel
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food
Went for an anniversary diner, told it was an anniversary prior but no acknowledgement.
Table wasn’t ready when we arrived, but restaurant was not crowded.
Service was good, staff was pleasant. Wasn’t overly impressed
Must have been an off night I have been to Jewel quite a few times and it has been good. With reservations, we were seated quickly but after 15 mins of not getting service (outside of water) I went to the hostess and asked her to find a waiter to help. The service was very poor and the food was not outstanding as I expect it to be for the prices. Something changed, needs to be fixed.
Excellent food, service and decor. Jewel is perfect place for Business meeting, Date night or celebration. In the warm weather it offers great outdoor seating
The food was superb & the service was excellent.
Lobster price fix... excellent live music! Ate outside. Beautiful summer night!
The food, service and ambiance at Jewel is consistently outstanding.
Always a great experience.
Great food friendly service
My wife and I went to Jewel for our 14 years wedding anniversary. reservation was seamless and restaurant was well decorated. Food was good, nice portion, and delicious. Service was OK, a server kept came to our table to take away our plates while we were still working on our appetizers. it was a bit uncomfortable and annoying. however, overall it was nice and my wife loved the food and our time together.
The food was excellent. Scallops, duck, and sushi appetizer. Only problem was the kitchen made a few mistakes. Brought out wrong appetizer for my friends and forgot to provide the roasted potatoes. Waitress was great. She brought out a side dish order for the table but we were halfway through the dinner by the time the kitchen caught up. But the meal itself was terrific as was the service
Went with friends on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised o find they were having a 3 course lobster special $42.95. Each corse was delicious, perfectly prepared and I might add very large. I would recommend Jewel with or without a “special”. The restaurant is a really nice venue to spend an evening at and weather permitting, the outdoor patio is dressed with pretty lights as well.
Great place for a romantic dinner. Excellent service and very good food.
It was a magical it was a magical evening. Thanks for the special visit from me Schaudel!! Wonderful ! My goal now is to get a photo with him in everyone of his restaurant!! Thank you
Never disappoints. Another quality meal! One of my favorites places. Well done.
Went for a birthday dinner. Chilean Sea Base was incredible. Short rib was very dry. Service was poor. Asked about fries being gluten free in the escalator. No report from.our waitress. Fries not ordered but on the check. Told manager it was her birthday. Brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle. $8.00. Will not be back. Oh well.
Firstly, we have dined here on a number of occasions, for regular dining and special occasions. I lived in Manhattan much of my life, and my first review of Jewel compared it to the likes of Per Se and Jean George.
This was a different experience, which I hope can help Jewel to regain its qualities I generally enjoy.
Food, great! Ambiance stylish, and a bit whimsical, great. Service sometimes spotty. Management this evening, poor.
We were seated this Tuesday night, a party of seven, without delay, great. Placed our orders. Appetizers, excellent, on time. After finishing appetizers, waited about a half hour, and asked waitress about delay in entree. Standard answer that they would be out shortly. After about 1 hour from when order was placed, manager came over to tell me that the order had been placed with the kitchen nearly an hour prior and entrees coming momentarily. She had exact time stamp and explained that one hour to receive appetizer and entree was acceptable. “So, are we all ok here!?” Okay, She felt vindicated. She won! What did she win? A dissatisfied regular customer whom she had put in their place and now felt uncomfortable? A customer less likely to book Jewel for the next evening out. A less likely referral for new customers? Congratulations on being “right!” Customer is always right? Not at Jewel on a Tuesday night!
Very pleased with the appetizers. Lots of choices. The four of us tried the salmon tataki, tuna poke, and mushroom tortellini. All were very good. Main entrees were also very good. I had the skirt steak. I asked for it to be medium cooked, and it was. My daughter ordered the sea bass which was excellent, particularly the black rice. Husband enjoyed the squid ink pasta. Bad marks for dessert. We shared the ice cream sandwich and the banana cream pie in a jar. Did not like either. The ice cream sandwich consisted of a half inch of ice cream sandwiched between two slices of almond cake. Not enough ice cream, and the cake tasted like a Passover macaroon. The banana cream pie was just this mushy, banana flavored pudding with whipped cream. Not good.
Six meals...all delicious! Great atmosphere! Service was sketchy...would have liked a more attentive waitress. Missed having another round of drinks.
Food and ambiance were both excellent. Service was outstanding, from being greeted upon entering, right through to paying the check. Prices a little high for the area, but in line with what I thought was fair for food, service, bar tab and ambiance.
The food was great and the service was outstanding. Best crab cake ever!
Food was very good, with all courses well thought out and prepared. Service was outstanding. Really attentive, great outlook, and understood the menu well. Took care of requests efficiently and gave us the right amount of space and time. I have dined here many times and will do so again.
The food and service were both great. Only disappointment was the Apple Tart with so-called gelato. The crust was mushy and it looked like it was just slopped on the plate with a scope of vanilla ice cream. Try a different dessert.
This is the second time we had this waiter . She is trying to be nice , but you can feel the attitude .
They have the lobster special on Fridays for the summer
Definitely worth having

It is one of our favorite restaurants. Never had a bad meal, from the appetizers to the desserts. The ambiance is very attractive. It definitely grabs your attention.
Excellent. Oysters Rockefeller were great sea bass and bronzino done perfectlyZ chocolate bag desert absolutely super. Fun place will return.
There was a party taking place on the patio and every time the door opened, the smell of cigars came inside. We had to hurry and get our check because I started to feel I’ll. You should not allow cigar smoking on the patios of the restaurant
enjoyed a good meal and the service was excellent Restaurant is a little noisy
Exceptional food and service. Ambience is great as well. Will go again.
Went for my son’s birthday. Very interesting & different menu but not overly exotic. Quality of food very high. We all had different items on the menu & everyone was pleased. Tortellone with mushroom appetizer was excellent as were the duck wings & octopus. Tuna entree very nice, branzino & chicken parmigiana very good as well. Desserts were great & quite large. Better to share. A little pricey but worth it.
Absolutely fantastic food. The menu was diverse with interesting dishes that were incredibly tasty and well prepared without being overly spicy. Everything was incredible - cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Soups and salads excellent. The veal chop was great as were the Fisk dishes and the sweet mashed with banana was excellent. We were not going to get dessert but the entrees were so good we had to try them and they did not disappoint. If you are in the area do not skip Jewel. It is a real gem.
I must say I was very disappointed in my last experience at Jewel. We were there to celebrate my Grad School graduation and the meal was ok. I bypassed several restaurants in Westchester and Nassau to have lunch at Jewel. In the past my meal’s were very good but this time it was lack luster. First, I had the grilled octopus which was ok because i felt the temperature was off. Next, my son had the Squid Ink Pasta dish and found hair in it. Which the manager exchanged quickly but that was not something you would expect from this type off establishment. The manager came over and apologized and said he would comp our meal but when we received the bill the only thing that was taken off was the Pasta dish. Third my husband had the bread pudding dessert which was dry and not the same as he had in the past. My server was not very attentive however the lady assisting her was better at making sure we were taken care of than she was. Overall, I must say that I regret going to Jewel to celebrate my special occasion. Management need to pay more attention to its lunch menu and service.
We sat at our table after being seated and had no server come to our table for at least 20 min and it required us to inquire before we actually got a server. We also had the salad, “spring with a mustard dressing, I think” that was good but had no greens. We had been there 2 nights before and had a great meal. Go figure!
Beautiful place but if it’s late afternoon/early evening don’t take a round booth by the windows. The sun was in our eyes for most of our dinner and they don’t have shades. Steak was awesome but the short ribs were dry.
Great food and service. Will definitely be back again! Best octopus ever.
