We had a very nice meal: loved the salmon bruscetta!
Everything was very good.
One note: the red wine was served slightly warmer than it should have been, suggesting storage at higher than desirable temperatures. Though the wine itself was good, I would expect Jamie's to watch for such an important detail.
The service was very slow, it was Mothers' Day, so we expected that. However, my partner and his mother received plates with yorkshire puddings that were still frozen! When we complained, the staff took the entire plates away, and (eventually once everyone else has finished eating) returned with the original plates, with the food on them now stone cold, but with new yorkshire puds! My partner left feeling VERY hungry.
Poor food, poor service, very disappointing!
Good food and service
Shambles. Arrive to be told kitchen closes in 30 mins.
Shambles. Multiple menus and no idea.
Shambles. All food arrived at weird times. Main courses before starters.
Shambles. Wine had run out.
Shambles. Zero atmosphere.
Shambles. No wonder the chain is reporting closures. There’s zero love for the brand. The customer. The experience.
The food is actually pretty good.
But everything else? Shambles.
Good service. Authentic Italian food that ‘s not too heavy.
Decent vino. Some round tables would be more sociable.
We had a good evening at Jamie‘s. Generally the meals & service were good.
However, when one of us ordered the gluten-free burger, we were very surprised to receive a deconstructed hamburger without the bun! Not having been warned, this was disappointing! Another meal would have been requested.
Staff was apologetic and offered a kind apology, but this was quite unprofessional in the first place. The gluten free bun was basically the reason for the order and no replacement was offered.
To be fair, the rest of the order was as requested and tasty, but the hamburger issue put a damper on the evening.
Nice post cinema pasta
Service was very slow at times but we had time and the food was excellent.
This restaurant was buzzy, vibrant ang noisy, not a place for a romantic meal, but great for groups and those wanting a lively atmosphere.
Jamie's Italian has a very good varied menu, we had the sharing platter. The waitress suggested we had for 3 people, although we were a 4, as the portions were large. She was spot on. There was plenty for us to share. I had seafood pasta for mains, which was tasty and again good portion size. We all enjoyed the food, good quality and a fair price.
My only criticism was that when we arrived for a pre dinner drink, the bar area is small and the service slow. Otherwise I would highly recommend for a night out.
First time at Jamie's in Guildfird. Booked on line mentioning it was my husband's birthday and he was very excited(!), but no one took any notice, so not sure why they asked if it was a special occasion visit! Lovely decor and friendly service. However, children's portions are hysterically small! When the sausage in a roll and burgers appeared I actually snorted with laughter! They were smaller than my hand with five undercooked crinkled lumps! Adult food good but not outstanding, puddings were, however, delicious!! I know it's ITALIAN so kids food like sausages and burgers a pain to cook, but don't put it on menu if it's silly size (in my opinion) other opinions may differ!
Only observation was that the centre aisle of round tables were very close together upstairs.
The service was much slower than usual, though it was not busy when we arrived. The bread order came without grissini which we had to ask for and no longer contained the variety of breads previously offered, the food though tasting good was less well presented than on previous occasions and we waited 15 minutes for a glass of wine. No longer an obvious choice for a good meal.
Came to Jamie's Italian on New Years eve with my partner, had a lovely meal and was great value for the quality, the waitress was lovely and sevice was very quick would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was both tasty and very fresh. Service was quirky but very friendly, the restaurant definitely carries through the Jamie Oliver experience.
Disappointed with the food. The squid and mussel pasta was far too salty, and contained about 3 small pieces of squid, the mussel was mostly shells. The prawn linguini was not bad - but given that the main courses were essentially just pasta they were expensive. The sweets seemed to be just taken from the cold cabinet . The poachecd pear pavlova was not really a a pavlova at all and the poached pears had more the texture. of tinned pears.
It might also be a good idea to do a spell check on the menus written on the blackboards- Appel for presumably Apple and vegatarian for vegetarian - careless, and maybe reflecting a broader attitude to the food preparation.
What a pleasant surprise - a chain restaurant that gave very individual service! Not only was the service great, the food was too. All of this at a good price. In particular the serving staff were very friendly, fast and efficient. Well done Jamie's at Guildford!
We always look forward to dining at Jamie's Italian in Guildford. The menu choices are exciting and varied and the service is slick and unobtrusive. Great value and a great night out. Highly recommended.
This place is totally fine. It's a little noisy, but the service is good and the wine is lovely. I had a burger, which was ok - they didn't ask about cooking - and my friend had the prawn linguine which was very small. Good for a catch with a friend, not so great for a first date.
I regret we did not enjoy our experience in Jamie's. Every single table was full of families with young children and it was not the relaxed grown up dining experience we were hoping for. There should be a warning that adults should not be allowed to dine there or book unless they have under 10's with them. I had a crab risotto which was beautifully explained to me by our waiter and sounded delicious, just a shame the chef didn't know how to prepare the meal. Very disappointing.
