Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez Francois
Chef Jacques Haeringer
We were fortunate to eat in the garden under an umbrella. The atmosphere was lovely. Service fantastic. Food delicious. I had mussels as appetizer, salmon with dill sauce, and plum tarte.
The food and ambiance was as good as always but the service was really not at their normal level. Our table appeared to be the only one our server had in doors and the rest were outside. This means our server was never around and she was slow to take our order and then the Maitre'D got our wine for us. Clearly if the outdoors is the preferred option due to lovely weather, the wait staff should not be split between inside and out.
This is our favorite restaurant. It's a slice of a European vacation for one day or night.
Excellent meal on the beautiful patio area overlooking the garden. Can’t wait to go back!
Always great. Food and service.
Delightful sitting outside enjoying cocktails and a wonderful dinner.
This review is more about the service we received and less about the food, which was as delicious as usual. My wife and I are regulars and this was our 2-year-old daughter's third time visiting Jacques' Brasserie. It was my wife's birthday, so we were celebrating by dining "al fresco" under the newly installed red canopy when a strong summer storm swiftly came rolling through. It was exciting, with the thunder and lightning and driving rain, but the water found its way to us so we relocated to an inside table. The frequenters dining next to us helped us with our bags and the waiters helped bring in our glasses of wine and bread plates. We resumed dinner in the lively atmosphere of our fellow patrons. All in all, we were extremely pleased with our dining experience and, because of the unexpected weather, the waitstaff made the extra effort to ensure this was a treat; it will not be soon forgotten. Bon appetite!
I went to Jacques’Brasserie for the second time in 4 years to celebrate some good news I received on August 1st. My friend had to cancel on me, and I was 10 minutes late (but I called 25 minutes ahead of time to notify I was running 10 minutes late).
It was a great experience regardless of being alone.
Fabulous garlic bread and trout.
Great food. Always solid French bistro menu. Service and greeting is top notch. We have been there multiple times and have never been disappointed. We sat outside under the new covered awning and it couldn’t be better. What a place and it’s understandably crowded every night
You can read my long list of reviews for possibly my favorite restaurant. I love Jacques' Brasserie. It is downstairs at L'Auberge Chez Francois. It is a lovely, cozy restaurant that has a beautiful bar. I make sure that I don't rush anything when I'm at Jacques'. I want to enjoy it and take my time. On this visit, we brought our dear friend from Louisiana. He comes from a French family so we were excited to bring him "downstairs". He has been to L'Auberge on another visit but we wanted him to get the Jacques' Brasserie experience. Just like us, he loved the garlic toast and cottage cheese spread. He started with a roquefort salad, I started with the roquefort tart. I was very excited to find out they had the pea soup that evening. I love it so much. It is a beautiful soup, creamy and smooth. I could easily have this soup any time of the year as well as the lentil soup. Amazing soups. Both my husband and friend got the Lobster Thermidor which is on the menus on Friday nights. It is rich and elegant. A lobster that is poached in butter then put back in the shell with cheese and sauce then broiled. It is sweet. I always have a bite of my husbands. To me it taste like sweet langostinos. Fresh vegetables from the garden accompany the lobster. I always get my own plate of veggies. They are so delicious especially the carrots. We all got raspberry soufflé's to end our meal. If you get a mixed drink, try the Sage Cape Cod. My husband loves them. I love everyone at Jacques'. Chef Jacques and Carol are amazing people who care about their patrons and thank them. Danny is amazing. Danny knows exactly what we eat, drink and where we like to sit. He is one of the kindest people too. There is nothing like Jacques' in the area. I highly recommend it as well as L'Auberge Chez Francois. You will go back again and soon become a regular.
We always enjoy this restaurant... We choose it for several of our special occasions, food and service are excellent!!!
We've been going here for years. It's a beautiful venue, with great food. Just a wonderful place for a special lunch or dinner. The service is excellent.
As always experiencing chez Francois is a delight. Starting with the greeting upon entering finishing the meal with their soufflé makes for a wonderful evening
Every time I have visited Jacques', the service and food have been excellent. I don't know the name of the Maitre d who works in Jacques', but he has been there every time I've gone and he has always been wonderful.
I've written many reviews for Jacques'. Always special and always delicious
This is a fabulous restaurant that is attached to one of the truly outstanding restaurants and a Washington DC area landmark.
Always a wonderful evening on the patio at Jacques’!
It's been many many years since we been to L'Auberge, and I have been wanting to try the Brasserie. It did not disappoint! We picked the perfect evening, beautiful weather. Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable. We'll be back again very soon!
Patio dining at its best.
Always a wonderful meal! Great service and wonderful ambiance.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our "Date Night" at Jacques' Brasserie recently. It was our second time dining there and we were thrilled that the greeting when we walked in, dining service and food were all just as wonderful as the first time we dined there. We really like this cozy restaurant!
There's nothing better on a summer day--or any day, for that matter--than to approach L'Auberge Chez Francois at the end of a beautiful drive through Great Falls. You're suddenly transported to another world, one in which gardens are perfect and the ambience is French. I introduced two (of three) friends to the restaurant yesterday; they were suitable impressed and vowed to return. Driven indoors by the heat, we enjoyed brunch in Jacques' Brasserie, where at 11:30 a.m. we were the only customers. An hour later the room was full, and the hustle and bustle made conversation difficult, so it pays to go early. My omelet was packed with mushrooms, and my friends loved their mussels and raved about the fries that accompanied them. We couldn't resist dessert, knowing that the special Peach Melba--when have you last seen that on a menu?--would include fruit that was perfectly poached. To our delight, a complimentary dessert with a candle was served, to celebrate our reunion of friends. A stroll through the gardens completed a fun brunch--then it was back to the real world, with memories that will last.
My husband and I got a bottle of wine off the recommended list and the tenderloin entree which were both amazing ! Despite the noise level we still love going to this place for a nice date night out.
Great restaurant! Excellent food and service. Always an enjoyable evening.
Good service, good food.
Room was noisy making it hard to talk. Tables very close together. Service was haphazard and inattentive. Had to ask for a wine list and had to wait too long for the final bill. Food was average at best. One of us had the seafood pasta. Pasta was fine and homemade but the scallops were over cooked and the dish was seasoned with too much Parmesan and garlic. My dinner mate had steak frites which was over cooked and poorly sliced. Wines were fine. The appetizer charcuterie, which we shared, was fine but not exciting.
Our server was not up to par. Asked us to order before we barely sat down. He was so inattentive the bus person served us two courses usually the service is fabulous. He was also very hard to understand. Everything else was fine but a bit too much bread I g on the soft shell crab. We there frequently
First time at Jacques although I’ve dined at the main restaurant about 6 times. My wife and I were both underwhelmed. My seafood pasta was just ok as was her rainbow trout. And the waiter was perfunctory, just doing his job with not enough attention to us. Disappointing since the main restaurant has been a favorite for over 20 years for special occasions. I hope my experience was just an aberration as I live the place.
We decided to go to Jacques' Brasserie for our anniversary. It turned out to be a great decision. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful and up to the occasion. We shared the smoked salmon plate and ceasar salad, and then had the boulabase and beef for main courses, followed by dessert and complimentary champaign (thank to Danny). We strongly recommend Jacques' Brasserie to others.
Delicious food and wonderful, attentive and professional service—as always! Just wish the Brasserie was more spacious.
Service is wonderful here. It is a great place to meet friends as the staff make you feel as if you are a valued guest in their home.
We always enjoy the food and service, but this time we did reserve for the brasserie. The server did not understand english and did mistake our drink and more importantly our food. We told our server that we are sharing a dish then he brought two of the same dish. When we showed this to the manager he did not charge two dish , which was great. Never experienced this mess up at L'auberge. Most probably the server was new....
Jacques outside on a moderate summer day is memorable. We sat out in an area between his beautiful vegetable gardens and the Brasserie. It was mid afternoon and we could still get the brunch menu which has lots of interesting choices. Summer also means fresh vegetables from that garden so make sure to try a salad. Jacques was out and about busy making his guests feel welcome which adds to the ambience. It is worth a drive to eat up at Chez, or downstairs at the more casual Jacques. The food is authentic country French and always good. His staff are attentive and personal.
Spending a sunny sunday afternoon having lu nch outside on the beautiful patio of Jacques' Brasserie is a delight. Good food, good wines, and wonderful ambience.
Lovely brunch. Ambiance, food, service -- all first rate
Good food in a nice atmosphere (a bit noisy on a Saturday night with several large groups in the small room) with pleasant, unobtrusive (and a tiny bit unpolished) service. Nice outdoor area too. I had salmon with bearnaise, cooked perfectly. Husband raved about his tournedos. Ate too much bread but it was irresistible! All in all a delightful evening, wish we lived closer to go more often.
Outstanding service and food.
