Always an enjoyable meal here. Wait staff was attentive and friendly.

Excellent crab cakes, ribs, and steak along with yummy bread.

Drinks were slow being served, the weight staff was slow and didn’t check in. My medium rare steak was well done along with my buddy’s and no one came to check with us so we could tell them.

Although prices seem high, the portions are large. The wait staff was cordial, friendly, efficient. (An "outstanding" wasn't high enough!) We brought a friend of ours for the first time. He was impressed as well.

Great experience and great food. This is one my new go to places.

We were seated right away outside but they didn’t have menus printed. After 15 minutes of no one coming to our table, I asked a waiter and he handed me one crumpled paper menu (obviously used) to share for 4 people and gave us water and took our drink order. I finally went inside and they said they were still printing them. I asked them to go back and please get some because I knew they’d been printing for at least 15 minutes. They came out with a 1 inch stack. The waiter did not take our order until 30 minutes after we were seated (I was checking my watch, so this is not an exaggeration). We barely saw him on the floor and didn’t even get refills for those 30 minutes. Meanwhile, 3 tables in the tented area that were seated after us already had their food by the time the waiter took our order.

Our food arrived and everything was good, except my father asked for his hamburger medium rare and it was definitely cooked through/dry. The other meals were good. By the time we were done, our waiter was talking at a table with another waiter for over 10 minutes despite our trying to get his attention to order dessert, we had told him we were celebrating a birthday. Finally we just got the bill and left, no dessert, no nothing.

Normally, I would just chalk it up to being short-staffed due to Covid etc, but all the other tables were getting good service. This was the first time I was able to get my elderly parents out of the house in over a year, and it was a very mediocre experience due 100% to the waiter we had, so it was very disappointing and a very sad birthday celebration.

I’d like to add that I’ve been to J.Gilbert’s 100s of times (was our bi-weekly brunch for many years) and always had a good experience, but this visit really ruined it for us. I will go back, but not as regularly as I did pre-Covid.

They have set up outdoor dining due to Covid so it was a relaxed setting.
Always love the filet and the salmon.

While not quite back to its pre-pandemic level, Gilbert's is still my preferred place to eat in McLean

Kyra was an incredible waitress. The food was amazing, definitely a great place to spend my birthday dinner.

We enjoy our time being there, next time will sit outside nice set up.

Solid service; delicious filet mignon & shrimp. Sat outside, which made a pleasant spring evening, with a relaxed atmosphere.

I ordered a fillet mignon and asked him to bring it rare.
The first few bites seemed pink but not quite as rare as I would like and when I got to the center there was no juice at all which should be the case with a rare steak. Therefore, on my first fret to this restaurant I was disappointed. I expect errors and restaurants that do not specialize in state but as this one does and I made a point of asking It be served rare it should’ve had a cool center not a warm one. This is a $37 error that I don’t need an airport was disappointed. I don’t understand how a steakhouse doesn’t know that rare in Maines rare not medium rare not pink Center but read and cool inside.

Have eaten here many times and like the place a lot! Sat outside in their "tent" on a warm day when the sides should have been rolled up. Was WAY too hot in there and the one waitress that was servicing the tent are (and maybe inside?) was pretty overwhelmed

Good was good and the service was nice. I was expecting a more upscale restaurant and that wasn’t the case. If you’re looking for good food without the ambience, go to J Gilberts.

JGilberts is a hidden treasure in McLean, VA. Amazing food and great environment. We go there all the time!

Made last minute reservation on Easter. Was happy to get a reservation outside. The staff was awesome and got lucky it was a beautiful night.

We had wonderful customer service provided by Monia (?). She is an excellent asset to your establishment. Friendly, courteous, and very accommodating. We enjoyed our Easter Brunch at Gilbert's ... but we do miss the Sunday Brunch Buffet. Hope it will be available soon. Thank you so much, from my entire family!

Ate there for Easter brunch. Food was outstanding as usual. A bit pricey but very good.

Great Easter Day experience Joan was our server and she was great. My wife Kandi and I really love the food and will enjoy the ambiance once we can return to indoor eating.

The ambiance was good, service was great, but for the expectation of going to a steakhouse and seafood.... it rates low.

Food temperature was tepid, not seasoned well, descriptions definitely did not match the outcome. Again, while a good restaurant for ambiance and convenience however, the food ranked below average.

Sat outside on a glorious day. Yes, it was a tent in the parking lot, but they did the best they could. We were the only people there, so it was a nice ambience. The service was terrific. Calamari and pork chops were both excellent. I would go back!

We had a lovely server that made the night enjoyable. The food was good, but it didn’t stand out as a unique or special meal. This is a reliably good restaurant.

Our waiter was not very attentive. We had to ask other helpers for extra drinks. No offer of additional breads My wife’s potato came to the table cold. Her steak was perfect. I had the halibut and was delicious.
Did not make me want to come back.

Tonight’s dinner was perfect. The food and service was exceptional. I recommend the shrimp Durango and the lamb chops.

We had a wonderful lunch at j Gilbert’s. They were so accommodating to our two small children and our server was fabulous!

Food was delicious had to send baked potato and spinach back cold but was returned hot, salmon outstanding

The food we had was mediocre for the prices. They also brought out the wrong kids meal late. They went back and then brought the kids meal out as we were getting ready to leave. We didn't want it at that point. I really like JGs, I think we just caught them on an off day.
