J&G Steakhouse Scottsdale at The Phoenician
First time to J & G. Overall just average food nothing that stood out that would bring me back. I honestly have had better tasting food at Capital Grill and Preston's. The prices are basically the same. Service was extremely slow over 2 hours for dinner. UHH The views of the city were beautiful and very clean looking facility. Nothing wowed me to come back again!
Food was great and service was excellent
The chopped salad and corn ravioli were amazing. The bartender was friendly and so was our server. Our entire meal was very good.
We had several of the fish dishes and they were really tasty and of good quality. The drinks wete good as well. My only complaint is that the restaurant was freezing cold. I don't understand why most restaurants do this. You come in from excessive heat and they have it turn down to 60ﾟ or something and you can't stand it. I practically feel like I have to wear Winter clothes to go out to dinner in the summer here. Our server was quite helpful and efficient. I have no complaints about the place except next time I think I will bring a parka.
We asked for no mussels on our seafood app. and to be replaced with oysters. We did not get the extra oysters. We said something our waitress. When she cam back she explained to us that someone in the kitchen said they had given us extra oyster's. Not true! We both ordered filets. One was to be med and the other med rare. They both came out med well. The bus boy cam over and asked if I would like to have another drink (Bacardi and diet), I said yes. He came back with a coke. I can't have soda unless it's diet.
I was not pleased with our experience. The waitress was very nice. I will not recommend J & G to my friends. For what you're charging the prices are to high. When your prices are what they are then your customers expect a bit more.
Everything was great, from the view to the food to the service. Top notch!!!
The service and food was deserving of a 5 star rating! I have never been disappointed coming to dine here!
Beautiful location and the service was very good. The dinner rolls that began the meal were good and the desserts that ended the meal were excellent. The problem was what was served between. We ordered the three course meal. I ordered the watermelon gazpacho, not very tasty. Companion had the charred corn ravioli, extremely salty. A very long wait before the entrees arrived. We both ordered the flat iron steaks. These were, without a doubt, the worst steaks that I have ever had. The steak knives provided had a difficult time cutting through them. I managed to finally cut four bite size pieces, one of which I had to spit out. I gave up at that point and looked at companion's plate. What a mess. She had worked very hard and hadn't been able to cut through much of it. Server offered to cook us some fillets, but didn't want another long wait. We ate our desserts and left. Cannot recommend this restaurant. One star for ambience.
It is a wonderful experience with great atmosphere and impeccable service! Great night!
We were hugely disappointed. Meat over cooked with no flavor, environment too loud and poor service. We won’t return.
Our experience was outstanding from the moment we entered until we left. The staff was very friendly, humorous, fast, efficient and worked hard at satisfying our every need.
Very good food. We found it a little to dark and had problems reading the menus.
My father-in-law who has travelled the world said the Dover sole was the best he’s ever tasted.
Every steak was cooked to everyone’s requests.
Very happy Scottish family
We had a Caesar salad, a crab cake, and a halibut entree. Of course the food was fresh and cooked properly, however the flavoring wasn’t inspiring and bold. The pairings were average.
Service was great. Walked in the door and was treated very well. Nice music playing in the back ground and a beautiful view of the city from the patio.
J&g brisket burger was amazing!
I’ll be back for seconds.
Terrific view and not as pricey as you might expect
Steak was well done instead of medium. Sent it back but my food did not come back until my companion was finished 20 minutes later. By that time I did not want to eat alone. If he had waited for my meal to arrive his dinner would have been cold. Ruined our evening out.
We were celebrating our anniversary and we high expectations of this restaurant the food was okay but our server was slow and she appeared to have a poor attitude times between courses was slow
There was management going around speaking to customers but this one went to every table spoke to customers but never came to ours seamed to pay more attention to a table of females ! One manager did come to us and at that time everything was good but it went downhill from there.
We wanted to finish wit an Irish coffee our server said she could do that but we wanted Baileys in ours she served these up but they were cold and no cream on top we drew that to her attention so we asked for the bill she went got the bill and left the Irish coffees on the bill we said we are not paying for cold coffee she took the bill away and came back with an adjusted bill threw it on the table and walked off I said to my wife that was just rude so I said I am going to pay at the reception so we went up to the desk and then the rude manager came over we gave him $200 and I said the waitress we had had a bad attitude he just looked at the $200 vouchers and said okay you are good to go no apology nothing !!
We also noticed during our meal that a table behind us was also having issues !
Just a waste of $200 and a rude Server and Manager
Never Again at this place.
We get better service at Flemings
KkCelebrating one year of exclusive dating. It was by far, the best food date for both of us.
I am surprised I don’t come here more. The ambiance was awesome. View is amazing. Service was great. Leaned toward the over attentive but prefer that to being ignored. I had the tasting menu which I highly recommend. The chocolate cake was great. My friends ordered the sorbet which I would stay clear of. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.
Took my wife to J&G Steakhouse for our 20th Anniversary. Had a great time! Ambience is wonderful and food was excellent!
Amy and the rest of the wait staff are wonderful and SO much fun. The food is very tasty and cooked to perfection. The couple extra perks brought out to make the evening extra special for my son and I was a very nice touch and extremely thoughtful. And then, of course, there’s the view. Just beautiful at sunset. It’s the off season so is not quite so busy right now. I highly recommend this steakhouse for an upscale, yet not stuffy, fun night out.
If you’re ever in Scottsdale Arizona you must have dinner here. We loved all our choices especially the Bison prime rib
We were expecting more from J&G. There are so many superb steakhouses in Phoenix/Scottsdale. This does not measure up. Disorganized service from the hostess to the server. Seemed like a lack of training and management oversight. Steaks were very good, no complaints there. We had to look for an alternative server to order a bottle of wine as ours was harried and busy elsewhere. Wine list could do with more options under $100. Huge disparity in Cabs from a few under $100 to a jump to $150 +. With so much competition in fine steakhouses J&G really needs to tighten up.
Went there to celebrate our friends upcoming wedding. It started off well. Appetizers were good, we got seafood platters. After that service went down the drain. Took over an hour to get our entrees. A couple of the steaks were over cooked. Didn’t even get an apology. We were there over 3 hours to have dinner. So disappointed. They ruined our plans and what was suppose to be a great night. I don’t think I’ll go back. Spend your money somewhere else.
I came been back for the oregano / chili lobster. I have never had lobster with seasoning before and it was fantastic. Good sized lobster and worth the money!
Our dinner was good. Service was outstanding. Our table had a beautiful view. This made our birthday celebration even more special. Thanks J&G Steakhouse…
We had a lovely dinner this evening... the view was amazing, service and food were excellent!
Amazing service ambience and view was nice as well . The food was fast fresh and taste great. They showed a lot of value to the customers and for my wife birthday thanks again J&G Steakhouse we will be back again.
I’ve had better steak for a fraction of the cost that they charge here. The potato described as “big as a boat” and big enough to share was disappointing. Did not seem very fresh and was undersized for two to share. The asparagus was excellent. The chocolate molten cake was “ok”, I’ve had better on the cruise ships. The waitress although nice enough seemed to be trying too hard to impress. All on all, the dinner was nice but certainly not worth the cost. Would not recommend or return to this restaurant
Everything was outstanding except the service; I definitely expected better at this price point.
The service, and specifically our waiter Jeff, was excellent. Food was mixed. Dover Sole was wonderful. New York Peppercorn steak was cooked to order (Medium), but some parts seemed a bit tough. Filet was the same. Chocolate sorbet was excellent. But overall, enjoyed our visit.
The summer special was wonderful! Excellent food and service!
Awesome! Nice experience!
We waited forever for our entrees. When we questioned, we were told the kitchen was backed up. Really, the restaurant was only 1/3 full. Filets were over cooked & placed on a plate with 3 peppers rolling around. Ridiculous for this price point.
J&G Steakhouse was by far one of the best meals we’ve shared together. We visited the Scottsdale area for our 2 year anniversary and couldn’t have been happier with our night. We got a hand written Happy Anniversary card, a window seat with an amazing view, and an anniversary dessert. It is on the pricey side but we were prepared and happy to pay for the excellent meal. Thanks so much for a memorable night. Our waiter was Zachary, I believe, he was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. Couldn’t be happier.
Waitress Amy did a wonderful job treating my friend with a birthday surprise. We will be coming back.
We had a wonderful dining experience at J&G. We were celebrating our daughter’s 22nd birthday, and the staff couldn’t of been more friendly and accommodating. Ask for Amy, she is a wonderful server and has a great personality. The food is great, ambience perfect. Enjoy when you want a great meal or special occasion.
Very attention and great service.
Excellent restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Ambience was fantastic, with a great view. Service was not rushed, and all servers worked as a team and were attentive to the table without being asked. Food was fantastic, and loved the gazpacho. Wine is a bit pricey, but very extensive list. One of the best experiences we have had dining in Scottsdale.
It was my husbands birthday!!! Wonderful from start to finish
