Ivar's Acres of Clams
Original features of the Pier including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant were restored. Enjoy expansive views of the Puget Sound, Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3. If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outdoor patio. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay.
Our chefs create award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world famous original recipes. Dine on wild Alaskan salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaskan King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams, weathervane scallops just to name a few.
Been a few years since I ate there, much improvement in layout - still miss it a bit as I remembered it, especially the "Acres of Clams" poem on menu/placemats.
The grilled halibut was amazing! Steak salad was delish, and the grilled prawns were tasty as well. We had a reservation, but were initially told we had to wait a few minutes for our table, even though they weren't that busy. Once we were seated, it was quite a bit before we were actually waited on too. Once we ordered it didn't take too long for the food to come out though.
The clams, salmon and halibut were cooked to perfection and the clam chowder was our favorite food item. Jason, our server, was knowledgeable about the menu and history of Ivar's. The free creme brulee for our anniversary was excellent as well!
Lunch was terrific, wonderful crab / parm spread on terrific baguette followed by simply grilled halibut with Portobello mushrooms - could not have been better. Terrific view of the harbor on a crisp day... nothing could have been better. Terrific server as well as wonderful food - always a good combination. Not the first time there and we will I'm sure return.
Best clam chowder and had an incredibly delicious crab and goat cheese dip that was to die for. Highly recommend when in Seattle!
The seven of us had a great meal and with a last minute request even brought a complimentary birthday dessert with a candle. Many of us had the grilled halibut which was delicious.
As always great food!
Historic downtown seafood restaurant on the water. Our dinner was outstanding, especially the coconut curry mussels and the salmon with huckleberry vinaigrette. Highly recommended!
Not good enough for the prices. Clam Chowder is. Awesome though.
A Seattle must. Always outstanding food and service.
We absolutely love this place!! So convenient on Pier 54. The food is the best! King crab, lobster, fish, and especially my favorite smoked salmon chowder!!!! If you've never tried this chowder, order a cup or the sampler, it'll knock yer socks off!!
We wanted to eat outside. We made an Open Table reservation 15minutes ahead, and walked to the restaurant. Although our table wasn't ready early, it was ready on time. Oddly, they handed us a restaurant buzzer when we checked in, but it never went off; I heard them calling my name. All of us loved our meals; two had halibut and chips, one had a bowl of chowder and a shrimp appetizer. I had the chowder sampler and the truffle oil halibut. The sampler was interesting because I almost always just have their famous claim chowder, but this time I started with a spicy salmon and corn chowder (spicy in chowderland), then had their fish chowder which is somewhat thicker than their famous claim chowder. The halibut I had was excellent, and without asking the waiter put the truffle oil off to the side, which I appreciated to keep the fish unswamped. In all, it was an excellent end of summer meal eating on the water looking out on the boat traffic and enjoying the city.
Great food, SLOW service. Drinks ordered well before entrees but were delivered with entrees. Enormous amount of time after we were done before check was brought, also took forever once the check got there to come by & pick up. Otherwise great experience, just lots of time waiting for the waiter.
Had been to Ivars in the past, so I thought it would be a good choice. Arrived at around 8, with many open tables, so not busy - got seated, and then forgotten about. Waitress and waiters were busing tables instead of helping customers. Finally we asked if possibly we could get some water and bread while waiting. Steamed clams and clam pasta was in a a very sweet sauce instead of butter and garlicky like we were used to. For pasta they do not use linguini. Waitress bought us dessert to make up for poor service. This is the only disservice they have heard.
Everything was perfect and the accommodated our large group. Our waiter was impressive and the food was just as impressive. So happy we went there.
I came back and brought my husband after 30 years because I remembered what a great restaurant it was. It did not disappoint. It was delicious and the staff was great. Thank you!
I brought my parents here that were visiting from PA to enjoy Seattle seafood. They love restaurants with a view and getting a spot on the patio close to sunset was incredible. We loved our meals, my Coho Salmon with Huckleberry vinaigrette was to die for! The server was attentive, the food great, and the view spectacular! It was the perfect experience I had hoped we’d have!
Bradford was a excellent sever.
Great clam chowder and the bacon- wrapped halibut was cooked to perfection.
I had the clam chowder as an appetizer which is excellent. For the entree I stuck with the classic fried clam strips and chips. It was a filling lunch
The foods was seasoned well. Very tasty and very reasonable prices
Wonderful place to meet with friends and family and have an excellent dinner. Noise levels were high, and prices were also high. On the other hand, the pasta and clams dish was the best I’ve ever had.
Bottom line: we will be back.
Great service and food and what a view of the water
We had not been to Ivar's for a few years. The renovations opened the restaurant and makes it much more modern looking while keeping a good atmosphere. Our food was exceptional and the portions generous. Our waiter advised us of the specials and even offered a taste of a sauce that we did not recognize.
The only issue I have is they are too far away to be able to go more often.
NOT VEG FRIENDLY! Expensive Okay, I know it's a seafood place, but only 1 vegetarian option - gosh a portobello mushroom covered in tomato sauce - and the waiter showed no interest or caring about any options.
Brian, I apologize that you didn't find our vegetarian napoleon a suitable option for an entree. We do have 6 separate salads as well as three different seasonal vegetables that we serve currently. I will encourage our staff to find creative ways to meet guests needs. Thank you for your feedback! Sincerely, Casey Rose General Manager Ivar's Acres of Clams
The meal started rocky... The Crab Cakes were incredibly soggy, and served in a manner which you wouldn't expect. However due to the awesome waiter stepping in, taking ownership, and making the situation better, by bending over backwards to make the rest of the meal phenomenal, I am giving the overall stars a 4 instead of the 2-3 that I would have normally. The waiter was above the standard and gave Michelin level service.
We had the best waiter I have ever had in Seattle. His name is Jose Garcia and he was knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant, funny and made our whole dinner AWESOME!!!! Whatever you are paying him is not enough! He is what makes an Ivar's experience the best it can be!
This was the worst so called FRESH HALIBUT dinner we have ever had. It started off with us waiting for a table we reserved only to find the place half empty when we were seated. The waiter needs to go get some serious training. The topper was the 20 minute wait to just get our check.
Really bad experience.
Had the Coho salmon with huckleberry sauce, this was probably the best salmon dish I have ever tasted!
Service was fantastic as we had several members of our party arrive at different times and the server (Jason/Jay?) didn’t miss a beat bringing appetizers for those who sat and ordered wanting to eat before the ball game at the same time as getting drink orders for those arriving late. It was seamless service and we made it to the game on time. Food hits -the Ivarita, clams, calamari and mussels (the coconut curry sauce!! Wow!) and my tween daughter loved her steak off the children’s menu. I would go back just for the mussels!
Overall very good. Perhaps a tad pricey for what it was but food was good, service was great and loved the ambiance!
Always a great place to experience the best of Seattle's waterfront.
We ate at the restaurant and the food and service were fantastic. Servings may have been slightly on the small side. We also at the take away, great food and size at a great price. Preferred the takeaway.
This restaurant has a great view location with wonderful ambience. The service was excellent and the food a tiny notch below fabulous. The management obviously knows how to run a restaurant.
We are from Texas so reserved early. Nice table outside, lovely clam chowder and coconut shrimp. Warning...crab and shrimp Louie is huge! Could not eat it all.
Our dinner for 4 was a wonderful experience. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The food was so delicious, our table was well situated and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable.
The seafood chowder with smoked salmon and pepper was A+. Lots of fried foods. No table cloths. Busy robust clientele - mostly tourists. Overall good, but not great, not worth a diversion, but if you are there decent fare.
Staff was very accommodating for our large group of 27 people, even when a few more relatives showed up unannounced. Food was excellent and was served in a timely fashion. Love this restaurant!
I am a fan of Ivar's Acres of Clams. This time I had family from Europe and they were in Seattle only for 2 full days, therefore Ivars for lunch was the place. Radford was her wait person, he was polite, attentive and our orders were served as ordered.
