Please note this online reservation is for the Robata counter seating.
Absolutely amazing food!!!
We ate quality robata. The agedashi todu was soft, hot and delicious, the steamed vegetable appetizer was filling and had tremendous value, the meats were properly cooked and the service was quick.
I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and they came out with a tower of mochi and ice cream with red bean, fruit, whipped cream and a candle on the house. YUM!
We had a great anniversary dinner here. The chefs were wonderful. Our server was not very professional and gave us a lot of misinformation about the menu and the meal. However, this did not ruin our experience at the restaurant. I recommend having an anniversary dinner here because the chef very kindly lead the whole restaurant in celebrating our anniversary with a Japanese chant. We weren’t expecting it and it made our evening. Thank you!
Everything was great!
Not bad for NYC visitors to show around and give a taste of what would be like in Japanese izakaya but how they grill the tiger shrimp was too dried up and oyster was too buttery with too much garlic and couldn’t taste actual flavor of oyster.
Got food sick.
A good dining experience, but a far cry from the original in Tokyo. Not nearly as authentic and unique, with hired hands sitting idle and waiting for orders. The robata chefs were good, but fail to impress like they do at the Roppongi original.
Appreciate that they did clapping ceremony for our anniversary. The food is more delicious than before. Especially, black cod was truly amazed and wagyu beef was delicious
Waited 20 minutes, despite having a reservation; after clearing the meal, waited 15 minutes without being offered dessert menu (we wanted) or check. Wouldn’t recommend for a work lunch again
I thought the sushi was just ok. Nothing special and the prices were high for nothing special.
It was on a list of recommended restaurants from a friend. I was in the mood for steak after three nights of fish. I opted for the Kobe beef skewer; a little pricey but not out of line for Kobe. Two of the four pieces were top notch; the other four not so much. Don't know why there would be a difference.
My wife had the cod and enjoyed it. We also tried the spicy edamame which was very good.
The ambiance is nice, especially when they deliver your order on a long handled platter, from the chef to your place setting!
The food is exceptional, reasonably price and delicious! The waitstaff and cooks are very attentive and quick. We were very satisfied after our meal. We will come back and highly recommend Inakaya to anyone looking for a delicious meal. #1 Japanese restaurant hands down. Great for a date, special occasion or before a show.
Nice entertainment at counter seat!
Also good Japanese food as well.
I probably shouldn’t compare Inakaya NY to Tokyo, but I couldn’t help it. It’s really nothing like the originals in Tokyo. No ambiance, not fun servers. I think most people at the counter were ordering sushi, so there’s nothing for the chefs to do. They looked bored. Food was pretty good. Kobe skewers, chicken meatballs and shishito peppers were good. The kids had sushi, which was good.
Great food. Nice employees.
finally a true pan japanese restaurant in NY from robata to sushi to kitchen food- loved it!
Great experience over all!! It was my daughter’s birthday and they presented her with Birthday dessert!
We had a lot of fun. Terrific food, great atmosphere and our waiter was entertaining. I definitely intend to return!
Great food and service!
This is the third year we have stopped by on our annual trip to NYC the food is amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is gorgeous!
We've eaten at Inakaya in Tokyo a few times back when we lived there, and now in the NYC place at least twice. The sashimi deluxe was very disappointing quality (I told them, and they gave us a free drink, which was nice of them.) The cooked food was good, not great. But the biggest disappointment in this caverness NYC place is that the atmosphere of Inakaya is almost totally absent. No energy. Light crowd, even though it was dinner on Friday. Staff was pleasant, but the place is big and quiet feeling, as compared to their Tokyo place which feels buzzing, alive, fun and exciting. I think they bet big here, too big, and the ambience isn't there. It's not cheap, and what's make their Tokyo place so special is missing here in New York.
Great restaurant. The food was amazing although I wish the portions were larger. Aside from that it was perfect.
Was super excited to go here after living in Tokyo 7 years.. Basic summary - they took the most amazing Japanese restaurant and turned it into a terrible fake American concept store with McDonald neon lighting and fake grills. Over rated. Over priced. Under average. We left our $100 bottle of Sake half full after the first plate and left and went to Nobu. A complete embarrassment to the INAKAYA name and philosophy.
My wife and I came for a light dinner and drinks, and we enjoyed Inakaya very much! We sat near the bar area and had sushi and sashimi, which was fresh and delicious.
best salad ever, nice sushi, tasty entrees, excellent service.
When I lived in Tokyo, the original Inakaya was walking distance from my home in Roppongi. It was a staple and while the ambiance near Port Authority and the cooks are not Japanese, the NYC branch tries to stay true. The food is great, especially the eel and the spicy ramen.
Amazing place! We go there each time we travel to New York, and everything is perfect!
Finalmente cortesia e gentilezza a NY. Quanto ordinato di qualità e ben cucinato. Tempi di attesa corretti.
Great food! Be sure to sit around the sunken hearth. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back
Fresh & generous cuts of sashimi, grilled octopus and veggies perfect.
Our family was in town and we brought them here b/c it used to be a fun experience. There was no manager in sight and the waiter was completely inattentive even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ended up walking out and going to Boqueria across the street. The worst non-dining experience ever.
beautiful clean restaurant, friendly staff and the food was artfully plated and very good - prices moderate for a Manhattan restaurant
Expensive with small portions. Good food but not enough for the price. All a la cart.
Excellent quality and very authentic! I wish I lived closer.
The ambiance was great! Taste food and good people!
Inakaya never disappoints. Discovered on a trip 3 years ago. Everything on the menu is top notch. If you do not know what to try, ask your server. Sit at the"bar" like table ... you won't be disappointed.
The wagyu skewers were fantastic but the sushi was just okay (nothing special).
We both ordered a 5 course meal each.bfor both of us the first 3 courses were magical... Really good. The final 2 for both of us were ridiculously overcooked. there's no need for anything to be cooked that much
We had an Udon soup that had ground chicken in it...it was amazing! Sushi rolls were awesome too. We will be back!
Disappointed with the menu choices. Boring sushi choices. Had the yellow tail collar and it was dry.
