Great food & service
Waiters were overbearing and thought they knew what you wanted or needed. I was forced to check my coat and then froze during my meal. Restroom was downstairs and not convenient for my recent knee surgery.
This cozy and elegant restaurant puts a high premium on excellent service with an extremely accommodating and knowledgeable waitstaff; not only did they gladly adjust their dishes for one person in our party with allergies, but offered to cook "whatever you wanted" in any style requested. Appetizers, main course, sides, and dessert were all exquisite -- can't wait to dine here again!
Outstanding and consistent. A pleasure every time.
The burrata appetiser was very good, the spaghetti entree excellent but the gnocchi was rather tough, stodgy and difficult to eat/digest; we’re not sure if they messed up or if that’s how it’s served in NYC. Our expectation, through numerous other dining experiences, is that gnocchi are “little pillows”; light, fluffy, almost melt in the mouth. The fromage sauce accompanying the gnocchi was excellent. The service was very efficient.
Incredibly professional waitstaff. Very welcoming atmosphere with wonderful traditional Italian food.
Outstanding service coupled with excellent food. This restaurant always delivers
Every single trip to NYC includes a dinner or 2 at this amazing restaurant! We’ve been dining here for 5 years in a row - at least 3 to 4 times a year. Absolutely the best food and the most incredible experience NYC has to offer.
Food and service were excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an unhurried quiet excellent meal.
Excellent service & food!
One of our favorite places to enjoy dinner. Great service from the moment you walk in until you leave.
Just excellent, as always. Though the place was slammed, John and crew did a great job of providing the warm hospitality that always makes this restaurant special.
We go there whenever in NYC. This time we went for my birthday. As always food and service was excellent..
We will be back!
I have been coming her for over 20 years. The food quality and level of attentive service has never fallen below excellent!
Best food we had in NYC. Can not recommend enough. You won’t be disappointed.
Outstanding food and service!! Next time we are in NY, we will return!
Came highly recommended, but I wasn’t that impressed. We weren’t seated until 25 minutes after our reservation time. Virtually no space to wait so it felt squished. Burrata appetizer was fine but nothing special. Pasta entree tasted great, small portion though and quite expensive. Service was attentive, just not my style: loud, kind of pushy (I guess that’s NYC though—we were visiting from vastly more casual Seattle), low-key sexist, very old school. And the weirdest Manhattan (the cocktail) presentation I’ve ever had, served in a wine glass with a whole scoop of ice. Overall did not live up to the hype.
The best pasta outside of Rome's best restaurants. Not cheap, but worth every penny, IMHO.
Amazing service and food was delicious!
Great food and service in a timeless atmosphere. White truffle season is a special time here, but expensive. We will be back.
This is where to find old fashioned service in a cozy environment. A place we return to when we visit NYC. Choose your mozzarella and prosciutto off a cart they bring around. Desserts prepared at your table!
Fabulous food, fabulous service great atmosphere and reasonably prices.
Good Is very good but overly expensive. Especially the day’s specials
Enjoyed the food. Really good but not exceptional. Pasta in cream sauce with Truffle shavings was a special. It cost 3 times the most expensive menu item (as an aside, my daughter recently returned from outside where she had a great truffle topped pasta dish. Dinner for the four people she was with was less than the price of the dish here). I was prepared for a high price but that did surprise me. Also we had to wait 1,/2 hour after our reserved time to be seated. Serving staff was great.
We had been to Il Tinello on a previous trip to NYC. My memories lived up to our recent experience. We were seated immediately, even though we arrived earlier than our reservation time. Our waiter and his staff were constantly taking care of our needs but were not intrusive. The veal dishes were outstanding, the wine list was extensive, (but a little pricey), and the dessert cart was wonderful. We had two separate ones. Complimentary after dinner drinks were a nice and unexpected treat. A great restaurant in a city with thousands of choices. Glad we returned.
Food is decent but boring. Good ingredients prepared as if you were on a cruise ship. Very safe and uninspired Northern Italian. Warm and attentive service.
Fantastic as always
Outstanding, location. Service, wine. Food and atmosphere.
The place was noisier than I expected, based on a previous review. But the rest of the ambience was lovely. Nice sized tables that were not too close to each other. I thought everything was wonderful - cocktail was good - glass was exquisite! My halibut was outstanding and a very nice sized portion! Flourless Italian cheesecake was weird. A bit pricey. Came with a friend from out of town. Unfortunately, he was not as impressed. Too noisy and chairs uncomfortable for him. 🤷♀️
The food could have been prepared with more care. The Spedini sauce lacked flavor. Needed a little more punch from anchovy and capers. It was bland. The Satimboca lacked the flavor of fresh sage, salt and pepper. It was a bit bland. Dover sole was mushy and returned. Veal chop was under cooked at first.
Food, service, ambiance and experience were all exceptional
Such a Beautiful restaurant with the most delicious and authentic Italian Food
The whole Team makes you feel welcome and special
We celebrated my wife's birthday on Sunday night. It's a yearly tradition. We are always pleased with everything. You must try the hot Zabaglione for dessert. Out of this world!
Wonderful! Amazing food and wonderful ambiance! I would recommend to everyone as a special treat!
Il Tinello was excellent as always. We chose this restaurant to celebrate a very special birthday, and everything was absolute perfection!
Simply amazing and my go to every time I’m in the city. Hands down best Italian in NYC
The service was excellent. The food was outstanding and the ambiance was warm.
The food, service and ambiance was wonderful. After we finished our meal, management asked if we would like a free aperitif in the bar, they wanted us to vacate the table in no uncertain terms, a real turnoff.
Hard to recommend when they basically ask you to leave so they can turn tables.
Great food and everybody is a VIP here. One of the best!!!
Nice ambience, great service, but the food did not live up to expectations.
Food was not what I hoped for based on cost. Tomatoes, olives and capers on the menu turned out to be tomato sauce that may have been from a can. Wine was good but 3x retail and overpriced. Folks and setting were good.
